  1. I made quite a few errors - mostly color and not quantity, like ordering Light Bluish Grey when I needed Dark Bluish Grey - but unless you are meticulous and precise in everything, its very miss a couple of things.
  2. I would imagine there would be some leftovers (you only need one revolving door for instance) but not a whole lot..
  3. This thread is interesting and I know its been raised from the dead but are these boxes still available for purchase at Lego stores?
  4. Other than where baseplates are entirely visible (e.g. blue baseplates to represent water) I don't quite see how baseplate color is relevant. I just use whatever is on hand..
  5. Its a continual learning process. Why not do up the building you have in mind (following the modular rules but of course do bear in mind these are not set in stone), post it up here for people to have a look and to offer suggestions for improvement? No one is going to design an amazing modular at the first go but each time you do it you will learn more and more. If you can't get your hands on the Lego ones you can try having a look at the instructions (you can download them directly from Lego) to see how Lego designers do it.
  6. They look very scalable as well, just buy 2x or 3x of everything and voila - almost modular scale building. Just need to add a bunch of 1 x 4, 1 x 6 and 1 x 8 bricks for the sides and back.
  7. One thing though, pretty sure the 2 x 3 x 2 Cupboard (4532 / 4532a) doesn't come in Brown or Reddish Brown..
  8. Well its decently priced and value for money. Of course its not fancy hardwood and whatnot, but it works.
  9. Probably not relevant since stock levels across various BL sellers will change over time. I've ever found a piece at a particular seller and not check out immediately, only to come back a day or two later to find it gone :( This has happened more than once..
  10. Actually in Singapore its first / second floor, but I've spent far too many years in Europe so..
  11. Is there any way to pay via paypal? That way there is at least some protection if its a scam.
  12. I wish Lego would make buildings like this.
  13. Apparently Huw sold out to Mattel..
  14. Add an additional first floor.
  15. Oh this is awesome. Really has a police station feel, even more so than those that Lego churns out every year in City.
  16. Dark Red for the awning matches the pram and the second floor curtains - I like! I think I still like the Viking print for the door though, and they're not that steep on BL.
  17. Has to do with its origins maybe, MS is technically a fan creation and was sold as "Lego Factory" IIRC.
  18. Not really, some BL sellers package very well to minimise scratching. Am done building my GG and am now moving on to CC. Am considering adding an additional first level, to make it one level taller/higher. Looks like the additional investment in bricks shouldn't be that much, as I already have a ton of reddish brown bricks so just need to make the facade, which except for the white panels (which am probably going to replace with either the cheaper versions or regular windows). Anything else in there that's ridiculously priced? I know about the 2 x 10 reddish brown ones too, which is easy to sub out.
  19. I did the medium blue awning as well, but didn't really like it so I wound up biting the bullet and ordering the regular blue curved bricks for that. Same thing for the dark red inverted slopes that forms curtains on the first floor, I thought I could get away with red but decided dark red looked much, much nicer (hard to explain but more lustrous and luxurious somehow) so had to order again. Bugged me even more than the medium blue awning. At least subbing 1 x 2 , 1 x 4 and 1 x 6 bricks for the 1 x 8 worked, just had to pay attention to use combinations of 2 1 x 4s and 1 x 6 with 1 x 2 equally. It's like someone once told me, trying to cut corners and save a penny or two here and there will most of the time wind up costing more in the long run.
  20. Yep, same here. Although I hope I don't regret this two years down the road when the Fire Brigade is $500...
  21. Those are very cute!
  22. Unfortunately Lego already said no to Moe's Pub, no alcohol related sets.
  23. For the life of me I can't figure out why Olivia's House is still available but a whole bunch of other smaller Friends' sets from 2012 (Butterfly Beauty Shop!) have been retired.
  24. Yeah, why don't they do the pizza box style packaging anymore? Dissapoint. Also, I was the person who originally posted the comment on rooting through pieces - just meant it as a warning for others not to repeat my mistake but its been interesting to see how different people do it!
  25. Now you need to take them to your nearest Walmart for full store credit..
