  1. After finding this topic while looking for something else, (9395 Review, Found a link to Technicbricks and will read it after this, The model itself looks good but i'm not sure if I should spend €50,- on it.) I thought 'why not take a look at the second hand prices in my country' only to be surprised by the fact there's about 5 for sale, All seem to be complete with box and the most surprising thing was the asking prices on all of them: €100,- (Without shipping costs, But that's only about 7/10 euro.) Highest bid I saw on one of them was 80,-, And one of the sellers has 2 other sets he's offering for €100,- each: 8479 (Don't have that yet, And really want to add it to my collection.) And 8868 (Already have two of them.) He doesn't look like a fraud based on his other offers. (Some loose Lego Harry Potter stuff and a computer desk.) So I was wondering why these sets are offered for so little? Even other offers on the 8868 are below or around the €100,- mark and I believe they where allot more expensive about a year ago? (€150,- or more.) Financial crisis striking the second hand Lego market? I'm in the process of ordering all the new Technic and Creator stuff that's just been released, And I've just ordered the VW Bus (10220) and Jedi Star Fighter UCS (10215) But I might think about spending some of my savings on a few of the older Technic sets that I haven't got in my collection yet now that they appear to be so cheap. To get back on topic, I've always liked to look at this set. And it might even be fun to play with it, But Unfortunately I don't see any value in adding it to my collection. (Maybe if I can get a good deal on it + Some other sets that I want.)
  2. Shouldn't that be a straight 4 ? (Turbocharged) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unimog#Unimog_U5000_BM437.430) That's what I see in the (birdseye) picture that was posted earlyer. Anyway, From what I've seen of this model so far I'd say it deserves to be placed next to the 8880 on a shelf. (For size and function that is, From what i can see the scale difference between this and the 8868 is to big.) This thing is going to kill my Lego Budget, I already decided I want to get two of them. (One when its released, The second will have to wait a while.) I still want to get a second 8258 (Really like that set), And havent got the 8053 yet. (Still unsure about it, Got the previous crane and don't really like this new one.) Just ordered the bigger Technic sets that have been released lately. (Backhoe and Supercar.) Good thing I only collect Technic (And a little bit of Creator.) Getting a bit offtopic there, As closing words to this post I'd like to say that Technic Lego is a great Hobby to have. And I'd like to thank my best friend (Who is no longer among us.) J.H. for telling me to just buy the damn thing or walk out of the toystore... The damn thing being the 8436 back in 2005, Which released me from my dark ages and launched me into a new era that started with finding a mint 8880 in a little Lego Shop in Alkmaar. (A city in The Netherlands.) And grew into a collection that has now outgrown the shelfspace i made for it. Sato.
  3. Yeah well, I knew I wasn't the first one to complain about it. Made there reply feel a bit strange, Maybe they just misunderstood my complaint? Who knows. Doesn't really matter to me because I read about one or two people who where told they would recieve the 'Old' Chainlinks to replace the 'New' ones to see if that would fix there problem. But they ended up recieving new chainlinks from the new batch so the problem wasn't fixed. Anyway, I collect Technic sets for the fun of building them and to place them on my shelfs when there done so i don't really care about it. So you won't find me sanding them down or anything to fix the problem. That doesn't mean Lego don't have a problem they need to fix before the come out with the next bike or set that includes these new chainlinks. Edit: The problem in the main model could also be caused by the gears which the chain connects too, It looked like they where not in a straight line, But I'm not really sure about this, It's been a while ago when i build it and I took it appart 3 days after that to build the B model. (Which I still need to do.)
  4. Never heard a word from them but recived the service pack today, So great service but next time just send an email so I know they recived mine and are working on it. (BTW, Really? 4 actuators and some small bits are gonna fix all the problems?, I'll have to build the model from ground up anyways so it may take a while before i can test it out.) In the letter that came with the service pack they say they haven't had any complaints about the chaindrive on the 8051 bike not performing as good as on the older bikes. Now I can be wrong here, But I swear I saw more people complaining about it getting stuck and all, On this forum or on the LowLUG forums. Anyway, As far as I remember nobody recieved any fix for it so it doesn't really matter. My Lego sets are for building fun and shelf show-off only, So it's not like it's bothering me.
  5. I'm still waiting for a reply on the email I sent lego 14 days ago, How hard can it be to sent me a reply?
  6. Yes, I have seen his cars on brickshelf lots of times and allways liked them, Seems to me that he spends alot of time building (With bricks and also digital) As he uploads new cars all the time. Been looking for a way to contact him, And found it. So he can expect an email from me. (One can always try.)
  7. I think you're absolutely right about that, Probably the main reason why my attempts at a small scale model are failing at the moment. The only solution is to build bigger, But that only makes it harder to do for me. Although I do not doubt that with some carefull planning and pre-designing important bits before I start with the car itself I could pull it off, But my biggest fear is that I will end up with a digital(mlcad) model that can't ever be build with actual bricks because the don't exist in the required collor. And as my goal is to build it with real bricks, I'll have to order all the required parts because my entire collection consists of complete sets and I intend to keep it that way. So I'm gonna think real hard before even starting this project. thanks for your reply. The whole problem is the lack of Lego Subaru Rally cars on Brickshelf, Mocpages and Flickr, As they would be a great inspiration source. There are only two good one's I found but they are the wrong Modelyear (meaning they have a different body shape, Making them useless as inspiration. Except for one) Looks okay, But it's useless as inspiration. (And I think the details are all wrong.) Wrong modelyear, But it is a source of inspiration. (Too bad the pictures are quite small.) The second one is great, I've got four 8880's so I'm willing to use one as a base for my model. Makes it a big model but it could be done, I think it might even stay withing my pricerange. Could even make it a fully functional model (suspension, maybe a gearbox and so on.) Typing this reply (And searching on brickshelf again.) Really helpt me a lot, Realising that for a great looking model it has to be bigger than i wanted at first. Using an 8880 as base also provides me with the right kind of rims (6 spoke) and a lot of technic stuff to make it as realistic as possible. Almost convinced myself to really get started on this project. If I do I'll make a topic for it, gonna need all the help I can get as I have never made a MOC before. Ralph_S and DLuders, Many thanks for your help. And Ralph_S, I really love your car models, And I'm sorry for going offtopic and posting about my soon to be started MOC Project in your topic.
  8. Can't seem to find a way to send personal message's. But anyway the car is a 1994/1996 (Not really sure at the moment.) Subaru Impreza Plus 1.6l. I got only one picture of his car, But it won't be of any help. (As it's taken by a news reporter, And thats all I'm gonna say on a public board.) As the basic shape of the car is the same in both sedan and stationwagon versions, It should be easy enough to make different versions of it. And so you can help me while also building a version you like more. I haven't been able to build one myself for a number of different reasons, And I haven't been able to find a model I can try to replicate on Brickshelf or MOCpages. So any help would be welcome.
  9. Hmm, Makes me wonder if your interested in building a rather common car that became very special to me about 2,5 years ago. And then help me build my own copy of it, As I cant find an 1:18(or any other scale) Model of it.
  10. And how does defective LA's explain the problems people are having with slewing and track movement?
  11. Sorry that I wasn't clear. I meant that I can't Hear if the motor is struggling to perform the required task when the model is build and played with. All I hear is a bunch of noise from al the moving parts...
  12. Shame I already disassembled it, Didn't have room for it and I don't want any new set with PF or LA's to collect dust on my shelfs. (Dusting off, Testing and disassembling older sets at the moment.) Now i got to rebuild it (Got al the time in the world and its fun but....) And test it. (Big problem here, I'm hearing impaired and can't tell if a motor is under stress. May need to ask my dad to help me with that.) Anyway, I will send Lego a message asking them to keep me updated on what there going to do about it. (Refund would be okay but I would hate having to sent mine to them, Rather have them sending me the parts required for the fix after I give them a copy of my reciept.) May also sent a message to the store owner from where I bought it.
  13. I couldn't get LDraw installed (Using 64bit Windows Vista, Error upon opening the instal file, Non compatible Windows.) And so i couldn't use MLcad. But i solved my issue by installing LDraw in a different way, And MLcad is now up and running. Edit: I relize my post doesn't help the topicstarter. Sorry for that.
