  1. I remember reading somewhere that it's preferable for TLG to have a licensed sticker sheet rather than a licensed part.
  2. The 42065 has no gears whatsoever, yet I think it was fun to play with (and, to a limited extent, MOC with).
  3. Another advantage of both motors of the same type is that they can be used symmetrically in a MOC, such as a skid-steer vehicle.
  4. For many years, B-models expected you to remove the A-model's stickers. Thankfully this has been abandoned in modern times; most likely the pullbacks' B-models will be made-up monster trucks with the A-models' identifying stickers hidden.
  5. It's a 2021 set, so getting it any earlier than that is a bonus.
  6. I don't think kids will be bothered by such trivialities.
  7. Well, he did work on the 42070. Nobody is perfect. https://brickset.com/article/54795/technic-mclaren-senna-gtr-revealed!
  8. Could the wheels be connected to the differential via gears instead of directly? Yes that's odd, but also allows for having both differential and axle with stop.
  9. Yes, not all surprises are good surprises.
  10. Either that, or there's a single hub for the lights only. Now there's overkill! Or... and I'm putting on my tinfoil hat for this, there could be a hub in the horizon, that allows the user to connect multiple sensors in the same port on the Prime?
  11. I once cut an extension cable, to power a wireless camera from PF. It still hurts to think about it. ? Now, when I need stuff cut up, I prefer getting it from China. I can't bring myself to ruin genuine LEGO.
  12. My hunch is that TLG thought that MINDSTORMS, with the evolution RCX > NXT > EV3, was starting to become too powerful and complex for kids to dip their toes in robotics, so they decided to launch this easier-to-use system. The discontinuation of the 31313 doesn't necessarily mean the end of the EV3 ecosystem: just like the RCX and the NXT got "refresh" sets, it's possible that a new EV3-based set is in the works.
  13. Running standalone is a feature exclusive to SPIKE (both yellow and teal) when using official firmware, or the other hubs when using pyBricks. Due to not having changeable firmware, WeDo 2.0 (and the Duplo train too, I guess) definitely can't run standalone.
  14. It doesn't need to be licensed to have an interesting design and functionality. In fact, licensing can restrict the designer's creativity, not to mention the whole Osprey controversy...
  15. It should work with the stuff in this video:
  16. Probably for cost? This is the first MINDSTORMS set to already come with 4 motors. Many of the uses of a touch sensor are now unnecessary: there's no need for motor calibration due to the motors' absolute positioning, and collisions can be detected by the onboard accelerometer. It's already available in the 42114.
  17. Unless they're not discontinuing the EV3 system as a whole, but only the specific 31313 set... the RCX and the NXT received "updated" sets, but the EV3 never got such an honour.
  18. With the massification of the SPIKE hub through the 51515, I believe it's only a matter of time before fans start making their own firmwares and IDEs that support it. (I would still like full EV3 support on Bricx Command Center, though)
  19. The EV3 also uses different firmware for home and education editions, so I'm not surprised that so does SPIKE. So, unlike the angular motors, where the grey and azure versions have different HW IDs, it would appear that the teal and yellow SPIKEs really only differ in colour.
  20. It's not necessarily less powerful. It's better in some aspects and worse in others.
