  1. Shipping cost to the Netherlands come in at $23,95, I'll just wait and hope for the same offer on both Volume 1 and 2 when Volume 2 comes out. (Sent them an email to ask about it, Will share the reply if anyone is interested.)
  2. Well from my own experience so far all I can say is that creating a MOC worthy of sharing/showing can be very intimidating after spending a lot of time on forums such as these these. I felt so intimidated that I never even try'ed, Up until now... Because I'm sort of disabled (I might share that story later) I struggle to learn new things, Therefore Technic MOC's made by me won't appear on these forums anytime soon. A while ago I started an attempt to build all 20 of Nathanaël Kuipers 5867 alternates, After succeeding in building two of them (Le mans and Rescue-truck) I read about his upcoming book and gave up as my initial intend was to release my reverse engineered versions to the community as LDD files. Now about a week and a half ago I got so bored I wanted to do something with Lego but also do a Puzzle at the same time, As you might have guessed I got back to NK's 5867 alternates. As I'm writing this I have finished eighteen of them and only have two left to do (Forklift and Quad-bike), I expect I will be able to finish those two by tomorrow. In the process of doing this I saw an opportunity in his Vintage car model and decided to give it a roof, rear spoiler, change the front slightly and made some changes to the back giving it a look like a Morgan Aero 8 GT3 race-car, While still restricting myself to the parts available in set 5867. (I'll have some pictures of that up later, SD Card reader ain't working, And USB cable for the camera is MIA.) And more importantly I learned a great deal about snot and other techniques while needing to apply them, And most importantly I learned not to focus on a specific problem but work my way around it. This whole process has boosted my confidence to a level where i'm willing to give Moc'ing a try, Now in order to not be overwhelmed and get demotivated again I'm going to limited my efforts to single and/or two LEGO set Moc's, Based on small set's like 5867 and 31006. For anyone wondering whether I will share the LDD files for NK's 5867 alternates, The answer is simple: I won't. Because of his upcoming books this would be a very wrong thing to do, And if your interested in building them my only advice is this: Either you buy his books or you do the same as me and rebuild them using his pictures as your guide. I've sent him an email to which he has reply'ed and I understand and respect his reasons behind the books, Which I plan to buy to see how well I've done. With his permission and if there's interest in them I might provide instructions on how to alter the Vintage car to my race prepped version, But that all depends on how the book version is build and will take a while as that model appears in Volume 2. (To be released in September.) I hope you all can forgive me for this on/off topic post as it's not really Technic, I do however have one question though: Creator (And therefore Creator Moc's) has(have) been put under the 'Special LEGO Themes' forum on this forum, In my opinion NK's 5867 alternates could be considered to be Model team as well. So my question is: On which forum-section should I place my mocs when I've got something to show? Sato.
  3. I've got two different versions of that PDF file on my harddrive, One of which is in slightly better quality and they also aren't exactly the same either.
  4. Yeah sure: http://www.atembo.nl/lego/ Unfortunately the aren't among the cheapest online-shops anymore, Prices there have gone up slightly over time but that's to be expected. (What started out small in an existing shop now has two own separate store locations.) So I might order somewhere else this time, Service there has been great all these years so it really depends on the price difference. (Yeah, I know I'm a true Dutchmen) BTW: My apologies for all the off-topic talk.
  5. I've succeeded in building the Le Mans Prototype & Rescue Truck from the photo's on brickshelf and make LDD models of them. I also managed to build the Vintage F1 Car a while ago but didn't make an LDD model of it. With the release of this book (That slightly disappoints me because its only ten models while Nathanaël did twenty in total based on that Lego Set.) I don't see a point in continuing this sidetracked project, And will keep the LDD files for my private collection. (I'll still give the models I really like a go but won't go for the full set as I planned to do.)
  6. Thanks, Just noticed my preferred online store has them in stock now. Time to order all the first half Technic & Creator set's I want.
  7. I certainly hope not, Last year's 'March' set (Logging truck) wasn't widely available until in august here in the Netherlands. And why this was still remains unclear.
  8. Wow, Amazed at how a part of this tread is so similar to an Apple fanboy VS ... face-off on a tech-forum that I completely forgot where I was for a second... People buy what they want to buy and i'ts okay if you don't agree, But keep it to yourself. Enough forum space has been wasted on endless arguments about Lego VS Imitations, Apple VS Google/Android and many, many more... In the end if a product is of poor quality people will either return it to the store they bought it from or never buy the brand again, And Lego has NOT lost a sale over it because the buyer wasn't willing to pay Lego prices in the first place. (While Lego might win a sale/customer when the customer returns the Clone brand and pays the premium for a real Lego set.)
  9. I assume you already went out and bought a lottery ticket?
  10. These are better translations
  11. Oh dear ... I knew I shouldn't have taken a look in this this topic, You've just reminded me that I still got a whole bunch of Lego Technic sets that need to be dismantled, Standing on the desk behind me and taking up every other bit of space in my new room. (Been banished to the attic and lost almost all the shelf space I had, Now I got a serious amount of dismantling to do and also have to clean everything cos it's all very dusty.) I'll post a pic or two in the next couple of days (I think.)
  12. Nychase, Are free instructions with the possibility of making a donation to the designer something that will be supported by Mocplans? If not, Have you thought about incorporating this?
  13. So I've noticed. If you want to learn decent English in The Netherlands you'll need to teach yourself. (Which I did by reading as much English as I could.) What they teach at most schools over here is a joke. (And I'm saying this based on my own experience.) I'll try to keep track of your topic and help out whenever you want me to.
  14. Thing is, Entering it in the Competition might have been a mistake. Not giving credit to the designer and information about the available instructions is questionable. Accepting the reward is simply unaccepable.
  15. Sets/models only, I build them and maybe the alternate too and then store them as separate sets in Zip-lock bags. With exception of building 1 or 2 to set moc's made by community members which supply building instructions or detailed photo's for them. I can't build my own moc's for a reason that's hard to explain in my native language, So I'm not even gonna try in English.
  16. It's Likely that the first guy will re-post his advert or make a new account and will continue to offer your building instructions for sale on marktplaats.nl There's not much that can be done against these people, They're free to make new accounts (And you/we are free to report them time and time again.) and start all over again. (This has been happening with people selling real (high value) Lego items and not delivering them for a long time now.) All you/we could effectively do is post an advert on marktplaats.nl stating these building instructions are under copyright protection and provide details on where to get them and pay the right person instead of these fraudsters.
  17. No not at all, Although I think it's unlikely this will happen as most of these knockoff's aren't found in most toy-stores. (They lack the shelf-space.) --- As my main interest in Lego sets lies in Technic and Creator, I can't say there are to many sets being released. But I understand the concerns about the growth of the number of themes which is already showing in stores because of the lack of shelf-space, Some sets or even whole themes aren't on the shelf and catalog stands are empty and often don't get refilled leading to a lack of public knowledge about the existence and availability of certain sets. Nowadays I order almost all of my Lego sets online because its cheaper (Saves me 20-30 euro's on the more expensive sets.) and they've got everything that Lego has on offer in stock or available for shipment in 1-3 days. --- Just another thing to add to this discussion, How long before Lego runs out of 4-digit numbers and the numbering logic is completely lost? (Technic has been jumping all over the place lately.)
  18. Seems like your missing book 3 and 4? Here you can find the full set of instructions on Lego's site.
  19. 5533 would be a real hard one indeed, Not enough parts to to really make something different. Maybe a drag bike could be possible but the big wheels are too big and the small wheels are too small to use one as a rear and the other as a front wheel. Don't really have any suggestions besides not forcing yourself to make something, It needs to come from an idea or insight and not by forcing yourself to create something.
  20. I've removed the eBay link from my previous post. In my opinion this tread can stay here as long as you add pictures and possible updates on new alternate models you've been working on.
  21. Went looking for other 5571 alternate models using Google and the results came up with this: Link Removed, As it's not the eBay account you mentioned in your first post I'm gonna guess that he's reselling your instructions? Finding this 'possibly fraud' eBay ad only confirms my opinion on selling alternative instructions, And has made me decide not to buy 'your' 5571 alternate instruction for the simple reason that I cant be sure you are in fact the one who designed these alternate models of which you offer instructions for sale. Looking at your profile page on this forum only confirms that decision, Since all your posts are either in this topic or in other topics promoting this one or 'your' alternate models.
  22. If the bricks got there Lego mold numbers on the inside they should be real Lego bricks, And the Lego set number your looking for is 4896 - Roaring Roadsters.
  23. First of all, Most of the Photobucket links in your first post are dead or broken. Now on with my opinion, Your 2556 alternate looks great, It's just that my 2556 is so dusty I can't take it apart without cleaning it. (which I don't feel like doing.) The 5571 alternate model looks amazing as a digital model, And I got a second copy of that stored in it's box so I'd love to build it. But at 15 Euro with no real life pictures of the model itself I'm not tempted to spend money on it. (Maybe you could provide real life pictures of the models on a site like brickshelf to stimulate sales?) With that said, I understand it has taken you a lot of time to come up with the ideas and build the alternative models and even more time to make the building instructions for them. I just don't think you should be charging money for them but instead make these instructions available for free, And provide a Paypal account for people who want to donate money for your amazing work after they've build your models. That way more people get to enjoy your models and you might even make more money on them then you would with separate instruction sales. (Public awareness and access to your instructions can also prevent the possibility of people buying your instructions, Building your models and then selling them on E-bay under there own name. Which unfortunately has happened before.) But this of course is all up to you and something that has been discussed on these forums before.
  24. No, What he says is true. those tires are way too heavy to be usable for anything other then a display model. And the answer to this dragged out question isn't so simple, It all depends on how much money Sama has got and will get in the coming year. Only he knows that so only he knows if he'll be able to save up enough money to buy the 8110 later. As his question evolved into a 8458 vs 8466 vs 8110 it all depends on what he values more in a Lego set and whether he makes mocs or not. I've your trying to kill your motors, All I can say is have fun. Lego didn't include motorization instructions like they did with 8448 for a reason, The tires are just too heavy to be powered without putting excessive strain on the motor. While these tires look great they are just too tick (the rubber) which makes them so heavy, And therefore pretty much unusable. I'm not a Lego Truck Trial enthusiast but all truck trial trucks I've seen don't use these tires for a reason. I'd even go so far as to say the only reason they where used on 8466 (And possibly the only reason 8466 was ever made) is because they had to use them in another set after the power puller to justify the cost of making them in the first place. Because when it comes down to it, 8466 is really just an off-road version of 8448 with the power pullers tires. (Exact same gearbox, gull-wing doors, basic frame. Just higher suspension. the second model again shares the same chassis. Ah well you get the point. ) Now don't get me wrong, I love this set for it's looks (Loving the metallic green.) and own two copy's of it because I could afford it. But I never had to choose between 8466 or 8458 I simply got both (And even own both twice.) or choose between 8466 and 8110 which was Sama's original question. So to get back to that question: What you need to ask yourself is why do I want the set? (What do you want to do with them? just build and display or build, disassemble and moc with the parts? And what can I afford/Do I want to spend my hard earned money on? For display purposes (and if you got the ability to buy 8110 at a later time): Get the 8466 or 8458 while you still can if you really like them. (The silver champion being the better choice as that has an actual second model instead of 8466's alternative body on the same chassis. Not to mention 8458's third official alternative and the third/fourth unofficial alternative by Industrial Designer found on brickshelf.com.) Best advise on 8466 vs 8458 would be get both, But i don't know if you can afford that. For the building experience and moccing about: Don't take another look at both 8466 and 8458 and just buy 8110, You'll love it. Still not sure and want to see them all side by side, Just ask and I'll takes some pictures for you.
  25. Not all that strange, Two are the same and the third has different letters on it. (PN for the car, JM for the caravan.) Here in the Netherlands Caravans and Trailers (Weighing more then 750 Kilo) are required to have there own registration plate. (Same color as car registration plates.) Germany has the same rules as the Netherlands, Belgium too but from 500 kilo's and up. Don't know about Denmark, Couldn't find anything about it with Google.) Could be a European thing but I don't think it's a European law, It does explain the sticker sheet and thus Lego's choice. That, Or the Car and Caravan where designed by two different designers? Therefore they have different plates. (It really could be that simple.)
