  1. Dude, that's an awesome set! A must have. Did You make that island completely on Your own, or is it rebuilt from a different lego creation? I absolutely love it it, the way You managed to fill such a small build with so many attraction and play features, and it's not even a "build a new classic lego" contest ;) The greens, the waterwork, tower, animals, even the boat, where i'm typically not a fan of plastic sails, but here they just work and look nice. Even those blue ( turquise? ) elements on the tower look somewhat needed on those red walls. I'm not into those newer coins tho, damn bank and economists! They always try to take the good old shiny things from us and replace it with matt and unattractive forms of payment! And i see "who's done it"! Ironhook is the murderd, as he left his hook! Now... what did i win? ;) Bur importantly, why on earth would he live his hook in King Tatanahukapatakanahuhikatukatata's body in the first place? Was he in such a hurry to flee from the island that he wouldnt need that? Does he need it on dailu basis? Does he always carry a spare hook with him? Or maybe that's his personal sign as he always leaves a hook with his killed enemies to warn any other that would dare stand on his path? But honestly, i think You are all wrong, and he wasn't killed by Ironhook, Ironhook is a beloved toy character, he wouldnt do such a thing. He's a good guy. So he was obviously framed. Islanders King must have died in a result of a failed navel piercing attempt, and that hook You're shamely pointing too was just his bracelet, one he could have gotten from any eaten individuals. Still, i can't wait for next installment of this adventure! And ( hopefully ) for tips and instrustructions of how You created both the boat and the island as surely many of us would like to have a chance of constructing these builds too :)
  2. Gotcha! See? I knew it. And how did i knew it? Only a real protoSteve could have known what HeadSteve was wearing. It's in our ( corrupted by wealth ) blood ;)
  3. Oh, so can i join to too, IF i will rename myself to Steve? Actually Mazin is an ancient protoindoeuropean form of Steve, the protoSteve, one that gave birth to all them newer versions ;) But, since You've explained where all the loot... pardon... all the earnings are, maybe that's a base for another story? One that could show Steve's and Steves' secret saving account, so that we could se how much wealth did he managed to aquire during all those Lego years, that made him the most famous merchant in pirate world ;) About that torso... hm... someting non-pirate at all i guess? Since You manage to hide it from our eyes, maybe You didn't want to show it as it was out of place ;) A racetrack driver or Schell/petrol worker comes to my mind, as i had them and they kinda look like that, with all white but stripe going trugh the middle of their torso ;)
  4. It's so awesome Steve's photos from this era of humble beginnings were saved despite all the turmoil that he went trough, and that we all can still enjoy them! Now i have to wonder tho, what happened to that ship? Is it still around and sailing? Did Steve inherit that vessel as his first command? Or is is still steered by his father, or mom, or monkey, or all? But where's the rest of the family? Like Stephen Jr. Jr. and Step-Annie? Where's uncle Istvan and auntie Stenia? Anyway, hope Steve's family had it easier in their life and always sailed trough pleasant seas, unlike Steve's, but Steve is a hero of this stories, so he knew what he was signiip up for. but wait! i managed to spot Redbeard's parrot there. She's obviously spying for Pirates. Those cunning seadogs will be trying to stop Steve's family to deliver those supplies to Soldiers, no doubt about it. Still, Steve's parents got one hell of a ships there, i have no reasons to believe it won't outruns those water bandits. Im not sure about that figurehead tho, does it have a face? can we take a closer look? Is it carved to look like Steve and his relatives?
  5. Brilliant remake of Michael Keaton's Multiplicity ;) ... or the infmous SW Clone Saga ;) Seriously, i've just read and commented on a story we Steve got many clones and now i'm seeing double, or double the double, quadruple clones of the pirate captain. What next? Cloning Governor Broadside? Whatever amount of clone stories we will get, both are brilliant. And i love Your approach as well, especially that telling the tale trough the letter is new and damn original as well! Obviously entirely fictional as or sailor's stories are 200% untrue and a create with a purpose of getting few free drinks, but still, a world would be such a interesting place without them ;) So now we now why Steve is loosing parts of his body in some sets and regains them in other! Thanx for explaining this to us. As a creature out of this world, artificialy formed being he clearly is capable of grow his limbs again. So im quite surprised he didnt just cut his leg to properly diguise himself as the captain. However i do hope that the real captain will return and they will all clash in the great clone battle... cause the world is too small for all of them at once. Anyway. Awesome build. I like the addition of those stares, gives the whole setting a great classic secret laboratory-in-the-basement kinda a feel. Even that bottle with green ooze that is about to fall is great idea. Exactly the kind of detail i'd like to see here. And the "cloning machine" is smrtly simply, not overthought, but just like something that's both credible, fun and creepy at the same time. The only part about Your post i dislike is that after reading it i will have to abandon my plans to clone myself :( I mean, i'm not gonna risk making copies of myself if one of them might kill me, that would be stupid, wouldnt it? Lesson learned.
  6. I'm kinda jelous of this about-to-be-marroned pirate, cause Steve prepared a nice living quaters for him! Such a lovely place, love the sail, and greenery, lots of sun and majestic views but with a lot of shadow if needed, and ethnic tough here and there. I mean, who wouldnt want to spend time in there? The pants part cracked me up! :D Tho You didn't mention how did he lose them. I mean, he did retain some of his belongings, there even a chest in the back, so it's not that he lost absolutely all he had. So why pants? Or were the pants a reason of why he lost his ship? Perhaps those were the famously infamous golden pants of Sharamabimbramabambrala? Cursed pants that bring tragedy to all those who'll find them and wear them? Yeah, i guess that solve's it. And loved the name of the company. I think i'll use the trick too! We all should. Hey, why not rename Eurobricks to Eurobricks'n'Sons, he? They would visit the place more often, wouldnt they? ;) BTW, i looked at photos first and i was wondering why the hell is that guy in the back of the boat holding a sticki like that, i thought that maybe he was steering this way, but then read You story and find out he was kinda handcuffed. Cool way to do that. But the island itself is the coolest part. Very nicely done again. I'd totaly love that as a set, with the boat or not, just the way You did those plants, tribal spear as a flag pole and the way You used that sail is briliant! Should You improve it in any way? Not sure if needs anything at all honestly. If anyone would complain, it might be colors. It's very earthy. The island and the boat, crew. I don't have a problem with that, but perhaps changing seats in the boat, from gret to red or pink should bring more vacation vibes. A parrot or a crab as a companion for Steve wouldnt be a bad choice too. Oh, and change the sign on the sail from Lego to Lego'n'Sons... people like that in the name ;)
  7. Lovely interior! Aboslutely love those walls. And the idea about Steve having many clones is very original and intruguing. However, i see one weakness here. There's just not enough of Steves! Only 3 of them in the picture? I thought that Steve's clones numbers are limitless... and rising! ;) And, hey, the one Steve that throw the bottle is clealy not a Steve either! Real Steve wouldn't never ever throw a bottle at anyone! He's a merchant for God's sake! A bottle means profit, a bottle thrown away or disposed of ( empty or not ) means financial losses! How would Steve ever do that? Think about it. Naaah, it couldn't have been him. And if it wasn't him, it's clear it was an impostor as well! It was a real Roger, in disguise, who only posed as Steve and somehow managed to suit real Steve as a himself, and then kick him out. And look at the parrot. That's clearly captain Rogers parrot! You think it would just sit in there while he would be kicked out? Nah, that one loyal, higly trained bird, that would rush to help him, and flee without him. So why is is sitting in there like if nothing happened to captain Roger? Because she knows nothing happened to Roger! As Roger is the one kicking real Steve out! The only question is how and why would be do that? What's his plan? Well... we must investigate more! Sure hope Steve and all other Steve will turn this around into their favor... and profit ;) Anyway... nice diorama. Loved the bottle trick, at least on the first picture where the light is smartly enshadowed where it should be. It only takes a while to realize it's stuck into the wall. So good job. My only suggestion is that since Steve's mob is so powerful... shouldn't they have a more tastefull hq? I would like to see more riches lying basically everywhere, on the wall, by the wall, next to the wall, on the floor... etc etc. I mean, yeah there are few pennies on the table, but let's be honest, who would wanna join Steve's group for such peanuts? ;)
  8. This is hillarious! Great story, top notch dialogue, had lots of fun reading it, thanx! :) But hay, looking at Steve, pardon, Stiamh, isn't it clear that it's actually a dream! I mean, doesn't anyone recognize that he's a skeleton becuse of his west? It's just a nighmare where Steve is selfdecomposing because of his inner fears of luck of profit, and the Customs Official persofies his darkest thoughts, about being unable to make business. It's simply he's own version of Kafka's Trial and Monty Pyton's silly questions. I mean, look at that Custom Official! You wouldn't see someone dressed like this in real life carribean, would ya? He's a devil in disguise, yeap. Like, where would he get his coffe from? He? On such a small island. There's clearly no place for a kettle. He must be only pretending to be drinking it, or he must be powerful enough to magic it up! But anyway... great presentation. Thanx for showign Steve's origins for us, always knew it started something like this, but now we have the proof. Lovely colors, not over built, mix of sizes, small island with big official's desk and even bigger jetty turn this moc into an outstanding critism of beurocracy's exagerated size and it's own wealth that hould be put into questioning ;) ... and to be honest i would totally love to have this job! Nice location, weather, rich wildlife, office with a view, no need to be proficient in spelling, not a lot of work obviously, as i highly doubt anyone but Steve would come there to make a trade...
  9. Hm... now that's a treasure map with a twist! Usually it's pirate captains who look of them to seek a treasure, or if they already have the map, use them to find the treaure. But here the map leads to a pirate captain... he's the treasure! :) Damn, they had it all wrong all this time in so many stories! Who couldn have known! But anyway, awesome creation, sunset is realy original, especialy with those birds being part of it. Wow. And the little ship in the distance, what a way to incorprate it into the picture! The little ship could be its own mini set in my opinion, You make it looks so easy, so maybe an entire Lego Pirate fleet could be reproduced this way. For those that are into minisets it would be a must! And there's even a shark. If i could suggest something, maybe his fin could swim away from them? Right now he's kind charging into the island, but perhaps it would look better if he would be kinda swimming out of the picture, that is away from the wall and straight at us, viewers :) Im not sure about those tiny white elements too, i think that they are too illustrate waves hitting on the beach? I'm not sure if these are necessary. And for some purists they might be problematic. I would suggest taking those pieces away and reinvest those into something else that could enrich the story. Maybe a pirate flat on the palm tree? Maybe captain's parrot could be rejoined with him, as he never ever left wihout it? Maybe the parrot would be even the reason for Steve's visit, as he would be Captain's official bird supplier, delivering a pet he ordered trough Amabricks or SeaBay ;) And this way we would have the origins of more characters in one picture ;) Obviously there's not much space for any ad ons ;)
  10. Nicely done! I'm not a fun or miniature sets, but can't deny the skill, especially for such a young person. Guns are probably my favorite pieces. And those those tiny soldiers look amazing... tho, i wouldn't include them within that set. They loook nice as sepearate bricks, but as a miniature set it looked better without them. "Less is more", if you know what i mean. However they are a nice addition, an option someone could are or leave them out. Still, i don't see any story in here. It only waits to be told ;) Or maybe there's a lot of action, comedy and drama already happening, but we can't tell because of it's small scale? But it is a nice setting. And most importantly, it's a lovely homage to the original tho, and it would be a nice additions to many collector's showing rooms, especially if it would stand next to it's bigger brother or an art from the original box.
  11. These are alll false accusations, fabricated lies, lies lies! Steve wouldn't do all that, and he wouldn't let himself be put in such situation. What you see here is clearly not an imprisoment situation, but just the way Steve likes to relax, find peace from all that world and it's problems, people obsessed with money (where Steve obviously don't belong!). You realy believe they would provide a free pet rat for him as a companion if he was a criminal? No, obviously not. An a prison wouldn't have such a nice decor in it's window, allowing so much sun, no, if You would spend any time behind bars, you would now it would be ugly, darkish and wet place. But anyway, brilliant composition and great photography! The way You play with colors, wow. And a seagull behind that window is a great touch and a smart way to incorparate maritime element into the picture! Even Steve's torso is somewhat different here, and on point. He screams to me that he's not an ordinary seaman, but a real hero, who is just about to be kidnapped by his fate into some new exciting adventure. Is there anything that could be added in here? Can't look for a reason to change single brick. It's actually so chilling, even tho it's a damn prison. Well maybe there could be a dog with keys in his mouth to bring more pirate friendly easter eggs into the shot? Or maybe he could even take the place of that seagull, to bring more fun and action into that scene. But honestly, i wouldn't change a thing ;)
  12. Lovely little build! Both characters are on point, eveything piece seem to play a role in this small story, no unnecessary elements in sight - a map on the wall is a rather smart and simple way to remind us that it takes place in the Carribean, without it it could be just darkish tavern anywhere in the ( tfu tfu ) land. By the size of the pouch on the floor i i can say that's one hell expensive lobster! Or maybe Steve payed a visit to his culinary friend, to pay him his share of the loot... pardon! earning from his totally legal and honest business? Then again look, there's even a bucket incase lobster wouldn't taste that well and Steve would have to vomit... so perhaps Steve isn't realy paying a visit but is forced to take part in this cruel dinner in order to seal some new lucrative trading deal? Anyway... i don't see anything worth adding here. But should You be willing to make a sequel to it, or rebuild it using real parts then perhaps You could find a way to to put a window in there? With a bit of a palm tree visible from inside, which would bring more tropical vibe to it. Or perhaps there could be even bars instead of a simple window, thus Steve would be sitting in a prison instead of a restaurant, and the lobster would be a clear sign that even in jail he's treated with great respect... or that he can afford best cousine any time and wnywhere ;)
  13. good find! now only to find proper pants to go with it ;)
  14. Need to dig into this @Mister Phes, if i may... Not sure about that strict time-frame, as Steve uses 18 century and late 18/ early19 century hats even in Your welcome post And Soldiers in Lego Pirate world use napoleonic shakos and uniforms. But i guess we all know that, and maybe a gremlin typed wrong era into the first sentence? So if we could maybe clear it up, to avoid confusion. I mean Lego Pirates is clearly set somewhere in the fairytailish version of pirates Golden Age, with elements from other eras used as well, and i guess it wont be a problem for Builders to stick with those centuries and no one will introduce American Revolution or any later napoleonic/victiorian/belle epoque/wild west elements... still, wanted to be sure if we can actually use those classic 18/19 century elements, even if they are in the wrong time period Cause maybe they are banned for the duration of Steve's Contest and we may use only proper 16-17 century elements
  15. Count me in. That is if i'm not automatically disqualified for winning the previous edition ;) Not sure if I'll be able to participate as efficiently as the last time - can't believe it's been one year already! - but it was fun, interaction with those proposed sets and Builders, observing how those creation were changed, and sometimes had things here and there changed due to my suggestions, was some of the best time of the last year for me, and i always like this kind of challenge. Anyway, wonder what kind of entries participants with bring into the Eurobricks this year and will surely follow to see what they've got. Maybe i'll build something myself this time as well, if i'll have a chance to excavate my Legos from the attic :) At start of First to 25 Challenges:
  16. Wow, so many nice entries. Anchor Cove is my favourite one, not a fun of those polished walways tho, but still it seems most original idea with so many features i'd be interested in, and generally it's the most playable pirate-friendly set of all ;)
  17. Wow, that's quite a lot of money. Curious, the product they will release won't be exactly the same as it looks now, right? Are they going to alter it a bit, to look more Lego-legit, like they did with Baracuda Bay? Or is it a final product?
  18. If You're looking for a title for this Contest i propose "Steve's Guide to Pirates Multimonkeyverse" to keep all the ingredients ;) Or "Legos of the Carribean: on Stranger Vibes" ;) As for Your Poll, I opted for Popculture, even tho i'm more into expanding Lego Pirates universe into more extotic, distant eras and areas ;) However, there are reasons why i opted in a more "conservative" way. Firstly, during the last contest whenever we talked about more exotic vibes, polar pirates, asian pirates, barbary pirates... etc, i felt that there was a strong "no" by many partcipants, as they prefered more classic approach, with all-time-famous carribean branch running the whole pirate business ;) My second reason is that keeping it with general popculture may be easier for builders and observers, as many folks here may not be that familiar with neither non-carribean sea dogs nor Monkey Islandv & Steve, and perhaps even more importantly, many may not have pieces needed to build attractions, scenes, characters connected with those more exotic cultures... It just might be too dificult to obtain proper headwear, weapons, or sails for say, an Indian Ocean cutthroat, or some straits of Malacca sea robber... So I think it will be simply easier to go with any pirate oriented popculture and more people will be able to find something to dig in, to participate in one way or another. Also, i have always felt that Lego Pirates was largely build on classic pirate flicks, so maybe now it's time for us to give back to that world... mimicking scenes and characters from our favourite titles, while creating something new and worth adding to the Lego Pirateverse, all while hiding Monkey Island references and Steve's cameos, plus introducing "distant" vibes here and there if anyone will have such desire, bricks and talent ;)
  19. At first i thought this was the same guy on the left, all grown up, then read Your description :) As for pics, i had a few, not sure if they were joyfull enough, but will try to dig them up from my excavation site in the attic ;)
  20. Classic - Printed Baseplate !!! There's just something magical in that design - without using any bricks or effort you already get an important peace of the play and the whole pirate universe, you automatically feel like you're on a beach, in a warm tropical setting ready for an adventure on an intriguing island... and there's no need to build anything to be honest, as during childhood years we often used it just like it was. Compare it with every other type - in all of them you still need to construct the whole damn thing out of sand and form it into an insular shape and to be honest, none of them look as attractive as the printed baseplate ;)
  21. I actually like this one quite a lot, while i typically dislike modern town lego sets, this one is something i'd realy like to grab, as it's got this good old lego feeling, pure fun, with cool packaging and lots of playing possibilities, bricks usable in pirates world as well, nothing that would seem too modern... tho maybe one problematic thing is that pirate-park uniform, as it's not very likely someone would wear it outside of the park. I mean, usually with most of lego clothing we can do plenty of stuff, but operatore of a theme park, well, i don't know, it's not somethig a civilian or housewife would wear so it can only go with pirate-themed business - piragelato, pirazerria, nesspirates, pirate burgers etc ;) And i wonder about those walls with stickers, are usebale as proper pirate/soldier structures, or are these supposed to look like something from kids friendly area? ;) i guess it's up to the builder/owner anyway! ;)
  22. I'm surprised that so many people are pointing into Governor's office or obvious leaks in Eldorado's defences, but is it just Lego, a toy, not a superrealistic model of a fortress to be that detailed. So if i would look for problems i'd look for it somewhere else. I can name two so right away 1 - is that the head of my Governor is somewhat missprinted which never happened in my Legos before! But, i guess i can live with that ;) ( Did anyone else find this kind of defect in their sets recently? This particular one or any others.... ) 2 - someone who greenlighted those booklets with instructions should be kicked out for not thinking to put numbers on them, cause honestly, i freaked a bit when i saw them, but i manage to learn how to read them quick anyway ;) Still, this problem shouldn't even exist. To me that's a major flaw, and i saw some people online pointing out to that as well. So i'm rather suprised fellow Eurobrick members didn't note that ;) But booklets are not realy part of the toy... so when it comes to judging the toy itself... I don't know what to think honestly, i was very fortunate to be able to win this set, so i didn't have to buy it on my own, and after building it i don't know if i would try to get an another one. For parts maybe, sure, getting new bricks and in large quantities is always great, and it sometimes makes me even more happy then constructing the actual set. New muskets, new cannons, new animals, new faces... and there's plenty of them here. So that's already a plus. But the biggest problem to me is that building this whole thing... didn't feel like playing with Lego. Or maybe i'm just to much of a kid to fully understand what's 18+ category was all about, to be able to enjoy it as others would. Let me put it this way, if i could compare it to last two big sets that i bought for myself - i mean LOTR with Cave Troll scene, and Turtles Lair. And boy, as much as i'm not a fan of licences sets, those felt great! I absolutely loved building them, putting all the stickers, arraning all the parts on my shelf, and after toring them down i was always happy to build them again... and i can't wait to do it again. Building part was the kind of Lego experience i didn't even expect... after a long hiatus from the franchise in my life. The thing with Eldorado, was that, aside from constructing the ship, it didn't feel much like building Lego. Sure, it's better to be fortunate enough to construct such set and to put it on the shelf, but before i finished it up i honestly felt like a regular construction worker at times ;) I mean, some bit were fine, creating all those trap doors, ladders, even the crane, tap room, etc, those were legit Lego elements i was looking for. But building up that baseplate and fortifications... it was a nightmare at times! :P I mean, i understand that Lego changed and it's more detailed, but does it realy nececary to use dozens and dozens bricks just to construct a tower or walls? I mean, does every surface needs to be polished? And one this about the baseplate... i was constantly surprised that after building some very detailed segments the next step was to almost completely cover them by adding new segments! And i can't understand the point of doing that... Like, who's gonna enjoy all those detailed little tunnels that even a minifig want be able to explore? Minilego bats? Spiders? Maybe i didn't get something, but this part i didn't understand. Sure, using tons of elements to build those fortifications, towers and general baseplate did come with an amazing effect, it looks great in the end. It sure enjoyable as hell to be able to have such a view in ones room and i would have lots of fun with it if i was still a kid and i would actually use it as a playground ... But all those tunnels within the baseplate were kinda pointless to me. Then, most importantly, i'm not sure if i would like to building it again. It's honestly, like building a house, once you are finished with all the work you don't want to tore it down and start again ;) But again, maybe that's because i was targeting into something more kid-friendly, like the original, and i'm not a fan of more complicated adult-model-makers oriented approach. To me the coolest thing is that i did manage to get Eldorado after all those years, and that i now own so many elements i never had before and i could do so many things with them... tho i will seek to get the original version anyway as well. The thing is, i got some other toys from other classical franchises this year - He-Man, Skeletor and their battle mounts, and even tho those weren't 100% the same as 80s originals, they absolutely feel that way, and i was shocked i was actually able to buy them and they were the highlight of that year for me. It's like completing a lifelong goal to finally be able play with them. And Eldorado remake unfortunately doesn't have the same spark. Feeling were different. It looks great on a box, it looks great after being build, i like the addition of the ship, i don't think that it's crucial for it to be completely the same as the original, and i don't mind female heads that much... but it just doesn't feel the same... becaue it doesn't feel as the toy.... it doesn't give the building experience i would expect... So i would prefer it to be less complicated and more kid oriented next time, if they will try to reproduce it again :) BTW, now that they used that merchant vessel here and they probably won't reuse it in Imperial Trading Outpost, should they remake it too, i do hope they wil fill that gap with some other classic miniset from the franchise, like a pirate raft or islanders's cataman perhaps :) Actually mixing those elements between sets, "stealing" them from one to add to another one again and again, like they did between Eldorado and Trading Outpost, would be an interesting marketing idea :)
  23. One can never know, with all the crap going on in so many other franchises.... They even abolished monarchy in He-Man recently!... so let's hope they won't touch at least some things. Plus Lego is a family company so they MIGHT not be affected by controversial fasgions and strategies as much as other, just might. Then again, it's a private company and they can do whatever they want.
  24. Wow! This is great! Your project looks even more awesome than the Fortress itself, seems much more playable now with open spaces, when compared to Eldorado's boxiness ;) That brown warf and water and all the details look fantastic. And i absolutely love the staircase with flowers :) Could You say what parts did You use or even make a tutorial? Did You combine it with any other specific set or did You just experiment with random bricks? If i could i'd buy me a second set of 10320 just so that i could build Your own design :)
  25. Yellow or death! I do have couple of sets with fleshies and don't mind them, but generaly i wouldn't never greenlight this idea, as it's clearly creating division within the Lego toyetic universe and often plays against basic Lego rules of elements from different themes fitting to each other for playability values - as some torsos/body parts from fleshies can't be realy used with parts from yellow figs and vice versa... Plus, it's Lego damn it. It can and should be simple in design, it doesn;t need to resemble characters that are being adapted that much, nothing wrong would happen to those intelectual properties if they would use yellow faces ( unless licence holders ordered them to do so? ) and most importantly, YELLOW FACES ARE LEGO :) So introducing different skin universe does indeed feel a bit like heresy ;) Still, if Lone Ranger or Lotr/Hobbit and POTC would come back and i would have money i would buy whole lots of them, whether they would be fleshies or not, cause after all this is only a toy and a good toy, and kids and grownup kids will always find the way to play with them ;)
