No, I think its a pretty epic fail when my 5 year old thinks it's stupid. The last winter train they did was nice and offered something to have something like this be called the holiday train?????????????? Nah..........

Lame....................

I hate you now more than when you built the 844. It's a very jealous, envious type of hate That again, is one damned fine locomotive sir! As a life long UP fan it's awesome to see something like that out of Lego

Train Bridge - for that canal or something...

Cool! Nice looking -
Are you talking about the round fans on top of the locomotive for the radiator and/or dynamic braking?
-
A nice Northern would be nice. Maybe the only unretired one working for its original owner in the world. Union Pacific FEF-3 844 I would buy it and a 4-8-4 wheel arrangement would make it large but not overbearing. Also 2 paint schemes to choose from.

Uhhhh, some people forget Lego is a toy, that IS ALL IT IS. You build stuff, you wreck stuff and you build something new, if you really like it, you rebuild it down the road. My older boy is 5 and I started him on Lego trains when he was 3 1/2. Yeah it can suck at times and it can be hard to deal with, but it does have its good points. As he learned to count he learned to build and follow instructions. Now I give him a Lego set and tell him to start building lol. When he was 4 he was gutting the Power Functions out of stuff and putting his own creations together with the motor, receiver and battery pack. We built our own Emerald Night out of parts on hand, snagged some knock off track, modified a few switches to correct the geometry, built a 90 deg. crossing out of flex tracks together and all kinds of other stuff. He even changes his own batteries and battery packs out along with putting them in the charger, I gave up fighting him and had to show him the correct way because as soon as I'm not there he will do it anyhow.......

Nice idea, I thought about staining some wood and making my own, but that looks good

Old post or not I can see why someone bumped it. Impressive work. One question, I'm having trouble figuring out how wide it is?

Is it sad I blow thru the non train pics to check out the train stuff? Next year I will definitely find a way to make it.

To short. Looks more like a FA then a PA due to length. Good looking locomotives for sure, just needs a little extra length in there. I get a kick out of the SF inspired D&H warbonnet paint. Awesome Alco book," Alco: A Centennial Remembrance" by Steinbrenner. Has great drawings and pictures of both steam and diesel Alcos along with great overall history of the company. It's not cheapp but easily worth the price tag.

Eneloop. I tried them because of this site and Amazon reviews. Every time I place an order now I pick some more up or stumble upon a sale for them. Never had a bad one yet and they last a lot longer than any other rechargeable battery I have used yet. Get enough to keep a set always charged for backup and get an extra battery box or two and your always ready to go.

Wasn't able to make it. Anyone have some pics and follow ups to share?

That's the part that worries me. We've built most available sets together train wise for the last 2 years plus a home brew Emerald Night and custom cars, etc. I just don't know if I can squeeze it in and am in a money squeeze on house projects, final push to finish my 91 Formula(he's my car sidekick too). Have to get my butt up and get out there, it's about a hour drive for me. Then Sunday is Botcon in St Charles................ I been running in circles for weeks now. Would love to meet a few of you guys though. I need someone to blame spending so much money on Aghhhhhhhhhh! Who schedules the times for these things?????? 4pm on a Sat and 3pm on a Sun.? It's like people who do cruise nights and start them at 5pm like people don't have jobs...... If I can get my butt up I will try and head out, hard to do when u get home at 5:30AM. (Times for the Indy show are more normal, why short Chicago hours?)
-
Hmmmm If I was stupid and cut short my sleep(night shift), would a 5 yr old boy be entertained at Brickworld for a few hours? I try taking him out to everything we can, Sat. might be doable that way
-
.............Bad weekend for me. I get off Sat morning at 5am and Botcon is in St. Charles as well. Would not mind seeing this stuff in person however.

Look up "Boeing" and "BNSF" if you think helicopters are ridiculous on a train!

My boy is 5, we have at least one of every train set available since he was 3. They get crashed on a regular basis....... Even the Emerald Night we built out of parts we have around. He takes them apart, rebuilds them into new stuff, w/ PF functions intact(been doing that since he was 4) or simply crashes them into nothingness. (Only thing Lego off limits is my Ecto-1 and I do have two HE's tucked away for myself)

Blah, give us some real trains. Still hoping for some North American steam

Krazy Glue Straighten it out and glue it in place then reinforce it with more glue from the bottom, problem solved and stronger than you started with.

Christmas before last Amazon sent me 7939 in a vacuum type bag and one whole end was almost flattened......................................... Was hoping they would send me a new one and tell me to keep it, but it was not to be lol

Only on the business train or rare excursion.

You're nuts, and I mean that in a very complimentary way!

Train storage systems? How do you store or display your spares?
v6TransAM replied to Adamskii's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You must not have kids They love trains. I got sick of buying Thomas craptastic battery powered plastic garbage(exchanged it for much more fun Lego battery powered plastic garbage lol). Got the boy a Lego passenger train for his 3rd Christmas, so he was a little older than 3 1/2. Got the cargo train for his 4th birthday. He gets to build stuff, I get to build stuff and its cool to see a 4 yr old(now 5) build something and put the PF stuff in it and make it work. Teaches them good stuff, of course he's under the car with me to while I'm working when he comes outside Its a nice setup that you have. Should find some case or make some case with removable shelves you cut "track" into so you can remove them and literally "run" the train right onto your tracks Engineer03 you have more pictures that open up large of your stuff? Looks pretty cool. -
Anyone apply this stuff to the new style Lego remote control(Power Functions) as used currently? Always look for projects I can teach my boy.
