  1. *shrugs* Dunno. I don't think Lego has commented on how the line is doing. TLG likely had at least 4 waves (2 years) of sets already in the can (i.e. prototypes and moulds done). Even if it was doing badly, however many sets they designed for this wave will be the number that they release. Yup. And the summer wave was kind of small compared to Wave 1. I mentioned that it's likely that a few more sets will be revealed as time goes on. Also due to the fact that there are some "holes" in the set lineup. I just noticed that set 70350 is missing (maybe that's "Triple Rocker"?) and there should be a set that slots in price-wise between Clay's Jet and Jestro's Vehicle.
  2. Thanks for the set names/numbers/pricing. I'm pretty sure that some of these set names are going to look a lot different in a few weeks when we get more details. For example, if the story takes place in a swamp then why do we get a "Desert Dragster"? What is a Dragon Wrought? Or Disastrous Dusk for that matter? Vermilion is actually a color. A shade of reddish orange. That lines up with the info that the samurai villians are red/black. Probably vermilion and black, which would look really good I think. Vermilion Trap is probably a small landscape set like Jungle Trap or Lava Falls. Desert Dragster - hopefully not a re-hash of the jungle raider? Or a smaller version of Cole's Rock Raider? Shadow of the Destiny's Bounty - it couldn't possibly be another ship could it? We've had, what, 3-4 in the last 2 years from various themes including Ninjago? I wonder if this is a "base" type set that takes place in the wreckage of the Bounty that crashed in a swamp? I wonder if the name got messed up bad on this one...? No idea about the other sets other than I think that 76026 Disastrous Dusk might be a structure based set. I do hope that the sets have some originality to them as at first glance at the names, there appears to me to be some "re-visiting" of stuff we already have. Having said that though, I realize that there is only so much the designers can do with the theme. I just hope that the set designs continue to evolve in interesting and original ways. There does appear to be a nice selection of sets at varying price points though, which is always good to see. I think we may get a retailer exclusive that slots in at a price point above 76027.
  3. Thanks for the set list/names. I'm surprised that this wave is so small given that Nexo Knights is supposed to be getting a big push as a BB theme. Set names (if those names are correct) don't really give anything away other than there appears to be one impulse set, 2 small sets, 2 medium sets and 1 large set. I'm guessing the list is incomplete and will be rounded out by another couple of sets the same way as the first wave of sets where the library and large lava monster sets were revealed a month after the initial list leaked.
  4. It is virtually impossible that we won't get Hands of Time sets. I think that one of 2 scenarios is likely. Scenario #1: Hands of Time and ROTV sets together form the 2017 Winter Wave with typical EU/NA/ROW release dates of Jan/Mar 2017. Movie sets released worldwide in August and comprise the Summer 2017 Wave (and it will be a big wave since I recall that there are around 14 movie sets). Scenario #2: Okay, so bear with me on this and follow along with my train of thought: Day of the Dead TV series release date is quite late relative to the release of it's toy line. ROTV line will have been out for around almost 4 months prior to the start of the show. Hands of Time coming in March-April-ish 2017? Ninjago movie release date is currently September 22, 2017. That movie release date is at a very weird time of the year. Animated movies tend to come out in October - December and not in September which is usually a month reserved for more, "film festival" type movies. It would not surprise me in the least if the movie release date is pushed back to sometime in October-November. I say that pushes the release date of the movie toy line to September or October 2017 which would put it on the shelves and line it up nicely to be the hot Holiday Season items for 2017. That in turn pushes the Hands of Time sets to a March or April release. That would mean no new Ninjago stuff on shelves for 8 months. So, to fill in that gap, they release a very small (like 3 sets small) 2nd wave of ROTV sets that hit the shelves December 2016/January 2017. This would line up with the information (rumor?) going around of a small Wave 2 for ROTV. Dunno. It seems plausible to me but I am not aware of any Action/Adventure line getting 3 waves of sets in one 12 month period? If anyone has any insight on this please feel free to chime in!! I guess we will know more in the next few weeks.
  5. A few pages back, someone (I believe it was amazingbricks) mentioned that we are getting a small second wave of Day of the Departed (villains return) sets for Winter 2017. With the Ninjago movie coming out next Fall, I would guess that we will get a September 1st release of Movie sets. That leaves Summer 2017 up in the air. If we go by what was posted earlier in the forum, then perhaps we get a small wave of Hands of Time sets in Spring 2017. Otherwise, I agree that we could get a Day of the Departed/Hands of Time combo Wave in, say, March 2017 with the movie sets following in September. In any case, we should get a set list for the next Wave of Ninjago sometime this month if history is any indication. I for one, would love to get one more small wave of Day of the Departed sets before the end of the year.
  6. Are you just speculating that there will be another wave of ROTV sets...or.... "Amazingbricks, do you have something that you would like to share with the group?" LOL!
  7. As of 5 minutes ago, the Lego UK website had all the new Ninjago sets available for sale and in stock. If people from NA want to import them, you will have to go through Ebay sellers. They should be readily available and plentiful on Ebay within 2 weeks or so. Last year I picked up Titan Mech Battle from a UK seller for a price that pretty much amounted to retail (give or take $5 or so) plus the cost of shipping.
  8. A bit late to the party, but now that I have seen the Black Knight Mech I have to say that it is just...okay. The price-point, piece count and minifig selection is good and you do get multiple builds in the set. It reminds me of Master Wu's Dragon from summer 2015. The mech looks to be largely uninteresting in that it appears not to have any play functions other than the shield missile. Neither of the 2-3 pics of the mech seem to show it in a way that looks good to me. I stand to be corrected and hope that it can "do other things" besides that. The legs look weird. It appears that the mech is wearing pants and appears to not have a knee bend. The "evil hover horse" is a cool build and the scenery piece is decent. Bottom line for me is that the builds do not exceed the sum of their parts.
  9. Having now finally seen Airjitzu Battle Grounds, I have to say that I'm underwhelmed by the whole thing. It's basically a glorified "Beyblade Arena" but for airjitzu flyers. I too was expecting something connected to the Temple of Airjitzu, perhaps a smaller building piece that could connect to it with an enemy vehicle, so this is disappointing for me. Airjitzu is a gimmick whose time had come is already old news. I'm kind of puzzled as to why they would devote an entire set to it at this point in time when releasing it last year would have made much more sense. Having said that though, that is an awful lot of pieces for the price and the minifig selection is good (for those who focus on the minifigs). I'm sure that MOC'ers will get lot's of useful parts out of this. Just my 2 cents. There are plenty of other great sets in this wave and hey, they can't all be gems right?
  10. Having now seen the backs of the boxes, I see I was right about the mech having some kind of action feature on the back. In this case, a small flyer for Ronin. But what I dont get is that the flyer uses the blades from the right arm and I dont see how that works unless the blades detach and then you have to stick them on the flyer, which...doesn't make sense either. Anyone figure out how that works? The mech looks like it is loaded with action features: the flyer, flip out blades and spring shooter on right arm, net shooter and stud shooter on the left arm. The lighthouse looks really, really good and again is loaded with play features and a nice selection of mini figs. Cole's vehicle has a detachable flyer on the back, reminds me of the Thunder Raider in the 2014 winter wave. Haven't seen the back of the tumblers box yet, but I think the gimmick is 2 hidden spring shooters on the sides of the tumbler that pop out. Seen in another photo. Lloyds dragon has 2 stud shooters built into the tail, which is a nice touch. The Samurai X Cave is a nice looking set as well. 4 interesting small vehicle builds. Not sure if the cave can fold/compact or if it is one big thing. Would be nice if it could fold up! Lloyds Dragon and the Prison sets are the only obvious passes for me. The rest are all outstanding to me. I wonder if the Villains Return theme gets another wave for winter 2017 before the movie sets come out (presumably) next summer? Yeah...I'm gonna say my bad there since I think I was the most recent (if not the 1st) to say it was a $25 set when it is a $20 set. Sorry!
  11. No, it's not just you. Although I do like many of the sets in the summer wave, this one to me is the worst of the lot. I think that people who like the set tend to like it on the basis of it being a $25 set that comes with 5 minifigs. The 2 builds themselves aren't very good or original for that matter. It's like a poor man's Spinjitzu Dojo from last year's winter wave. But that build was much better and you still got the 5 minifigs including 2 elemental masters. Oh well, I won't be getting this one, but as the saying goes "they can't all be gems". This set will probably sell well though, since it is the lowest price point set, will appeal to kids as a base/playset and comes with a lot of minifigs.
  12. So...Brickset is reporting that someone found the images for the next release of Mixels (October release) in the Lego website's cache. So....chances are, if those images are in the cache and since images for other themes summer sets are out there, perhaps Ninjago images are in that cache as well. So....does anyone who knows how to look for that stuff want to go cache fishing??
  13. Hmm...not sure about an all out "Animal Motif" theme given that Chima just ended and was perhaps not as successful as Lego had hoped it would be (i.e. it didn't earn a stay of execution beyond it's planned run). But since we are guessing/speculating, In 2017, I could see: - Some kind of small mechs for all of the knights at the Ultimate price point or slightly higher. Basically a small exo-skeleton (I once referred to this idea as a Nexo Skeleton) similar to the small polybag mech that Jay got in the last wave of Ninjago, but with more pieces and better weaponry - More mechs in general, since this is a Lego in-house action/adventure theme and Lego seems to have a love affair with mechs (not that I'm complaining) - a new enemy faction is that neither the mushroom people or the sea/swamp people revealed in the books - A large castle for the Knights - "Castle Knighton" or some such thing - Dragons or other mythical medieval beasts like chimeras, Pegasus, griffon - perhaps in Robotic form - New versions of the knights weapons We will know exactly what to expect in 3 months or so!
  14. I believe that he is asking about the 2 Ninjago sets that haven't been revealed yet. Spinjitzu Temple Grounds and Samurai X Cave and if either you or J2G had any information on those sets.
  15. From what I've seen, release dates are all over the map. EU release date for Ninjago is supposedly July 1st. Then a bunch of sets (not Ninjago, but I do believe Nexo Knights) went up on Amazon France/UK with a June 1st release date. Those Amazon listed sets originally showed release dates of July 1st at EU Toy Fairs. NYTF photos showed release dates of August 1st for NA. So....EU looks like July 1st, but might be available on Amazon UK by June 1st and NA looks like August 1st, but again perhaps some other retail outlets (online retailers) may have the sets earlier than that. I'm just hoping that set descriptions and photos for the summer wave (including the 2 sets we haven't seen) start showing up online sometime soon.
  16. Toy designing can be a fickle mistress I guess and I while I have tremendous respect for Lego's designers, the Thunder Mace falls squarely into the category of "they can't all be gems". The set could have really benefited from another 20-25 pieces or so to make the vehicle a bit more substantial and I'm not sure why they didn't do just that as it should have still kept the set within it's design budget. To draw a similar comparison the Blaster Bike from last summer's Ninjago wave had a similar gimmick and a piece count of around 235 or so. So, not sure why they had to cut corners on the Thunder Mace? However, over the last couple of years Lego has done some great sets in the $20 price range in the Action/Adventure category. So I can pretty-much give them a pass on the Thunder Mace. The rest of the wave looks really good.
  17. Thanks for the photo of the Black Knight Mech. On screen it looks almost identical to The King's Mech. I hope that the actual build will differ significantly from the King's. I have to believe so, since it would not make sense to release 2 mechs that are so similar in the same calendar year. My hunch is that this mech might be slightly smaller than The King's Mech, maybe an inch or so. I believe the KM build is around 320 pieces or so. So assuming something similar here, that leaves another 210 pieces for minifigures and secondary builds. Since Whiparella is pretty much a given, I think that a spider globlin rounds out the included characters and the other build(s) which would account for the other 190 or so pieces could be either the lava golem as a large build (a bit smaller than Infernox) for Whiparella to ride on or a smaller "Sparkks-sized" golem (which would be around 100 pieces which is what Sparkks is) and another small model.
  18. D'oh! Brain cramp. Was looking at the $CAD price of $74.99. Yeah, the piece count is actually quite good. Looks like we got pics of City of Stiix in May last year, so....might be a while!
  19. So, neither set is a small one which I guess is somewhat disappointing to me....70590 might contain several large pieces since the piece count is a bit small given the price point. I agree with other posters that 70596 is probably a "City of Stixx" type set and both are likely retail exclusives. Given the large number of building sets in this wave, I hope that at least one of these sets has a decent vehicle build component and that the vehicle is a villain one as those seem a bit under represented in this wave. Any ideas as to when we might see pics of these sets...?
  20. My guess is that it will either be similar in size or slightly smaller than the King's Mech, but perhaps a bit wider/more dense. I think that Whiparella is in this set pretty much by process of elimination. Given the set's pricepoint, I would say 3 minifigs and a small minion. So, Robin, perhaps one Nexo Knight, Whiparella and a Spider Globlin. I hope that the Black Knight Mech is different in looks from the King's Mech and hopefully it is loaded with action features/shooters/weaponry. Also, if it mounts any heavy weapons on the arms, hopefully they learned from the King's Mech and will use ratchet joints so the arms can stay up! As for the builds, I think this could be one of those sets where there are 2 builds both with substantial piece counts as opposed to one large build and one tiny build. So, perhaps something similar to Titan Mech Battle. Or given it's piece count to price ratio, it could be something like Master Wu's Dragon, where there were a lot of pieces included for the price, but the count was split into several builds. Not sure what kind of vehicle Whiparella could fit into given the tail piece, maybe more of a platform-type thing? The price point is great for the number of pieces included. Looking forward to seeing pics of the set. It will likely be a Store Exclusive since it was not shown at any Toy Fair and it's existence has been unknown until recently.
  21. So, now that we have had another look at the sets I have to say that the Salvage M.E.C.H. is growing on me. It looks like a cross between a Big Daddy from Bioshock and a Roman gladiator. It also looks to have quite a few action features. The right hand/arm can be configured either as a giant crossbow with the blades extended and using the wrist mounted missile launcher, or the blades (which are on "click hinges"...is that what those are called?) can be extended out to form a huge double-bladed sword! The left hand has a net that can be launched via the attached studs by the arm mounted stud shooter. There also looks to be some kind of jetpack or rocket array on the back of the mech. And the tie-fighter cockpit is an interesting touch and works with the overall design of the mech. Hope Ronin minifig comes with all of his weapons/gear. Ronin's Mech and Cole's vehicle look to be in the same size box with similar piece counts so assume they are both $50 USD sets. Pretty good value for what lego has included in each one. The small prison set is pretty bad from a build perspective. Looks like a poor man's version of the dojo from last year. But still, 5 minifigs in a small set is pretty decent. Not sure where the tumbler was...did someone at TLG forget to bring it? Lloyds dragon set looks okay....maybe a bit too similar to the Morrow Dragon set from last year...? Looks like they committed a lot of pieces to the pirate catapult that at the end of the day....is....just a catapult... Lighthouse set looks great. Pretty much everything you could want in a set of it's size/price. Raider set also looks great. Raider build is a huge improvement over the original and Chen's dino-chair-mech thing is a cool build. Expensive set, but lots going for it. I think that one of the 2 "mystery sets" - probably the Temple Grounds - is a smaller one and the other one larger than the Raider. We should know in the next 2 months or so I guess. At this point, my son and I will probably end up getting the lighthouse, mech, tumbler and maybe the temple grounds if it is a smaller set.
  22. I agree. I don't think that the characters shown in the book are an indication of future waves. Given TLG's overall secretive behavior regarding future sets and their desire to do everything possible to prevent leaks, it is highly doubtful that they would show future characters in development in this way. The more likely scenario, is that the characters shown are unused concepts or designs that Lego is recycling into the book so that they get some usage out of them.
  23. I think that the summer sets (best to worst) are: 1. Axl's Tower Carrier. 2. Jestro's Volcano Castle. 3. Aaron's Aero Striker 2.0 4. Glob Lobber 5. Thunder Mace Axl set brings some very interesting things: Vehicle splitting function, the mobile tower/turret is great and the hidden catapult feature is also a neat function. The lava golem is a nice add in and looks really impressive - better than Sparkks in my opinion. And the price point, while on the higher end of the scale, is still in the realm of the reasonable. Was going to post set opinions, but I'm way late! Will wait to see the NYTF pics.
  24. London Toy Fair starts on Sunday. Brickset and 1-2 other UK Lego sites are always given invitations to attend. There is a 100% chance that Nexo Knights sets will be at this Toy Fair including the summer wave sets given their "Big Bang" status as Lyichir mentioned above. In the past, Brickset tended to provide the most detailed descriptions, but a lot of how much description was given depended on how much personal interest the Brickset reps had in the themes. For example, up until last year they paid almost no attention whatsoever to Ninjago because they didn't like the theme. However, to their credit, when their community complained about the lack of coverage, they provided decent descriptions of the sets last year. I imagine that KN will get decent coverage given it's status and the fact that the guys at Brickset do seem to like the theme overall! I would look for a brief overview of the sets with perhaps 1-2 details about each one. Good thing is, with more than 1 site in attendance, you can get multiple descriptions. What the websites all say though is that they are basically given a "guided tour" through Lego's booth accompanied by a Lego rep and that they only have a limited amount of time to look at each theme which makes taking detailed notes challenging. So, yeah, we will know more by I guess Monday. But Nuremberg Toy Fair starts I believe next Wednesday or Thursday and they allow photography. Usually a couple of clips will show up on YouTube so we will definitely see them by next weekend.
  25. It has been hinted/suggested that the Jestro in the volcano base set will be quite different from the minifig in the Evil Mobile and may not even be a minifig at all (Big Fig/Brick Built). In any case, we could get some set details/descriptions from the London Toy Fair this weekend which shed some light on this. There is also the possibility of some leaked images like we have received with other themes.
