Yeah, I'm not sure where the "2 days" is coming from either. But the Nuremberg Toy Fair starts later next week immediately following the London Toy Fair. Photos are allowed at that Toy Fair, so one way or another, we will have some pics of all summer sets by the end of next week and probably some set descriptions prior to that from LTF.

Fortrex is a great set. Main build is impressive and is the "Signature" set for the hero side. However, the secondary builds (the knight builds in particular) are very mediocre. Good selection of minfigs/characters. Piece count is exaggerated by track and stud launcher ammo as others have mentioned. It's also the highest priced set in the wave. The Rumble Blade is, quite simply, an engineering marvel. 4 separate vehicles that can be played with individually and combined into 3 different configurations (Rumble Blade itself, base and Clay Bot bikes and base and Clay's fighter jet). The engineering is even more impressive when you consider the size of the fully combined vehicle (it is not very large) and the fact that not a 1/4 inch/mm of space was wasted. This could have easily been a $60USD set, but Lego gave it to us at a $40 price point, which is just amazing. This is by far the best vehicle set of the wave and an excellent value when you consider the points I just made. I bought this for my son for Christmas and we both love to fiddle with it! So, in case my gushing didn't give it away - you owe it to yourself to get the Rumble Blade! Also, consider this: In the next wave we get a set called "Axl's Mobile Tower" or Axl's Tower Carrier (depending on which site leaked the set names). If you take the first name at it's face value, what you may end up getting is a smaller version of Fortrex at a price point of around $50USD less than Fortrex. I'd get the Rumble Blade now and hold out until we see pictures of the summer wave and wait for Fortrex to come on sale.

Just an FYI for those of us in North America: Both the Canadian and USA online lego shops have the Skybound Sets listed and "Coming Soon March 1st" in the listings. This means that the sets will probably be available at TRU and Target sometime around mid-February.

Just speculation on my part based on the sets that have been released and the picture of the Thunder Mace. I do not wish to violate any Eurobricks policies or get in trouble with Mods! In any case, I have no access to prelims.
-
Huh. Indeed they did. Prelim pics have historically shown up in waves so yeah, we should get prelims for Nexo Knights and other themes in the next few days/week or so. I'm sure with the Star Wars images having shown up that E.B. members (spies ) are on the look out for images.
-
I would also like to say thanks for sharing the pic of the Thunder Mace. Looks like a futuristic-style chopper. Gimmick is definitely the stud-gatling guns on (I assume) either side. The model itself looks okay for what it is (i.e. a lower price point set). Several sets in this theme have exposed technic beams and I don't really mind that. This is a USD$20 set and this build looks to have around 150 pieces or so in it so hopefully, they do include some kind of vehicle or build for the lava faction in the set and not just a minifig. I would assume that one of the new villian figs would be included in this set. If you end up only getting this build and 2 minifigs then, yeah, I agree it falls short on the value front. I would imagine though that this set will include Macy's Squire-Bot. Aaron's vehicle in this wave is (I believe) a larger, more fleshed out version of his "vehicle" in the fortrex set, that being a crossbow shaped flyer. His vehicle in Fortrex does have a name (can't recall it right now), but it is certainly pushing it to call that build a vehicle. I think the summer wave set will be much larger flyer based on the Fortrex model. I'm thinking a flying version of the Blade Cruiser with the crossbow forming the middle part of it.

I agree with both of your comments. I think it's a function of the evolution of Lego's products and merchandising strategy in the Action theme segment. With Nexo Knights and Ninjago in particular Lego would probably say that they have gone beyond including minifigs in their sets and now include "Characters" in the sets. Those characters could be minifigs - or small "minions" - or Big-Figs - or buildable figures (i.e. Sparkks) - or a book (BofE) - or even a banner (Merlock). Perhaps this is Lego's Order of Things for Action/Adventure themes going forward? Now most of those things are not minifigs in the classic sense of the world, but all add some play/collect-ability/display value to the sets themselves. I personally don't mind that they list the Merlock banner piece or the Book of Evil at the bottom of the box. I would measure the overall value of a set based on the total sum of its parts. I would say that both of the sets that include those items (Fortrex & Evil Mobile respectively) offer good overall value. We may need to adjust our thinking to: Is the set lacking in characters vs. lacking in minifigs. I also don't like getting fewer minfigs in sets, especially at higher price points. But at least in NK's case, the figures themselves (Knights) have a huge amount of accessory pieces and are very highly detailed. I do think that the inclusion of fewer mini-figs in each set is a deliberate move on TLG's part to encourage the purchase of additional sets to collect all of the characters in the line and in some cases, the inclusion of certain characters exclusively in high-priced sets to drive sales of TLG's highest margin products.

Well, assuming that the prices Sci quoted are $USD, then the Ronin Mech set should have around 375-425 pieces. The actual size of the mech will depend on how bulky it will be and what other builds come with it. Assuming that the mech is the main build and there will be some sort of secondary build for the bad guys, we are probably looking at something between 6.5 inches to 7.5 inches tall, not including flags/banners/spikes on the top/back that stick up over the body of the mech. I also wonder if this will be the "Kendo-Mech" from the Shadow of Ronin game. I think it just might be.
-
Let's wait to see a set list that is in English so we get the actual set names and hopefully a better idea of the sets contents for all of the sets. I'm really surprised that they included a $10-ish set in the summer wave, but good for Lego for providing consumers with a wide range of sets in both waves. Looks like Axl is once again exclusive to a high price-point set, but at least there is the Ultimate set to acquire him relatively inexpensively. As for set contents, based on what we know and the list above: 70318 - Small villain vehicle. Hopefully not too similar to the Chaos Catapult, but sounds like it might be... 70319 - AKA Thunder Mace - Macy's vehicle from the App 70320 - AKA Aero Flyer V2 - Flyer for Aaron...I guess a bigger version of the "Flying Crossbow" from Fortrex...hopefully it will be better than that model 70321 - Magmar's vehicle...siege engine type of vehicle, perhaps the one shown in the app 70322 - AKA Tower Carrier - Axl's vehicle - looks like a big set - not sure what it could be...taking the name literally (Tower Carrier is correct since that's from Lego's website) It could either be a mobile tower with some sort of "deployer" type vehicle(s) on or inside it. But that might be a bit too similar to the Fortrex. What if it was a vehicle that had some kind of a deploy-able turret. So the vehicle carries the tower vs. the tower carries the vehicle? 70323 - The aforementioned volcano castle Wasn't there supposed to be a retail exclusive as well? Anyone seen the sets in a retail catalog that can provide actual descriptions?
-
Given the rather spindly look of what we think may be Jestro's lava castle/tower/base, I think that set may feature several builds as opposed to the castle being one single huge build. So more of a City of Stixx type set as opposed to a Fortex type set. So I could see that set containing the volcano castle, a secondary villian build and a reasonably sized knight vehicle and Jestro being either a big fig or a small 100 piece-ish figure build like Sparkks. As for the Toy Fair schedule and what to expect, it would be as follows: London Toy Fair: Jan 24th to Jan 26th No photos allowed. However, some websites are invited to attend it (Brickset for one) and often provide brief descriptions of the sets. Convention attendees often post more detailed descriptions about specific sets in the various forums for those sites (and also here on Eurobricks). Nuremburg Toy Fair: Jan 27th to Feb 1st Photography allowed. Will have pics by this time at the latest. New York Toy Fair: Feb 13th to 16th Photography allowed. Covered by most major North American sites/YouTubers/Bloggers. Expect video coverage and detailed set descriptions.

That is hilarious on so many different levels. I wonder what that dude's end game is for all those sets given that they will be available pretty much everywhere tomorrow...? Speaking of tomorrow....summer set list incoming...?? *looks at CM4Sci, just2good, amazingbricks*
-
But bear in mind that this is the N.A. release date for those sets in Lego Stores. If prior history is any indication, they will be readily available in other retail outlets (TRU, Target) by mid-February.

Got my son the Blade Cruiser and Evil Mobile for Christmas. Have to say that both sets are just excellent. The Blade Cruiser is a 6 in 1 model (2 bikes, jet, ballista/command centre, jet & command centre combined, all vehicles combined) and truly an engineering marvel in itself. Its combined form is very cohesive and surprisingly compact and it didn't end up "sacrificing" anything to pull off its splitting gimmicks. It has a generous assortment of figures. The set is good value for the money given the multitude of play features/options built into the vehicle. The only knock against the set in my opinion is the lack of an enemy vehicle to fight the Cruiser. If I had to pick just one set to get from this wave, this would be it. The Evil Mobile is an interesting hybrid of a siege engine/mobile HQ. It is wide and high, but not very deep. The gimmicks are somewhat lackluster in my opinion but all work well and the model itself has a certain "presence" to it when displayed. Also, the rear prison/hatch area can hold 2-3 mini figs without interfering with the interior saw blades. Sparks is a nice little build, with 100 pieces used in its construction. Lance's horse is also a great small build. From a playability standpoint, the set has tons of options. The only drawback is that there are only 2 mini figures included in the set, which to me is just inexcusable in a $70 set. Now, they count Sparks as a figure so there is that. but to me he is a buildable model and not a fig. But still, with 2 very solid mini figs (Lance and Jestro are great) and 3 strong builds, it's pretty much everything you could want in a set of its price. As for the knights themselves, the mini figs look superb. Highly detailed, lots of accessories and they look very menacing when fully armored and armed. My son loves the sets (he is also a huge Ninjago fan and to a lesser extent, Star Wars). I think that Lego has a potential winner here and I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for this line. If the 2 sets we have are any indication, it's going to be very bright indeed!

Not sure about a mech suit, but perhaps more like a Frankenstein monster? Also, aren't the sets supposed to be released in the UK in January? If so, we should be seeing some in-hand reviews in the next couple of weeks.

So, with summer wave news soon to be incoming, I figured I'd take a stab at speculating on the content of the summer wave. We know that there will be 4 ultimate's (Axl, Lance, Flame-Head and Other Lave Villian) and that the largest set is the "Volcano Castle". I believe someone mentioned that the summer wave has 7 sets (not including Ultimate's) so I think it might break down like this: 1 X $125 - $150 Set - The Volcano Castle 1 X $100 Set - Knighton City Set (including a vehicle for Aaron?) 1X $75 Set - A large Nexo Knight Vehicle 1X $50 Set - A medium sized Lava Villian Set (perhaps the vehicle from the show/trailer with the "Bear Trap Helmet Guy") 1X $30 Set - A medium sized Nexo Knight Vehicle (Axl?) 2 X $20 - $25 Sets - One Nexo Knight Vehicle (Macy's Mace Vehicle?) and one Lava Villian Set (Golem with Rider?) I doubt we will get any $12-$15 sets in this wave. Also, I assume that Axl, Macy and Aaron will get their own vehicles since only Clay and Lance got their own vehicles in Wave 1. Similarly, I think that Lance and Axl will get hover horses in this wave. Axl and Macy will probably be featured a bit more heavily in this wave since they are each in only one set in Wave 1 and all other knights were in 2 or more sets.

I've noticed something about the sets in that the smaller one's seem to have similarities to the larger sets. For example: Chaos Catapult could be seen as a smaller version of Jestro's Evil Mobile with one of the larger feature's gimmicks (lava catapult). Knighton Battle Blaster is pretty much a smaller version of the Blade Cruiser's "Frame" vehicle in it's Ballista/Command Centre mode. On one hand, interesting to have smaller, cheaper sets that mimick some features of the larger sets. But on the other hand, to me it causes some duplication. I'm not sure if the similarities were intentional on the part of the designers. Still, a good thing for anyone who is on a budget. Thanks to Just2Good and everyone else for posting/sharing the reviews. The sets all look very good and I like the fact that there are so many sets available at so many different price points in this line. I'm looking forward to seeing reviews of the Jestro and Infernox sets (I think those are the only one's without a review on YouTube) sometime soon. And for future reference (and not to toot my own horn but I did call it) an "Official" release date of January 1st means that sets will be readily available mid-December. At least in North America anyways. Bless you Walmart, TRU, Target and B&N!
-
Further to Kwatchi's earlier post, Amazon.ca now has the Lava Smasher, Rumble Blade and Chariot listed for sale with delivery by December 22nd.
-
These are being sighted in Walmart? Wow. They are usually last to get any new Lego sets. It looks like they only have 4 sets though so they may not have received a full shipment of the entire wave and those shipments may be isolated to a few stores. The sets are not on Walmart's website so that might be the case. Amazon still has only the 2 sets - Fortrex and Evil Mobile. I think TRU will should have them by next week.
-
Thanks for the heads-up on the Amazon Canada listings. My son is now getting Jestro's Evil Mobile for Christmas! And I didn't have to pay an Ebay markup! As I mentioned in a previous post, these sets will be available before Christmas given the "official" Jan. 1 release date. For those of you in the USA, there are currently listings for the library, horse, lava smasher and blade cruiser on Ebay. Prices are around double retail, but they are there. And chances are, they have already seen a limited retail release which is how I assume the sellers got theirs. Also, while searching for the sets at various Toys R Us' at one store, I was told by the Lego area worker that their store shipping report said that their store was getting the sets on December 20th. At another store, TRU's Lego rep happened to be in the store when I called and I spoke to him. He was very helpful and told me that the sets should be in TRU's distribution centres in the next couple of days and in retail stores within a week after that. He said it was very likely that they would have the sets before Christmas. So, take that with as large a grain of salt as you would like, but that's what I was able to find out. I actually got this info last Thursday and Friday, but I was hesitant to mention it. Now that the sets are starting to show up, what I was told does make sense. Hopefully, the info is accurate. Happy hunting!

Having now seen the official set photos, to me the best sets of the wave are Tiger Widow Island and Raid Zeppelin. TWI looks to be priced very well with a lot of "stuff" in the set making it a good value. The Zeppelin has a great design, kind of like a miniature DB. Not sure about Misfortune's Keep. I wish it looked a bit more technological and a little less "scrapyard". Looks to have a lot of content and features though, so need to see a review before I make my mind up. Jai's dragon looks...small. Smaller than Wu's dragon and perhaps quite a bit smaller. Which isn't a bad thing for me. The small sets look...not so good this time around. Although Sky Shark could be the exception there. Will be interesting to see when these sets start to show up on retailer shelves. I believe it's Jan 1 for the UK and R.O.W. is unknown at this point?
-
The volcano-castle sounds interesting and is likely the flagship/final battle set for the first wave of Nexo Knights. I am more interested to know what the rest of the "meh" sets consist of! Hopefully we get some more details soon. And this is very early to be getting summer wave info! On another matter, given that the UK release date for KN is January 1st, we should see official set descriptions, etc. posted on Lego UK's shopping website this week as they usually put them up 2 weeks before release with the "Coming Soon On..." US teaser site may also get updated this week.
-
So, I asked Huw at Brickset about the status of the Nexo Knights set reviews and if he could confirm which sets he had. Huw got back to me right away (really good customer service on his part) and advised me that he has "a couple of polys" and that they plan to review them "in the next day or so". So, I guess that puts the "Lego is banning reviews" discussion to rest. Given what we know, I'm assuming the 2 sets he has are the Knight Cycle and Robin's Mini Fortrex as those were, I believe, the "in hand" photos on Brickset's database. So, thanks to Huw for clearing all of that up! Looking forward to the reviews.

Given that Brickset are so very sensitive about cooperating with Lego on leaked images, embargo's etc. I have to believe that they would have asked for and received approval from TLG prior to even stating that they had a set (s) to review. I believe that same post mentioned they had sets from other lines to review as well. From what I can tell, they have not done any 2016 set reviews on the site as of today. So, what I think may have happened is that they simply had other things to do this weekend and simply didn't get to the reviews. Or they have reviews from other lines that they are working on before the NK review. Huw is quite good about responding to emails, so if you are curious as to the status of the review, you can always ask him and see what he says. Also, given that Brickset has a partnership with Jangbricks, they may have sent him the set to do a video review for them, which would delay things somewhat due to shipping, etc. If anyone does ask him what's up, I would be curious to know which NK sets he has or if it was just they cycle polybag as a previous poster had suggested. As for TLG trying to keep the sets off the shelves or any news from leaking I can see them trying to do both. It would not surprise me if they have sent a few sets to selected websites, YouTubers for review to generate some hype, but they might have told them to wait until midnight New Years Day to post them. As for the release date, well I still believe that the sets will be available prior to Jan 1st. Either TRU or local independent retailers will break the street date. It seems to always happen.
-
Huh. Both listings have been taken down. Now, I think that at this point in time (given the Jan 1st release date and the fact that all set images are now known to the public), it has nothing to do with Lego cracking down on retailer leaks. So, either TRU themselves decided it was too early to put up a pre-order on the site or whomever did the update screwed up and only put up 2 of the sets. In that case, perhaps they took the 2 down so they could re-do the page with all of the sets on it...? I guess we will know in the next few days.
-
My apologies. I was questioning the source as I completely missed the comments in that article on Brickset (they buried the Nexo Knights news in an article about Advent Calendars). Thanks BrickJagger for bringing the news to the board and to Sci for the information and clearing that up for me! Looking forward to the review. Given that Brickset has a set(s) in hand, I wonder if the sets will start hitting retail shelves sooner than the formal release dates announced for Lego Stores?
