Ahhh, I see what u mean about the tiles. Since its 5 wide on the body, your kind of stuck on running them horizontal versus vertical. It sure looks nice though.

Pretty cool, the chess board pattern messes with your eyes as it goes by I bet It is nice to see real life examples of Lego parts actually matching the prototype.

For the love of God Lego, give us something for 3 axle trucks and locomotive windshields along with side windows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We would all be better off. That thing looks awesome, nice build and definitely like your approach on the trucks. If you changed the flat tiles from horizontal to vertical on the sides where the logo is, it would look a lot more like the doors for access on the locomotive. Air tanks on top of the fuel tank would help to break up all the grey slab sides of the fuel tank. Also if your going for the Heritage II(late II, semi III) scheme, you have to use the swoosh logo

Only 3200 bricks? I'm not sure your really trying I really wish we has some type of 3 axle truck pieces, whether sideframes or pieces to make them appear at least semi realistic. I can see 4 axle truck pieces never happening. Some of the other big boys of diesel used 4 axles on two b trucks with a span bolster.

I for one will appreciate it, getting time to build it and acquire parts may be another matter. Eventually I would like to roster a Big Boy a Northern and a Challenger as well as various diesels. If you are looking for photos and drawings of all things Alco(build a C855 ), there is a book by Richard Steinbrenner called Alco: A Centennial Remembrance, entire history of Alco as well as steam and diesel drawings as well as prototype photos, awesome reference source
