  1. Class A 1218 Class J 611 FEF-3 844 Chcallenger 3985 Big Boy 4014
  2. That is not packing, they all do it. 3 HE and pass and cargo sets and all had some manner of warping. Once assembled all is well, but still annoying to see.
  3. I have to ask, do you share your plans? My son would flip over this if we built one together. I actually have held UP stock for 20 years this year as well, lifelong fan. I am dying for the day where I can go up Sherman Hill on an excursion behind 4014, let alone see 844, 3985 and 4014 in steam together. Your work is just awesome
  4. Build it, build it, build it. That is all.
  5. I'm hoping American steam or diesel. I will be happy either way. Always been a toy store/section lurker and my Transformer habit never went away, just sat below the surface. Lego I do for my son and the fact that we both like trains. Kills me seeing the Santa Fe, BNSF and Maersk stuff going for so much money when I literally held them all in my hands at one point or another perusing the toy aisles. That being said, my boy turned 4 in March and I would love to get him some more USA style engines for him to play with and for me to endlessly rebuild. We have the cargo and passenger train, 3 HE's(I need a complete train too lol), extra Lego track, ton of Enlighten track, couple bulk Lego train purchases and one massive bulk lot Lego purchase. I have to stretch the almighty dollar as far as it can go, so sales and specials are the norm, double the retail price is not.
  6. I finally saw them both in store this past weekend. At $200 for the cargo and $150 for the passenger train, I won't be snagging these anytime soon. However I will begin hunting down sales on them :-) I haven't payed full price for a train yet and I'm not going to start now.
  7. Again an awesome build.
  8. Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love seeing American steam
  9. I hate you, in a very good demented way. Your work is awesome, forcing me to buy instructions as money permits Beautiful job on a beautiful engine.
  10. Ummmmm..... Lego is a toy, doesn't matter of you are young or old, it is a toy That aside, I myself do disparage the continual onslaught of pieces that could have been done by brick. We have hollow buildings using large flat panels where bricks would work, cargo containers made from 10 large pieces where bricks would work. Most of us here are serious/semi-serious about building stuff and is disappointing when we get more special mini fig molds or giant molded parts where actual bricks that already exist could be used instead and could be use in other builds as well.(some of the pieces are awesome, I won't lie) I do find it kind of sad, because I think it takes away some of the magic that is "Lego". I also hate the fact that while I do overall like the new train sets, I will not be buying them until I see a serious discount on them and large pre-molded parts are part of my decision. I would rather my son build(with me or by himself), rather than plop on a nosecone. We did the entire TGV together, whether it was made for adult fans or not.
  11. Nice job. It's always good to see kids thinking and using their hands to make stuff instead of being plugged into a phone or video games.
  12. I think we need a nice American steamer, an FEF-3 Northern would be just fine, in fact there is even a running example still.
  13. That's cool and you built it yourself. Debated doing something similar in my Transformers room, since I can literally go around the walls on top of the display cases. Trying to figure out an arrangement for my 4 yr olds room.
  14. Should not be getting hot. Hot makes it sound like there may be a defective piece in there somewhere, like a bad motor. The 7938 by itself does not really exhibit wheel spin. From the time of the drain, it seems something is excessively drawing current. That leaves a physical bind causing it, a shorted motor, or shorted battery box. Battery box in your hand, a 3/8 drill bit followed up with a 7/16 to clean up the contact "holes" will do wonders with about 3/4 turns of each. I have had to do this with two out of three of mine running Eneloop batteries.
  15. I got the "old" pass. set for under $100 and the cargo at $130, won't be buying these until an equivalent type sale shows up. I can wait a bit, it won't kill me. TRU jack up the price for buy one get one half off does not count.
  16. I threw $100 into the hat. Don't let me down
  17. I plan on throwing in before this is over, have to count all my nickels and dimes after the kids go to bed and see where I stand. The boy and I would make use of it for sure
  18. As a UP fan and a Fairbanks Morse fan, that thing is awesome. Nice work.
  19. So I saw the Canadian price 229.99 freight and 169.99 pass. set Is that markup, normal store price, retail????? USA TRU was how much?
  20. Picity pics lol Prices also.
  21. U might be able to run it up the walls and back down with 4 motors in there
  22. Three of us in one thread is funny, Lego train with the 4 yr old, Transformers for dad and I'm taking a temporary reprieve to put a 98 LS1 into my 91 Formula. Looking forward to a new video as he has some serious room to work with.
  23. It may have met its demise early in the show, but it had a much more glorious life than any static display. Do all this with a 4 yr old, I'll gladly take floor crashes as the only thing I have to worry about(even with him being pretty decent with them for the most part). Course we are talking Lego here, crash, smash and try again.
  24. Looking good there man. Always envied you guys/gals with ballasted track. I always shudder when I think what the cost per foot ends up being. Think she would figure out it's for me and not the boy
  25. Run what'cha brung Nothing wrong with building the HE and using for display or a "waiting" train, it is a beautiful set. 7938 or 7939 offer lots of possibilities for small spaces, especially with some switches and maybe a few small industries thrown in for good measure. Look around, this place is crazy on the amount of idea's from people all over the world, something will work for you if you look long enough.
