Most impressive! Love the modular layout. You've given me some ideas.

Ah, that took a few tries until I figured out the technique. Thank you again! -

Well, I couldn't get that to work. The group of three just acted like a larger straight track. -

Thanks for the "how to" it's much appreciated. Never thought to do that. I'll give it a shot. -
Classicsmiley, Thanks for the followup. I was playing around in BlueBrick last night and found the table tops which I though were cool except for the text labels that I couldn't figure out how to get rid of. I just used an area layer instead and painted in the tabletop area. Love the layering as I'm familiar with that from Photoshop. I also created a tabletop grid in Word that we can print out and draw on while we're throwing around basic ideas, before we try it with BlueBrick. The fun has started!

Hi and thanks for your reply and clarification on the relationship between LDD and BlueBrick. Our goal is just to plan a tabletop setup that will cover an area of 5' x 8.5'. It will consist of modulars, city sets, roads, trains and eventually a MOC or three. I guess it may be easier to start with good old graph paper to get some basic ideas as far as what will fit into the allocated space. After thinking about this some more, there really is no reason to use fully rendered modulars or other sets in BlueBrick as I can just allocate the space needed for each. The train track layout seems to be the most difficult and BlueBrick should make that easier. I'll have to play with BlueBrick and see what all it can do. Sorry for the newbie ramblings. We're excited to get started. We went from zero to about 40,000 pieces in three months. Just ordered some road plates and track to get an idea of how the stuff lays down and work out how to join roads, sidewalks and crossings. I see that it will be a work (play) in progress for quite a while. There is a lot of great info on the Trains and Town forums, but any and all additional suggestions and tips will be appreciated.

My wife and I are new to the LEGO experience, only about 4 months and are getting ready to lay out our LEGO town and train system. We are familiar with LDD and I know BlueBrick allows you to make a track layout and has some completed town sets (not sure what they are) that can be installed as whole pieces, but do any of the building programs allow you to plop down a complete Modular, Haunted House or Train Station, for example? Thanks!

Wow, well done and very realistic!

News The LEGO Movie: 70810 MetalBeard's Sea Cow
rockethead26 replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
We did! This set wasn't even on the "buy" list as we were trying to concentrate on laying out a LEGO city. The spring LEGO catalog arrival didn't help with the double page spread and we succumbed to the golden glitter of the Sea Cow. We may have to put a beach on the edge of our LEGO town so we can park this behemoth. Out city concept has grown into a multi-universe one which will include all kinds of stuff along with the Modular/City/Friends sets. We highly recommend this set to anyone, regardless of their individual proclivities. It's a truly awesome build!- 158 replies

I haven't even built my first train layout yet and I'm surprised at the low number of supporters. I would have thought that there would be hundreds Only about 800 supporters are needed at $100 each to make this work. I went in for $160 on the 4th day and things have really slowed down. I'm rather disappointed. Being new to LEGO and to LEGO trains, I don't know where else to advertise this. I hope this works as we newbies need a good and more varied supply of track just like the old-timers do. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there may be a hoard of late supporters.

My wife and I just finished building this set and it is so much fun. We built it over two weeks with an hour here and a half-hour there. We decided to have a little fun and add all the movie characters to the build and take a few pics. Hope you like them.- 158 replies

Zephyr, Thanks and I did check the FAQs, I was just a bit confused as to what to do, but I got an email from the ME team and they set me straight. I pledged initially for the $34 level and then upped my pledge to include the $35, $42 and $45 rewards as well. I then changed to the $45 level reward and the rest will be straightened out before the rewards ship. That should give me a good starter set of track to build my Lego town. I hope they succeed with the funding!

No pictures for me either. All picture boxes now show a "This image or video is not currently available".

Hi, This looks like a great concept and I've been following discussions on this board for a while. I just asked this same question on the Kickstarter site, but thought I would post here in the public forum as well. There is only one pledge level that includes curved and straight ABS track (I think at $45). Most of your options are for loops only. These are great for existing builders that are only looking for some new radius options, but not so much for newcomers that own no track yet and are just now designing their train layouts. It would be great if you could offer a pledge level in the $100-150 range that would include a full loop of either R56 or R72 (or two) in ABS along with a good selection of all the different straight track sizes. A good size "starter" set if you will. You'd have my immediate support if an option like this is added. Thanks for the consideration.

This is great. Love the cracked concrete from the fallen tank and the ratty looking vegetation.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
rockethead26 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Agreed! That would make for an excellent series with more variability. -
Looks like the current actual selling prices are hovering between $245 and $249 plus shipping. I got into the modulars in late January after this one had passed into retirement and after buying all the rest of the available modulars, I decided I couldn't resist and bought one off of eBay yesterday for $249 plus $12.95 shipping. That's about as good as I could find. I might have been able to save $5 by bidding, but it wasn't worth my time.

Kids? Yeah, right!

How do you display your modular building collection?
