It looks pretty good next to my modulars, but then again they are all at least double their normal size. I'm going to make the GBHQ even bigger so its scaled to the Ecto-1 better. I read a few pages back that someone didn't know if the big doors opened in or out in the movie. They open out, so i'll be modding that too. -

Finished the first (ground) floor and most of the first story. I'm LOVING the interior. So many little details and cool little builds! Easily my favorite build to date. But on the other hand, I'm seeing improvements/mods I'm going to make after i finish building it stock. -
[MOC] Prince of Persia - Alamut Food Market
Boettner Builds replied to TAFOL's topic in LEGO Licensed
I would buy several! I own multiples of all of the Prince of Persia sets, but I think this one takes the cake! It really captures the feel of the Middle East! Nice work! -
Volkswagen Camper Van's Retirement
Boettner Builds replied to Terrasher's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's been around for quite a while but it's hard to tell. It just got a box redesign so we might have it for a bit longer. My advice is to buy it now do you don't have to pay the insane price later... -
I can't wait to see your XL Brick Bank LegoSjaak! Your XL versions are Always so beautiful! The Brick Bank is last on my list :( I still have to get one more palace cinema (for my XXXL version) and a few more PR's...

I might have to drive to my local LEGO store because I have a feeling that if I get it from S@H it's going to get to my house in pretty bad shape :( -
I can't wait to see it!!

The only problem I see with a playground set is it's going to come with a BUNCH of the crappy short legs. If it's a good design that won't stop me from getting it though.

[MOC] Ralphie's House From "A Christmas Story"
Boettner Builds posted a topic in Special LEGO Themes
Better pictures to follow. I present to you, the great community that is Eurobricks, My first public MOC: Ralphie's house from "A Chistmas Story"! This is the culmination of several years of Naval Deployment, LEGO Digital Designer, a great love of the movie and a lifelong love of LEGO! Like everyone else, I LOVE the movie. Maybe a little too much. I'm that guy who doesn't only watch it 1000 times during December, but year round. I'm also a lover of LEGO. And as it turns out these two things go well with each other! I discovered LEGO Digital Designer a bunch of years ago, but never really messed with it. I like to LEGO in real life with real bricks. But being Active Duty in the Navy, you cant exactly just dump your bucket of LEGO in the middle of a warship and start building. So during back to back Persian Gulf deployments (9 months in the Gulf, 4 months home, then another 9 months in the Gulf) I decided to give LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) a try, and what better way than to make an UCS version of Ralphie's house! So during my free time on the John C. Stennis, I would watch "A Christmas Story' endlessly. But it was in a different way these 1000 times. I was looking for all of the details of the house. I would take stills of scenes, a LOT of stills. I had already saved a bunch of pictures of the real house, from www.achristmasstoryhouse.com, so I had a bunch of really good reference pictures to go by. But after months of looking, thinking and trying to figure how best to build it, I was running into some problems. Since the house was REAL, but the interior was all shot on a stage, the two different aspects of this were not happy together. Then I came to realize what needed to be done. I was going to make a hybrid of the two. So the outside of the LEGO house is not 100% true to the real house, but he interior is. A happy combination of the two. Now the Interior is still just built in LDD, but I will be adding it to the real LEGO house as time and funds allow. Also as I built the house in real LEGO, I made some "on the fly" changes. Its quite a bit bigger than my original Digital version. some tweaking of the digital interior will need to be made as I build it in real life. It's still not "perfect" in my mind, so I will be tweaking it as time goes by... So ends the brief history of Ralphie's LEGO House. Here are some fun facts! It contains over 4000 LEGO bricks and one not-LEGO Leg Lamp! From start to finish, I've been working on it (off and on) for over 3 years! It's the ONLY LEGO version of Ralphie's house in the world! I have no idea how much money it has taken to build it! It has some hard to find/rare parts! I had to order all of the green windows from Europe! (But not Italy) What's next? Kevin's house from "Home Alone" Thanks for looking! -
Don't you mean a newly discovered XL species of the giant raptor? ;)

Very cool! Looks like a field study! LEGO and Dinosaurs always a win! What kind of Dino is that?

The more I see Prison Island, the more it grows on me. It's no Alcratz, but its looking better!

I was pretty disappointed with this years soldiers fort. I missed the 2009 fort, and was hoping this years was going to be AT LEAST a rehash of that one. So my fix is I've bought 3 of this years, but I haven't combined them to make a bigger one yet...

Analysis of 2016 LEGO Architecture sets...
Boettner Builds replied to henrysunset's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm just sitting here, waiting for any San Francisco sets,so I can get my first architecture set. I do really like these new skyline sets though! -
I'm really digging the fire diver minifigure in a couple of the new fire sets!

After coming out of my dark ages with a vengeance, I refuse to let any set I want slip through my hands. There are too many that have retired and are CRAZY expensive now. I'm not sure where my 1000's of sets are going to go when I pass, but I know it will be worth a small fortune for whoever gets to "deal" with it. Long story short, life's too short to miss out on the UCS Falcon! (Which I built from my bulk and BrickLink)

I LOVE this build overall! The windshield and rearview mirrors are an interesting build, I never would thought of that! good job!

I just picked up Benny's SPACESHIP! At TRU for $54.99, last one! One day sale only. I was in TRU looking for the early released December City sets (didn't have any I wanted) but my Wife asked if I had Benny's SPACESHIP yet. I already picked one up on sale a WHILE ago, but when Benny's SPACESHIP is 50% off you don't leave without it!
