At this point, if they are going to reveal the Nexo Nights theme/storyline it would make absolutely no sense not to show some of the minifigs/sets as well. I agree that we will probably get to see some/most of the minifigs and 2-3 sets. I expect they will also announce the formal release date for the line and the debut date of the cartoon.

I was also in the "No Nexo Knights @ NYCC Camp" but I have changed my tune as it looks highly likely that we will see this theme at NYCC 2015. As to why: - Agree with everything Aanchir said above re: Bionicle last year and visitor counts, to which I would add: - Given the nature of the theme, TLG might want to unveil it where they will have an audience of RPG'ers (AD&D, etc.) and Tabletop Gamers (Warhammer 40K, etc.) and those with an interest in those themes/genres. - When I think about it, this theme does kind of lend itself to a Comic Con environment - Perhaps, with the sets leaking online (the images are still readily available) TLG decided to reveal the theme now and at least control the message/content/set reveal before any more info leaks online - Lego's resources are such that the cost of booth space would be of little concern, but for what it's worth their booth doesn't look that big - NYCC has always been "the other Comic Con" after SDCC, but given it's timing and what has historically been TLG's timing for the release of new waves of sets, it could be a good time for them to show new stuff Lego has mentioned that a "Big Announcement" is coming up and while that could be anything (Dr. Who, Ghostbusters Firehall) I think it's likely that they are referring to the Nexo Knights reveal.

Let me preface my comments by saying that I want to see Nexo Knights stuff as much as anyone and I don't want to rain on the parade or be disrespectful. The photo shows 2 blue panels one plain and one with yellow squares. Honestly, they could be anything. Lego might have just decided to put blue walls on their booth. The N.K. boxes look to feature a more "yellow-orange" color than what is shown there. Now, the side of the boxes look yellow. Can anyone who has the catalog confirm that there is a square design on the side of the boxes that matches the square design on that poster? If so, then maybe you are on to something. NYCC starts on Thursday, so unless there is a preview night where photos are allowed the earliest we will get any news/pics is Thursday. If K.N. are shown I think they may show a teaser trailer for the cartoon series, maybe a couple of sets and a turntable of mini-figs. Keep your eyes open for a TLG press release. It is likely to describe exactly what they are bringing to/showing at NYCC.

I wonder if we will get any details on the new sets (and I guess the new Season of the TV show) at NYCC this week? Given Ninjago's heavy presence at SDCC this past summer, it would make sense to follow it up with something at NYCC, yes? Lego is attending and they have a booth on the floor. I guess they will do a press release to announce what they are doing/showing at NYCC sometime this week, so we should keep an eye out. There is a similar discussion to going on in the Nexo Knights thread and since Ninjago has become an evergreen theme for Lego (and I suppose somewhat of a popular pop-culture theme) I figured it was worth a mention here.

If you want to collect the Nexo Knight mini-figs, all but one (the bull knight - Axel?) are available in the Ultimate sets at a price point of around $10USD/$10Euro I believe. And 1 of the Knights is included in each of the 2 small ($20USD/$20Euro) sets. So the actual distribution of the figures in the sets isn't too bad at all. Hope to get some set details on the 2 retailer exclusives (Merlock's Library, King's Mech) soon!

Thanks BrickJagger! I was looking at the more recent post, so I totally missed the one from earlier in September. I'm cautiously optimistic. Yeah, it's kind of coming together that way isn't it? Hopefully, Lego issues a press release this week about NYCC and what they are going to be doing there which will hopefully give us an indication of whether or not we get more Nexo Knights (or other themes, Ninjago would make sense for that venue) information. Did Lego do a press release last year and did they reveal all of the Bionicle sets at NYCC 2014?
-
Hmm...just looked at the Brick Fan's article and the comments section and I can't find any mention of a possible NYCC reveal in either the article or the comments. Given Lego's tendency for extreme levels of secrecy, I would set my expectations very low for a NYCC reveal given what little they "revealed" at SDCC in July which consisted of what, 2 sets that were already revealed before the event. But...and this is a big but...if Nexo Knights is releasing in January NYCC would be a good time/event to reveal it and maybe show off a set or two. Lego has a booth at NYCC and it wouldn't make sense to bring in "old 2015" sets to display. Also, with Ninjago having a presence and even a panel at SDCC, Lego might look at the success of that event as an opportunity to try and launch its next "Big Bang" theme at NYCC. Along these lines, by revealing them at NYCC, they can get the jump on internet leaks and control the reveal and the flow of information. Right now, I'm 75% for no reveal, 20% for us getting "something" (which would consist of an acknowledgement that the theme exists along with maybe the poster shown on the magazine and here on the board) and 5% for a more detailed reveal with a few sets shown. If someone can find the comment about the NYCC reveal, please let me/us know via a link or copy/paste here. Maybe it got erased or maybe I just missed it....?

Thanks Sci for answering my questions and for taking the time to do all of those drawings! I truly appreciate it! Not sure what to make of this...March release date could be for Europe which means an N.A./Asia release could be earlier/later. This year, N.A. got the releases in February and August. Europe one month earlier and I believe Asia a month earlier than Europe. I.E. Winter 2015 sets were released in Korea/Singapore in December. Does anyone remember the release dates on the Winter 2015 sets in last year's catalog? Given that 2 Waves have already been released in 2015, it makes sense to hold this off until 2016. Has Lego ever released 3 Waves of a theme in a single calendar year? The other wild card here is the Nexo Knights release. Rumored to be January 16, 2016. Lego has been pretty hard line in the past with release dates for Big Bang themes so doubtful that there will be a soft release of the figs in December. I'm sure that Lego will want to put a spotlight on the release of that line, which means either Ninjago gets a December release which would help pump up TLG's sales for Q4 and the all important Holiday Season or they do leave it for a month or two after Nexo Knights is released. I can see both scenarios happening. The movie releases in Fall 2017. That movie set list was leaked very prematurely and may not even be the actual list now. We will get another 2 waves after the Winter 2016 Wave. Having said that, it would not surprise me in the least if the Summer 2016 wave is a small one (3-5 sets) with the same Pirate theme so that the focus can remain on Nexo Knights and TLG can use 2016 to build up that line.

For those who have access to the catalog...Hope you don't mind a couple more questions! 1. It has been reported that the set boxes are red. Can you tell if they are the same shade of red as the 2015 sets or is it a darker/lighter shade. Just curious if Lego is going to keep the boxes red as an "Evergreen" color for the theme or if they will continue to change the box colors every year like they have so far. 2. Does the catalog list an official release date? Is it specific (i.e. January 16, 2016) or general (i.e. January 2016). Just curious if there is a chance for a North American release prior to Christmas. Even if it's a January release, they will probably be released in Asia (and therefore on Ebay) in December. 3. On 70601 and 70605, can you tell what the ships armaments are? Do they have any stud launches/stud-Gatling-guns/spring missiles? Does the turret in 70605 have any of these or is it just a "pretend gun" that swivels? 4. on 70605, Sci mentioned that the turret in the rear looked to be part of another ship (that I assume would be able to detach from the main ship). Can anyone else tell if that's the case? Does the other pirate flyer look like it can dock/attach to the main ship?

Thanks Sci! Are you able to do the other remaining sets? Can't wait to see Sky Shark!!
-
Thanks for the drawing Sci. Set looks interesting. Main building looks like a cross between Battle for Ninjago City and Spinjitsu Dojo.

This. So...yeah...I also missed...whatever happened last night. Can someone fill me (and whomever else missed it) in as to what happened? Did the retailer post set pics or just names/prices? Was Merlock the only thing shown or was other stuff revealed? Edit: Sorry I screwed up and double-posted. My bad. If a mod can delete the first post, that's fine with me! Again, sorry.
-
Umm...so I missed...whatever happened last night. Can someone briefly fill me (and everyone else that missed it) in as to what happened? Did the retailer list all the sets with pics or just the names/prices? Was Merlock the only thing that had a photo or was anything else shown?

Thanks CM4Sci for the set details and the drawings of Misfortune Keep and Zeppelin Raid. The sets look great! Are you be able to provide drawings for the other sets?
-
@Sir Gareth, @ CM4Sci, @ just2good, @Itaria No Shintaku - Thanks so much for posting the set descriptions and answering all of our questions. You all rock! A couple more... 70600: Ninja Bike Chase: Can you tell us the colors of the bikes? Brick built or the small frames with wheel/body attachments (i.e. Captain America Bike or Nya Bike from FFDB set this past summer)? Do the bikes have the typical design (Bite Cycle, Blaster Bike) or are they choppers (like Chain Cycle Ambush) or do they use a completely different design? Can you tell what weapons/armaments the bikes have (I believe someone mentioned Nya's bike having water guns which I assume are stud shooters). I assume the bikes are small given the price point of this set? 70605: Misfortune Keep This has been described in separate posts as a jet like vehicle, a flying head with thrusters/fins/hangar in mouth and a mobile command centre. At this point, is it safe to say that it is a mobile flying command centre? Is it mechanical in nature or is it more like a rock/mountain with mechanical stuff attached to it to make it fly? Does it have a handle like the mechdragon or Ronin REX to carry it around? Can you tell how large it is (Itaria mentioned that it didn't appear to be that big). What colors are the builds? Can you tell if what armaments the main build has? Hope that's not too many questions at once! Thanks again!

I think Toxicita is a placeholder. Having her present in a set would be.....very strange. Toxicita was already used in 2 sets in 2 separate waves of Ultra Agents.
-
Can you describe any features/gimmicks on the Jestro set? For the castle, can you tell if the Bull Knight is a big-fig or larger than a mini fig? Also, can you describe what the enemy build is in the castle set? Also, if you have pics of the ultimates, could you describe them?
-
I think you are correct. The 2 pods that the robot knights sit in look to be able to detach or shoot out from the main vehicle. As for what the main vehicle does when they are detached, that's harder to tell as I can't see anything in there that looks like wings. There appears to be substantial framework on the outside of the model to lock in the bikes when they are combined with the body. Unless the top piece with the giant blade and cockpit also detaches itself from the frame. Good eye though! Also, has anyone found images of the castle, ultimate sets or Jestro's companions of darkness?
-
Question: I have only seen the pics that have the six smallest sets. Are pics of the Ultimates, Castle and Jestro's Companions of Darkness out there? Comments and Observations on sets: - Hero side has the Nexo Knights themselves, Knights that aren't NK's and the little Robo-Knights - Nexo Knight's shields are dual purpose and can be used as hoverboards - nice touch - The Bull Knight definitely looks larger than the others and may be a "bulked-up" minifig - I think he comes with the castle set - Villians look to be a variety of creatures - mini lava monster things, mohawk guys, Moltor, Jestro, Giant Cyclops, etc. - None of those prelim sets have stickers or printed pieces which will only make them look better 70310: Uses the same friction launch mechanism for the disks from NInjago summer wave, generic non NK Knight. Bad guys looks to have the new crossbow. 70311: Looks like the enemy minifg sits "inside" the mouth on the front of the catapult. It almost looks like the model has trans orange rock-arms on the side so maybe the catapult is some kind of creature or mech...? Enemy fig has new "short spring loaded shooter". 70312: Robo-horse has some kind of secondary function with that wheel. Disappointed that it only has flick-fires. A bit of a shortcut on play features given recent weapon advances. 70313: I'm not even sure what this is at this point. Looks like the main feature is the up-down motion of the 2 orange rock-thinks on either side. Which I guess means it's a ground vehicle, but can't see that it has any means of locomotion. Central part of vehicle looks like it's just a big rock with teeth on the front...very weird. Minifig driving the vehicle has large gauntlets. Can't tell if if is larger than a regular minifig. Need better pics of this one. 70314: Main feature is opening and closing of "chompy mouths" at front of the podracer. Flying mecha-horse thing looks cool. 70315: Must have some kind of play-feature using the giant blade. A set at that piece-count price range has to have more features than just a shooter on the back of it. There also seems to be some kind of small build for the viking guy on the box that didn't make it into the pic, which would be expected for this level of build. You can tell from the box art that one of the small lava monsters is included with this set. Interested to see better pics eventually and also the other 3 sets. I think there are 2 retail exclusives which we will also see eventually.

Hi CM4Sci. Thanks for the descriptions. Not sure if this has been asked/answered yet but which characters and sets have the shooters?
-
Thanks for those detailed set descriptions CM4Sci! I have a couple of questions: 70601: This is more of an airplane than a ship, correct? What are the colors of the sky shark? Can you see what gimmicks/features it has? 70603: Is the zeppelin attached to the ship (i.e. is the ship suspended below the zeppelin and attached with ropes/chains?) Can you see what features/gimmicks it has? 70605: Is this a base/castle or is it more of a mobile hq or "flying fortress" type vehicle. Again, features/gimmicks that are apparent? I would also ask if you can tell the piece counts. Do any of the sets make use of the "stud gatling guns" from bionicle/ninjago blaster bike/etc.? Thanks for taking questions!!
-
Thanks for the information just2good! With regards to these sets: - Can you describe the gimmicks/action features of 70601, 70603 and 70605? - Since 70605 was supposed to be called "Tiger Widow Island" is there a land piece in that set? Or is the set name different since it is a vehicle set based on your description? Are you saying the main build looks like the Orange Ninja hover board mixed with a pirate ship? Does it have sails? - In 70603, is the zeppelin attached to the longship in some way or is it a separate build? - Also can you tell us what the secondary builds are in these 3 sets? Thanks again for doing this!
-
Itaria No Shintaku, can you provide us with descriptions of the sets and your thoughts on them? Personally, I've been very curious as to what these sets will look like since we got the names last month!
-
All good and valid points. A couple of additional observations: Images of these sets are "out there" as they are for sure in the retailer catalog. So, at this time, I would think that probably a few hundred people worldwide have seen the sets. Based on that and on prior history, we will get leaked images of these sets at some point. Not sure about if/when Chima images were leaked but I do know that an actual set would up on Ebay in, like, July of that year. Given past experience, I'm sure Lego is working harder and harder to prevent leaks but I'm sure they know they are inevitable. Even now, despite their best efforts, the logo and set lists have been disclosed. All they can do is prevent them for as long as they can and have them removed as soon as possible after they take place. And I'm pretty sure that Lego designers have a NDA with Lego that states any disclosure of confidential info would result in their automatic termination and likely black list them from working in the industry. That's why they are denying its existence! Highly doubtful they would disclose anything to anyone, even a close friend. And of course, compounding the frustration on the boards is the fact that one year ago today we had leaked images of all the winter 2015 sets. That would have been about a month sooner than we found out about the 2014 sets. I'm as guilty as everyone else in terms of "expecting" leaks now. In the next 3-6 weeks, one or all of the following things should/will happen: 1. "In the know" members will obtain some additional information on the theme/sets. 2. Stolen production samples or minifigs will show up on Ebay. 3. Images or the set prelims will show up online. We just have to be....sigh....patient.
-
Sci, I'm surprised you haven't broke the news on pics yourself yet! LOL! Asking retail staff at TRU would be a waste of time. The stores won't get the catalogs. They would go to TRU's purchasing or marketing departments which are in their regional headquarters. So, unless you have a friend who works in purchasing or marketing at a major toy retailer, you are probably out of luck. Better option is to make friends with an independent toy or hobby shop owner/manager and they might let you have a look at the catalogs. That I believe is how some other members are getting looks at prelims. In any case we will probably see prelims leaked soon.
