  1. Considering the length of time it was available for sale (about 4 years?) and given the rising popularity of modulars during that time, I would imagine most people who would've wanted one would have purchased one already, and far more wannabe-scalpers purchased additional sets for sale after retirement than say, Green Grocer. Both these factors should hopefully serve to keep prices down post retirement, allowing new AFOLs just exiting their Dark Ages now to pick up a set for a reasonable price. One can hope, at least.
  2. To everyone that's doing this, here's a tip - do not just open and dump all your BL / BnP / PAB orders into one giant box. I seriously regret doing that. I thought I would be fine given I'm usually pretty good at picking out specific pieces from a box of Lego (besides, I find the sound of Lego bricks rustling against each other therapeutic - there's a Danish(?) word for it that I forget) but trying to find one single element out of 2000+ nearly drove me crazy.
  3. The castle in the background between the two contemporary modulars is kinda out of place though...
  4. I can still find it locally for retail, though I suspect that's probably not the case for people in the good old US of A.
  5. Kragggleeeeeeeee :(
  6. You can use a bit of silicone sealant to fix that.
  7. Well, IMO new cars tend to be kind of... boring. Nothing iconic about a minivan.
  8. It TOTALLY reminds me of random places in England you can pop into for tea and scones. Extremely accurate!
  9. Nice, but this thread needs to have a WIP label..
  10. Love the use of Technic bricks for portholes.
  11. I think flipped open would work for standalone buildings, but once you line them up together in a street or city layout you'd have collision problems with the building next door.
  12. Couldn't have put it better myself. Also, other people's MOCs are another good way to learn building techniques.
  13. Epically amazing. Do you have a rough estimate of the number of bricks in there?
  14. Ah this won't work cause its a creator 3 in 1 set..
  15. Well, one point that immediately comes to mind (and has also been mentioned here) can be summarised in one word - play. I do understand that modulars are aimed at a different crowd from your City / Friends sets, which are mainly meant for play and have open backs, but if people want to repurpose the modulars for play purposes by making them open back, who's to say they cant?
  16. Well, if you can find sets at RRP buy one get one 50% off is a pretty decent deal. Managed to pick up some friends sets for MOCs, thanks for the heads up.
  17. I never really thought about it, but this sounds brilliant. A little bit of work to take the backs off while still ensuring stability (though the stairs on the back of green grocer would be sad), saving bricks and allowing for more play. What's there not to like!
  18. love the pink and light bluish grey tiling!
  19. Once I saw the submarine I knew I wanted one, sad that they didn't make it though and went with the Sea Cow instead.
  20. This is awesome. I was going to do something similar with trans-clear windows and panels, but am quite digging the trans-light-blue look too. Hrm.
  21. The humungo grey one is 48 x 48 i think.
  22. Oh gee you guys are amazing. I had all these random vague ideas in my mind on how OP could do this and try to put them into words, and then next time I log back on there are a dozen iterations of LDD renders, each better than the last, and illustrating specific concepts on why they were done this way.
  23. This is amazing. It reminds me of some of the displays at Legoland with moving vehicles and ships as well.
  24. Has anyone tried it on a portable console? I.e. 3DS / Vita. How is it compared to the regular console version?
  25. That reminds me of the Apple store in Regent Street, London.
