  1. The listed retail price for 70171 in British Pounds is 17.99. For perspective, Invisible Gold Robbery is currently listed on the Lego UK website for 17.99 Pounds. So, based on that I assume this is a regular mass release set that will retail for $20/$25 USD/CDN in N.A. when it is released. In an unrelated topic I have been trying to find box art for 70171online so that we can get some set details, but no luck! Look like we have to wait until the weekend!
  2. I think that Chima did basically what Lego hoped it would do in terms of sales, but not good enough to merit a stay of execution like Ninjago got. I think that the line skewed perhaps a bit too young and alienated some of the older kids that they were hoping would migrate to Chima in the absence of Ninjago. Speaking from experience, my son who was around 8-9 years old when Chima was introduced dismissed the sets as "too babyish" and jumped from Ninjago straight into Galaxy Squad. I think also that the over reliance on the fire vs. ice arc may have hurt it's overall sales. As for new action sets in 2016, I think that depends a lot on what is planned for Elves and Ultra Agents. UA has had a 3 wave run, but it looks like Lego has invested a lot in this line with many new parts, the app and the app bricks. Given the impending focus on Ninjago with the upcoming movie and the sunk costs already built into this theme, it may make sense to push out another wave or 2 with a story re-boot in case a new theme launch is overshadowed by Ninjago in 2016. Elves is targeted at girls and Lego may want to give it another year and 2 waves of sets to see if it can establish another girl focused theme outside of Friends. If so, that could increase Lego's sales dramatically. I think the continuation of those themes means no new action theme. But if either of those lines is cancelled, then yes I think another action theme will be incoming. And in that case, I can definitely see Lego using their experience from UA to launch another theme with an app tie in and app bricks.
  3. Huh. Looks like I was right about 70171 not being shown . Nonetheless, some nice footage of the other sets. And the "Brainjar" minifig/minibuild definitely has a large backpack (jetpack?) and what looks like a trans red base piece under the leg assembly....? Will be interesting to (eventually) see the box art and or the set at NYTF so we can see his accessories/weapons. I wonder if the red thing at the bottom is one of those new jumping/spring gimmicks that some of the Super Hero sets have?
  4. Well, from what I have seen of the summer sets they are certainly....different. The downside for me is that outside of the Destiny Bounty and Cole's Motorcycle sets, it appears that most of the sets seem to be sorely lacking in play features. No missiles, shooters, detachable pieces, hidden action features, nada. The mech's, which you would think would be very "gimmick heavy" seem to do nothing other than hold their weapons, which to me is just unacceptable in a set at that price point. Ronin R.E.X.'s main feature seems to be "turning propellers when ripcord is pulled" which is a total snore. I hope that the set descriptions will reveal more features. Also, I see that there are supposed to be 10 sets, but it looks like we only saw 5 (DB, Morrow Dragon, Mechs, Wu Dragon, REX). I know 2 of the unseen sets are Cole's bike and Jay's "Walker", but can anyone tell me what the other 3 are?
  5. The "Brainjar" fig looks to consist of a Minifigure torso sitting on a round piece with 4 spider type legs attached to the round piece. Rest of the figure is as described except that there looks to be some kind of black backpack piece attached to the torso. Might be some kind of jet pack or energy source? Tough to tell from the photo, but you can definitely see the black piece under the robot head where it hooks on to the torso and something on the back of the figure. I'm guessing that the figure has some kind of weapon as well since none of the minifigs were displayed with weapons. This figure is included in 70171 Ultrasonic Showdown (We believe, by process of elimination) along with what I am guessing is a small agent jet.
  6. Yeah, I want to see more pics too (70171 in particular), but I agree that some of you are being way too hard on the guy. Bottom line: hopefully he posts pics next week but worst case scenario we will see the sets on Feb. 14th or 15th at NYTF. There is also the possibility that pics will surface from another source before NYTF. I wonder if 70171 was even on display? I didn't see anything resembling it in the panoramic shots of the display. And not all Ninjago sets were on display either so....?
  7. So, my guess on Ultrasonic Showdown based on process of elimination from what we have seen (website video and toy fair photos) is that it will feature a small Ultra Agent jet (the one flying over the boat in the web video clip) and the "Brainjar" guy, who I guess won't get a vehicle since he already kind of is one! Look forward to the pics!
  8. You know, maybe he is in both sets. Brickset describes 70171 as "Other sets included a small, jet flown by an electricity-themed villain". And Brick Fanatics describes 70171 as "guy with electric style mask on a flying glider". Now both of those descriptions could apply to the villain vehicle in 70173, but did 2 different sites make the same error in assuming that 70171 was in fact the villain in 70173? That would be hard to believe. But then again, Brickset said that 3 of the Ninjago sets are dragons and we know that dragons are the main build of only 2 sets. It's hard to really focus on every detail when you are being whisked around the displays and subjected to what I'm sure is information overload. But if what they say is correct, then I hope that the build of 70171 is significantly different that the villain vehicle in 70173. In any case, we are probably going to get the answer to this in about 72 hours or so when we hopefully get some pics from the Nuremburg Toy Fair.
  9. The original set list from demitri had 7 sets on it. There are 7 sets shown here. I think that "Chain Cycle Ambush" is Cole's bike and "Blaster Bike" is Jai's bike ("Walker"?) vehicle. But having said that, the numbers are kind of out of whack so maybe there are some more sets to come. Summer sets look good but I want to see clear final set pics. Ronin R.E.X. looks like a one man drop ship type vehicle which may be able to launch an airjitsu pod out of its butt. It looks like a sub but that can't be since the set clearly depicts an air battle. And I have no idea what those yellow and black things are on the "wings". There are quite a few "what the heck is that" things in this wave for sure.
  10. One of the descriptions given of the lightning villain mentioned him in a glider and that fits with what is in this set. The other description mentions a small jet, which could also be this. Now this might be ultrasonic and maybe he is in both sets but I don't think that has happened in the same wave with this line with villains. Maybe we haven't seen Ultrasonic yet? As for the sets, looks like Lego has fallen in love with that grappling hook missile as it is in both sets. And from what I have seen in online reviews, it doesn't work too well when used with the rope. Boat set looks pretty good. Looks like the flyer has a bomb dropping feature. Jet back looks huge. Doubt the minifig will be able to stand with it on! Antimatter base looks.....okay.... I guess.....need to see a final pic. And given these reveals and the unknown that is 70171 Ultrasonic Showdown. I'm really curious to see that set now.
  11. Confirmed that Ultrasonic Showdown is the jet that we saw in the app trailer. Smallest set at 17.99 pounds so should be between 175-200 pieces give or take. Antimatter base looks to be smallish to at 49.99 pounds. I hope that set comes with some sort of vehicle for the Agents as the description on the base itself mentioned it wasn't that substantial.
  12. Okay, I take back what I said about Brickset's coverage of Ninjago last year. They got some decent details for us this year. I cannot wait to see those dragon sets, the Ronin R.E.X. and the Mech set! Random thing though: I just went over to Brickfanatic's website to read their coverage and their notes on Ninjago are gone! They were definitely there this morning as someone referenced them on the last page and I saw them when I skimmed over the site earlier in the day. But for some reason they have vanished. Which is a shame because it looks like they took some fairly detailed notes on all the sets and I was hoping to get some additional details!
  13. If anyone is attending the London Toy Fair and can provide us with some details on the Ultra Agents summer sets, that would be super.
  14. Although I want to get details on the summer sets as much as anyone, I would caution you all to set the bar very low for your expectations for information leaks from London Toy Fair. No photos allowed and security is very tight. Furthermore, the outlets that usually get invites to the event (Brickset comes to mind) have little to no interest in Ninjago and as such, do not bother to get details on the sets. In another 2 weeks we will get photos from the Nuremburg Toy Fair where photos are allowed.
  15. Quick update on the N.A. release date. Called Lego customer service today and point blank asked them when the sets are being released in N.A. The rep, asked me for a set # which I gave him (70166 Spyclops) and he then said "Let me check the release schedule". After a rather long pause, he told me that the sets will release in the "first quarter" he then went on to say that he wasn't able/allowed to give me the specific release date at this time. It sounded like he felt rather bad about that because he then offered (without me asking for any additional information) that his system showed that the sets weren't being released in January (obviously) or February. He then said that I should keep an eye on the N.A. websites and online store "around the 1st of March - HINT! HINT!". So...based on that last part of the conversation, it looks like a March 1st release. But, there is a small part of me that is holding out hope for Feb. 1st given the timing of the US website update with all the 2015 winter sets.
  16. I too would like to see this theme continue. Truth is, it's fate has already been decided given Lego's product planning cycle. Usually, when the term "final battle" is used, that means the theme is coming to an end. And now that we have been the enemy base set and 2 HQ's for the agents, it leads me to believe that this is it for Ultra Agents. However, there are some wildcards that could give cause for optimism for the sets to continue. Lego has invested a lot of resources in the app portion of these sets and the new interactive bricks. Now, Ultra Agents may just be the test case for the integration of building and video games within a theme and they may take their learnings from this and port them to other new themes. But they may want to use the sunk costs of their work on this existing theme to try and get some more out of it. In that case, since the current plot line will be resolved with the summer sets, they can simply introduce a new set of enemies and have another 2 waves of sets. Also, with the demise of Chima, there is a vacancy in the Action/Adventure line of sets. If they gas UA as well, then they would have to bring out 2 new lines late this year. Might be easier for them to introduce one new line in the category instead of 2. If the last stage of the game based on the summer sets ends in some kind of cliffhanger like the first series, then there is a chance that we will get more sets down the road.
  17. Hmm...that update is for the US site! Perhaps the N.A. release for the sets will be sometime soon? February 1st maybe....?
  18. @8BrickMario: Feb 1st? Where did you get that information? I believe that a couple of other posters mentioned March (not any specified day, just the month) as the release date for Ultra Agents. If they are actually being released in N.A. on Feb. 1st, then that is good news! @LegendsOfNinjago: I believe that board members have mentioned that Ninjago sets will release in March (as per above comment).
  19. I was wondering about this. Why are the sets being released so late in North America and why are the dates seemingly different this year for other regions as well.? Why did Lego not release any new sets in time for Christmas and theoreticaly cost themselves sales at the busiest time of the year for retailers (no new sets since May/June in NA). Then I thought of this: Lego is an entity and product onto itself with no real competitors in the market. Perhaps this is being done intentionally as a way to change the timing of their product releases to better capitalize on seasonal buying in the future. So now in North America, the "Winter Wave" sets dont get released until March (I believe that a member said that they saw a store release schedule that indicated Ninjago sets were not coming out in either January or February) as opposed to showing up at retail in November or December. Then, the "Summer Wave" doesn't drop until late August or September instead of May or June(since it wouldn't make sense to flood the market with a huge second wave of sets jest 2-3 months after the first wave drops). This way, Lego can get new prouduct on shelves before the Christmas season without having to release the next year's sets earlier than perhaps they would have liked. This would have been executed at the expense of some holiday sales this year, but sets things up better for the future. If so, then this will definitely change things up at the consumer end with "Wave 1" and "Wave 2" replacing winter wave and Summer wave, but with new sets still hitting the market every 6 months or so. Sorry if this is off topic, but I didn't know where else to put it!
  20. @elederberg: Yeah...I'm inclined to agree with you. That information contradicts what has been presented to us thus far and seems unlikely given the set numbering. Not sure where The Brick Fan got that info from....? Either way, we should know soon.
  21. Happy to hear that this theme gets another wave of sets! My son really likes the theme. Not sure what to make of this, but The Brick Fan mentioned in their news post about the sets that it is "rumored" that there are 6 sets in this 3rd wave and only 3 have been revealed so far. So, there is a chance that there will be even more sets coming in 2015! Given the sequencing of the sets, I would guess that the other 3 sets would be smaller. We should know in the next few weeks!
  22. Your guess is as good as mine. My son wants a couple of the sets for Christmas and I have had a devil of a time trying to find them at retail. Normally, it's not a problem as winter wave sets always show up in November or December of the prior year (i.e. we would normally see 2015 winter sets start to hit retail shelves in Nov-Dec 2014 at least in N.A.). But this year something is....different....I wonder if it is related to the article that came out in September that mentioned a shortage of Lego and Lego cancelling Q4 orders from some retailers....At this point, I would have to say that there is little to no chance of seeing these sets before year end and we are likely looking at January 2015. But having said that, a local retailer did say that they were supposed to be getting a shipment from Lego on January 1st, but they had no idea what was in the shipment. Based on what they said it could be 2015 Lego sets and they could get that shipment before Christmas as the shipment date is usually approximate. Unless Lego actually provides a release date for the sets, it's basically wait and check your local retailers (and Eurobricks Forums) periodically.
  23. Question just2good: does the catalog you saw/have show all N.A. release dates or USA only? The reason I ask is that in Canada, City, Creator and Technic sets have started to show up at TRU. If the catalog you have has all N.A. release dates I would be curious as to what it said about those lines. If it said Jan-Feb-Mar 2015 then perhaps we may see the Ninjago sets early. If it says Nov-Dec 2014 for those lines, then we may indeed have to wait until March 2015....
  24. Hmm...thanks for the information. But something still seems wrong to me. If the sets are released in March, then that only leaves 2-3 months between that release and the release of the summer wave. I can't believe that Lego would space their product launches so poorly. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
  25. just2good, are you referring to the Winter Retailer Catalog that came out in August-September? Because obviously the sets were in that catalog and would therefore be slated for a December -February release unless specifically stated, or is that info from some other catalog? Since sets from the winter catalog have started to show up at retail, I can only assume that Ninjago will hit shelves in N.A. before Christmas as they have for the last couple of years. If there is some other catalog that has a different release date specifically mentioned it is the first I have heard of it...I really don't want to have to wait until March for new sets...
