I kind-of started this topic in a haze of excitement then with the Christmas break forgot all about it . Nice to see that there's been a little (heated) debate on the subject . I've bumped this now to bring news of a new viral marketing video featuring Guy Pearce as Peter Wayland giving some sort of corporate speech. Not much given away here. BUT, there's some possibility that the inclusion of the Peter Wayland character could ignore the AVP timeline completely. No bad thing imo. Older news includes some images of the Space Jockeys (or are they just Space Suits? ). I suppose surprised was a bit of a stupid word for me to use in relation to Prometheus but given that there's clearly a lot of members who are passionate about the Alien/AVP universe (what with the many wonderful Alien MOCs & custom figures that can be found here on EB) I am a bit surprised that there's no topic relating to the Alien franchise in general.

Imo the changes you have made either due to lack of colour availability or to improve the strength of the model have not had any major negative effects on the aesthetic of the ship. One minor nit-pick from me would be that where you have used four 1 x 2 cheese slopes on the side you have lost the nice smooth transition of this to this. I appreciate that the white 2 x 4 double slope appears to be rare but I can't help but wonder how it would look in red or even if you used two of these? A minor gripe, and it's nice to see Hollander's design in real bricks - to you both.

[MOC] Battle Droids and STAP (Moodland Scale)
Praiter Yed replied to M<0><0<DSWIM's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The Battle Droid is just ace and the STAP has lots nice detail - the guns look cool, I like the way you integrated the engines and the pedals on the wings are nice too. -
What was the last movie you watched?
Praiter Yed replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Just watched Dirty Harry on TV, It's years since I've watched this film, what a classic! And now Magnum Force is just starting -
An interesting idea for a project Legostein. I like the stripped-down 'classic Lego' style of the vignette but most of all I absolutely love your Greedo .

Yep, it's a crazy offer, they had the Geonosian Cannon for the same price which was tempting, but in the end the lure of more Sandtroopers made me get two Droid Escapes. Thought I'd have to wait 'til next year for an offer anywhere near this price (they usually end up reduced to £12.50).

A lovely little vignette konze, nice and simply styled with a lovely base

Picked up 2 Droid Escapes for only £8.50 each plus the Death Star Planet Set & Tatooine Planet Set for £6.30 each - all from my local Asda (sorry Mr. Man ).

Best way to print white decals.
Praiter Yed replied to gotoAndLego's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I think there are some commercial printers who offer a service of printing and/or engraving Lego - this would probably give the best results but could be expensive. Another option would be to use white decal paper and print the full blue torso with the white logo reversed out. Your problem here would be getting a good colour match for your torso, using the Lego Colour Palette will get you close but you may need to do some experimenting with your colour / print settings to get it right. Some well placed 'creases' near the edge of your decal designs can help disguise a colour match that is not quite right For a job like this my preference would be to use white dry-rub decal paper because imho it provides a more solid white base than waterside decals which tend to allow the torso colour to show through more. -
I think a bit too far for you to drive Charlieboy, my local Asda is in a small town called Golborne, between Wigan & Leigh (Lancashire). Up until quite recently it's been like you said previously, none of the good offers other members have mentioned going on. I almost bought Droid Escape a couple of weeks ago because it was reduced to £17 but decided I'd leave it a year or so until they go on a decent offer . Don't know why they're so cheap now, maybe they just want to shift the stock?

Good ol Asda! As well as still having the new SW Battle Packs for £5.99 my local is now selling all the Series 1 planet sets for £6.30 each plus Droid Escape and Geonosian Cannon for £8.50!

What was the last movie you watched?
Praiter Yed replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Did you watch the short scene after the end titles start? Plus the end titles themselves are brilliant and continue to show what is happening after the story. Took my daughter to see The Phantom Menace 3D yesterday - she asked to see it because it's the only Star Wars film she likes . I can't say the 3D had any major effect on the film, I thought the pod-race would be impressive, but it wasn't, and some bits looked a bit odd. Proof that 'you can't polish a turd' but my daughter enjoyed it and that's what matters. BTW I never noticed how short Darth Maul is before -
What was the last movie you watched?
Praiter Yed replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
It's been filmed at least twice - there's a black & white version and a colour version. I haven't seen the old b&w one but in the colour version John Malkovich is amazing - the man is like some kind of shape-shifter, he changes form for whatever role he's in. Also possibly the only good book I was made to read at school - heart wrenching stuff . -
Sainsbury's near where I work (Warrington) had 25% off quite a few small sets including; POTC 4191 Captains Cabin for (I think) £7.67 Cars 9497 Ivan Mater - around £3.75 There were others that I can't remember - 25% off a small set is not really a great saving but most notable was 50% off POTC 4181 Isla de la Muerta - about a tenner

I really like this Lobot. You've managed to pull off the cluttered, junk yard feel without making the whole scene just look a mess of Lego and imho that's not easy to do. I admire your refusal to own a Binks minifig

A nice clean vignette and as others have said the window looks really good . I also like the use of printed tiles for wall art (surely they must have had some pictures on the walls at Theed?), I think these are quite fun and I have a bit of an obsession with printed parts. Seems to me that the guy on the floor just has a headache, you can tell by the position of his hand - somebody get him an aspirin dammit!

At first I thought Dud Bolt must be a character you made up until I goggled him - it seems pretty hard to find good reference for the more obscure pod-racers. I think you did a great job in LDD so far and will be interested to see how you tweak this. Just out of curiosity, seeing as Dud Bolts pod-racer was destroyed in the Boonta Eve race is the one shown in the video game even the same vehicle? I also must ask that age-old-question; any plans to build this in bricks (I'm guessing at 1,938 bricks, probably no)?

The easy solution would be for TLG to make the planets dimensionally transcendental. I also laughed when I saw the Dewback but this is a good idea for mini MOCers or a contest.

Thanks Guys. Thanks, It doesn't really feel like I put a lot of time into it - but I just tinker with MOC's little bits at a time, whenever I get chance so It's probably taken longer than it should have I don't really need to wait for good light for this do I . The only things worth noting are: 1. Attach the 1x1 round studs direct to the technic lift arms before attaching to the '1x1 brick with 4 studs on sides' otherwise the stud will be too far away from the 'track' and you won't get good connection. A partial connection to the brick is still strong enough to hold the treads in place, a partial connection to the lift-arm is not. 2. The front and back wheels are made from cut down lightsabre blades - not entirely necessary but I think they improve the look. Flex tubing would probably look OK but I didn't want the hole in the centre. EDIT: I've just noticed that the blue cheese slopes are now available in 1 x 2

Thanks to everybody for the really nice & positive comments. I'm very surprised by how much love the Treadwell is getting - I really expected to take some criticism for him. I'd love to respond to each of you but I've picked out a few comments to answer individually Thanks for the blog Brickdoctor! - That's another huge surprise for these recycled (if slightly updated) MOCs. An easy mistake wokajablocka but your comment made me realise that I first posted the Landspeeder a year ago last week. That's how slow I am at building It is a huge Treadwell - but I'm going to defend it by saying in the distorted world of the Minifig, with their rather large Astromech droids this treadwell fits in nicely. I really like the simplicity and size of the green one which is why I just had to show it, but I think the blue one wins on pose-ability and character. When I compare the two I think the new one is a big improvement but I really am desperate for TLG to release certain pieces in medium dark flesh - I love that colour and think it's perfect for a Luke's speeder. I'd almost given up hope but they've just brought out some 2 x 4 tiles so I think the speeder may return again one day and then I can finally put this creation behind me. I also love Luke's hat but can't take any credit for it Oh yeah, I'm all about the nostalgia. I remember the blue Topps Star Wars cards from back-in-the-day - one of them had a picture of this scene on it It's the old pacing story as usual - but to be fair, I think I could handle a slow down in pace now, but when I was a kid? I'd be happy to show how the Treadwell is built, I'll try to shoot it before the weekend. Once again a big thanks to everyone for the comments.

Praiter Yed's Star Wars Customs
Praiter Yed replied to Praiter Yed's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Well, I did copy the hat from Dr Venkman's design but I have to agree that it is pretty cool -
I've been intending to make this scene ever since I made my first moisture vaporator, I think there may actually be a law that states 'if you make a vaporator, you must make the famed Star Wars deleted scene'. It' seems one thing or another has always prevented me from building this, not enough tan bricks, new tan bricks being used for another MOC, no time etc... But since I finally got round to altering the engines on my Landspeeder (an error Fallenangel pointed out), I decided to enlarge the scene and use it as a small shelf display... Credits: Luke's floppy hat is copied from the technique shown on pg3 here which is attributed to Dr Venkman. I didn't look at any other Lego models for my first vaporator but this time I've borrowed some ideas on parts usage from Pepa Quin. And of course thanks to Fallenangel for pointing out the error of my ways - the current Landspeeder is still a WIP as I'm hoping to make some new decals for the front grill and am still holding out for Lego to release some parts in medium dark flesh.

Well I'd hate to take away your excuse to watch ANH, but the treadwell should really be blue. It was supposed to be part of a vignette I'm working on but I had to reject it because of the colour - which is a shame because I like the size and simplicity of it -

You don't really have to customise any Lego to make this little Treadwell droid but I think it looks better if you do... The little white droid is 2X-3KPR (Tooex) and Luke's floppy hat is copied from the technique shown on pg3 here which is attributed to Dr Venkman.
