  1. That's a nice AT-ST, and not too Christmassey - in fact, if you build 10 more you could have a soccer team I downloaded one of your pics & made it grey just to get a rough idea of how it would look .My favourite details are the hydraulics(?) at the rear of the mid-leg. Well done.
  2. Love it - brilliant! - I want to see bigger pics... how do I get on to your Flikr - arrghhhhhh.
  3. Well I've not read or watched any Harry Potter but at the moment I'd be more tempted to buy a HP set than what we've seen here so far.
  4. I've never seen this before - hopefully it's ray shielded. These are my favourite types of SW MOC's - little add on craft or scenery that compliment official sets and expand our own little brick universe. I agree with KDM that the grille pieces at the rear sides should fit horizontal like your reference image and also as Brickdoctor says the pilot could be a tad lower.
  5. No, the parts I need aren't available in sand red. I was hoping for more parts in medium dark flesh because I think it's just as good as sand red - I'd say the actual speeder is a dirty light orange. I used the dark tan because I felt it complimented medium dark flesh well in the POP sets. At the time of ordering parts I could only get the arches at the back in black, white and medium dark flesh but now I can get them in tan - so I could now go down the route TLG chose and do the whole speeder in dark red and tan. It's a dilemma. Thanks guys.
  6. Errr, maybe they should use reddish brown, what with him being black and all. Just google Hugh Quarshie and look at the images, he's clearly black. In fact I'm finding it hard to believe my eyes when I look at the box art - is it not just the poor photo quality that's making him look the wrong colour? Or maybe TLG have lightened the image on the box to make his face more noticeable.
  7. Thanks to everyone for the nice comments - but not you Nightshroud99 . I've cherry picked a few to reply to; Thanks Rufus - It's actually VERY sturdy. Originally the rear tail fin had a very flimsy connection but now it's all held together by a pretty strong frame underneath, and the plates at the side. The weakest part is the floor of the cockpit if you give it a good push it will fall out, but it's strong enough to push a minifig onto without any trouble. Oh, and Brickdoctor's right about the 2 x 2 tiles with one stud in the centre. Thanks prateek, I had no idea anyone was following my obsessive updates Cheers, I'm glad you like it so much - but you could have one too - just download the lxf and order the parts. Then make it better, post it here and I will copy your improvements. It's definitely not too small but I think I understand your 'SNOTy' comment. Personally I only count the rear as 'proper' SNOT work but I suppose strictly speaking the nose & sides are SNOT too. But I guess you mean the combined smooth finish of SNOT & tiles. When on display it doesn't look much like Lego and I do generally prefer more 'studs up'. With this in mind I tried using plates rather than tiles on the bonnet but it just interfered with the greebles in front of the windscreen and didn't match the rear. 7110 was my first lego Star Wars set - a friend bought it for me as a Joke - of course I loved it but it wasn't enough to drag me out of my dark-age (I'm sorry to say fallenangel, it was 6212 that did that (and I still haven't forgiven you for making me hate it )). I agree, mine is too large - my aim was to get something closer in size to 7110 (which I think is about the right scale) but with more detail. It's smaller than 4501 & 8092 so I'm part way there. Also I've done a comparison with the schematics on Wookipedia and you're also right about the engines. I'm now wondering if I can pull the 'wings' in a stud each. If I lose the tan, what would I replace it with?
  8. Updated Design September 2016: lxf file available from brickshelf.com Lego Luke's Landspeeder on flickr Original Post February 2011: I've been tinkering with this for over a year now, mostly in LDD, but partially in bricks too. I'm quite pleased with bits of it but other bits, not so much. I put the stickers on the front today and they're a massive disappointment, it looked better without them. I'm tempted to get some stuff to do decals and give that a go, but I'm also tempted to scrap the front end and try again. Then there's the colour, I had hoped TLG would bring out more pieces (tiles) in medium dark flesh but now I doubt they will. And the brick arch that forms the 'wings' at the back has now been released in tan - should I re-colour all the medium dark flesh & dark tan bits? I'm sort of against that, because if I ever do a Tatooine diorama the speeder will look camouflaged and I've spent WAY too much on this already. I just don't know what to do. If anyone would care for the instructions the lxf file can be found in KDM's excellent Eurobricks MOC LXF Index topic. More pics here when public.
  9. You truly have earned your title as 'Mini Master'. I particularly like the A-Wing and I'm sure the 1st one is really good too I'm just not familiar with it. I actually bought this set because I thought there were probably some useful Star Wars-ey parts in it. Until now it's just been sat in a box... I'm interested to know how you come up with these ideas. With something like this, do you look at the parts and think "well, I could build 'x' and 'x' with this". Or, is it down to lots of trial and error and experimentation?
  10. ANH was on TV in the UK today, and of course, I just had to watch it. Except this time I paid special attention to Luke's hair. I think you could equally get away with using the new hair or surf dude hair for Luke, his parting seems to move from side to centre depending on the direction of the Tatooine wind. Sorry to say I forgot to notice his hair on the Falcon, I was too engrossed in the movie by then. But what I had forgotten is how un-blonde Luke actually is, he's more of a dirty blonde (usually my favourite), and a very dirty blonde at that - I think TLG should have gone back to using tan for his hair or EVEN dark tan. Can't wait to get hold of the new Ewoks and when ROTJ is on TV in 2 weeks I'll be checking if any green hooded, black Ewoks happen to have grey hands. I'm now looking forward to seeing Leia's new face.
  11. I actually don't know where it could lead? I just don't think I understand.
  12. Great job with the pics there NTF. I'm loving Luke's new hair but young Anakin looks like he's eaten too many pies. I think it's the way his belt curves. EDIT: He does look cross-eyed & Qui Gon looks like Billy Ray Cyrus.
  13. Sets based on Greek mythology would be cool but why bother licensing it as Clash/Wrath of the Titans? Agreed.
  14. I'm currently updating my Speeder Bike and am contemplating doing something similar to the image below for the pedals. I was thinking of cutting a lightsaber bar for the illegal connection but a piece of the tubing you have used on the handle bars should also do the trick.
  15. Sweet. And I must agree with KDM on the excellent presentation.
  16. That's one chubby little chibi. I like how fat the engines are and good work fitting R2
  17. Brilliant! It actually made me laugh - that's good right?
