  1. ooc: Loot distribution: Leofwein: Grand Potion & Remedy Bobby: Pheonix Essense & Grand Tonic Darksten: Smelling Salts & Smoke Bomb "You are clearly very smart to have recognized it as such right away! You wouldn't happen to remember anything about this fan and/or where you met him?" Darksten says to the star "I would love to meet this mystery person who inspired such a talented person like you!" The ranger continues, doing everything he can from rolling his eyes.
  2. With the adrenaline of battle still coursing through his veins, and the frustration at his parties inability to hit a target, Darksten grumbles to his companions "Why don't we just use Bobby's whip to enamor our target while Leofwien and I deal with the gnome?" Knowing though the party wouldn't stand to the challenge, he mumbles slightly louder to the singer while still gripping his bow closely "What was your inspiration for 'Lovebird'?"
  3. Darksten smiles as his arrows hit true, but is disappointed to see one only infuriates the addict. He fires another two, hoping to finish the fight. Battle order: Bobby: Addict from back Darksten: Addict from back Leofwein: Enthusiast from back Darksten: Enthusiast from back unless enamored then will target addict. If addict is dead and Darksten in enamored then he will stare angerly at the enthusiast while swaying to the music.
  4. Darksten watches with a sort of glee as his arrows fly true and take down the two fans. He quickly reloads and fires another set of arrows. Suggested order of battle: Bobby: Addict from back Darksten #1: Addict from back Darksten #2: Fanatic from back Leofwein: Fanatic from back
  5. With the last cracks of lightning, Darksten decides it is time to save the remainder of his bombs and finish the fight traditionally. His mind was no longer worried that his arrows would leave more of a...lasting impression...on the fans. He skips over his traditional crossbow, and instead begins to fire arrows with his spider string bow from the back. Suggested battle order: Bobby: addict from back Darksten: Devotee from back (x2 unless devotees special damage is roled the first round and/or devotee is killed, then second attack will shift to stalker) Leofwein: fanatic from back
  6. "Maybe if you actually hit your targets I would care about who you went after." Darksten snaps in reply, the rage of battle building inside of him. The ranger himself continues to forgo his bows, instead pulling the pins of two lightning grenades and with one in each hand he starts lobbing them towards the crowd. The resulting bolts of lightning bringing a slight smile as their light reflects off Darksten's darkened face. Suggested order of battle: Bobby: Addict from back Darksten: Lightning bomb x2 from back Leofwein: Fanatic from front
  7. "I don't know but I am done with them. We tried to be nice..." Darksten's frustration is clear in his voice. "But we are not going to loose this one, and we are going to get this done and over with quickly" With that, Darksten sniffed some smelling salts and threw a lightning bomb into the crowd. Suggested battle order: Bobby: Addict from back Darksten: Smelling Salt and lightning bomb from back Leofwein: enthusiast from front
  8. "This is ridiculous" Darksten mutters to himself as he grows frustrated "We start fighting and there is a chance that our target won't come out and we can go down as criminals. But I get the feeling we arent going to get what we want without a little muscle." He says to his companions "I am fine with just bunching together and pushing for the front. Hopefully the crowd will take themselves out with all the arguments" "Course our luck Carly won't want to talk about the song anyways..." Darksten mutters again under his breath "eff it..." As the crowd bickers amongst themselves Darksten covertly throws a bone toward the front door, and shouts "Here she comes from the front!" He then makes his move for the front platform
  9. "I am not sure throwing a bomb would be the best option, but I would be open to it as a last resort. I don't want to scare our target into not coming out though. Perhaps Bobby could try to slither his way inbetween that elf and old man. If you get close, maybe you can give the singer a slight 'love tap' with your whip there so she is more 'willing' to talk? Leofwein, maybe you can try to be be polite at first and ask that helmeted member to move, and if needed flex a little muscle as you can come off as the most intimidating without weapons. I can try throwing a bone and shouting that Carly Swift is now going out the front door, who knows maybe that will work. Lol Haha, might also help if one of you could describe what she looks like as I am not familiar with her." Darksten says all this to his teammates while looking up and down the alley to see where the logical place Carly would have to walk to and/or where he could safely throw a lightning bomb without hurting people
  10. Is there a location which has tips for balancing battles on hosted quests? I ask because it has been mentioned that there is a shortage of quests, but I know for people like me, the 'story' is the easy part and the 'mechanics' is an intimidating part. Maybe a wiki page or some other source to show example "templates" (Aka: for monsters to use against stock lvl one players use this construct, for monsters against players with 10+ power use this, against 4 players us XX monsters, etc) It doesn't have to be a set standard, and simply be a consolidated place for former/current QMs to add their tips. Hope this makes sense!
  11. The Ranger feels a bit of guilt at snapping at the 'child' before him, clearly he should have set a better impression. "It's fine, I'm just getting tired of my teammates leaving me to take the brunt of attacks while they scamper around picking up weapons or hiding in fear" Darksten replies in a muted tone Looking to leave the subject behind, he joins the others in questioning the young lady "We are glad to get you out of there ma'am. My name's Darksten, and my companions and I are members of Heroica. As these two mentioned, we happened to believe that we like similar songs. In particular, we were curious about where you heard the one my friend here..." Darksten gestures towards Bobby, adding a little emphasis on the word 'friend' to make up for snapping previously "...was whistling back in the park" Darksten indicated that Bobby should whistle the song again as only the mage had heard the girl singing, so the girl had no idea what song they were referencing
  12. As the Essence absorbs into Darksten, his eyes flutter open to see Bobby standing over him "What the hell man?!" Darksten shouts at the rogue who the ranger last saw diving out of the way to hide "you just eff'ing left me there to get mauled by the Fairy!" It is then that Darksten sees the Fairy again zipping towards them, joined by a lot more cats than he had previously remembered. The ranger stood to fight, but saw the look in his team's eyes and decided against it, knowing that his own mind was doubting the outcome anyways. He reluctantly reached for his smoke bomb, the one which had been with him since he first started Heroica. He had meant to keep it as a symbol that he never willing fled from battle..a fact he told himself was true since others had pulled their smoke bombs instead of him... but now it seemed it was only him who could complete the task. As if he was pulling off an old bandaid, he removed the pin with a quick flick and threw down the smoke bomb, making sure to scoop up the fluffy white dog as he looked back at the combat, and pride he was leaving behind "I got the dog, grab the girl and let's go" He snaps to his team mates
  13. Darksten is shocked when the world around him begins to grow. By the time he regains his focus, it is clear the fairy was too big of a challenge now, so he shifted his attack to the new kitten which emerged from the box. Suggested Attack order: Bobby: Cat A from back Darksten: Cat B from back Leofwein: Box from front
  14. Once the girl is safely out of the way, Darksten raises his crossbow and fires at the fairy from the back row. Attack order: Darksten: Fairy from back Bobby: Cat from back Leofwein: Litter box from front
  15. "Son of a..." Darksten shouts as he grabs Annabelle to throw her behind them. To the ranger it seemed like the fairy was a pawn to some darker force, but he still wasn't beyond killing her to defend a human.
  16. I like the detective construct, but agree the spellcasting/scrolls part doesn't seem to really fit in. That being said, I like how you started to turn "ether" into "mind power" with some of your traits. It would be a good NPC class for sure, and could be a good PC class as well to roleplay as "good" person for those who might track into assassin.
  17. "Well, I wouldn't mind taking a closer look at the girl on the left either" Darksten says, taking a second to realize he had spoken outloud. "Let's start walking after that one on the left then, but give me a second to try something as we do..." The Ranger says as he takes out his Magic Compass in hopes that it would show him which direction he would have to walk to get to the correct girl.
  18. Darksten awoke suddenly, instinctly reaching for his crossbow. It is a second or two before he realizes he is no longer in the fight, the pain radiating from the area by his coin bag throbbing immensly. He reached for a Grand Potion and downed it. At first he can't help but feel a little frustrated that he was dragged from battle, but realizes the youth of his companions and how under equiped they seemed. "Clearly they are relying on me" he thinks "I better be smarter next time" Looking around, he catches just a few words from the strange mage before he watches him flee. His partners seemed to be beaten up a bit, so he hands them both two potions each. He also passes the kid with the spikey hair one of his Pheonix Essences, because despite his dislike of the radical teen, he seemed to hold up a little better in the fight. The ranger then takes a minute to admire the three girls, and finds it hard pressed to pick one to run after. The scowl of the blonde hair girl however made her seem like a bit of a witch, so he looked to the other two as he wasn't in the mood for that right now. "Want to catch up with that girl on the right?" Darksten said to his companions.
  19. Along these lines, when a player is creating their character, are they able to pick undead/ghost as their "race" and be immune to physical attacks right from the start? The reason I relate it to the on going discussion about poison is because I seem to remember reading an encounter where poisons healed the enemy, and potions hurt. Could be an interesting dynamic for an undead player....
  20. Plan of Attack: Darksten: target shifty from back row Leofwein: target crafty from front row Bobby: target sneaky from front row Darksten watches as the Mage dives for cover, disappointed the party wasn't going to get any magical assistance. None the less he launches his bolt towards one of the dwarves.
  21. "This, erm, gentlemen has a point..." Darksten tells the dwarven group, referring to Bobby "you have some explaining to do" he finishes, loading a bolt into his crossbow and leveling it back towards the dwarf 'leader' pointing an axe at them
  22. Darksten gives an approving nod to the young teen as he shows a little respect to their employer. To Madam Hinckwell he adds "The lad brings up a good point, do you have reason to suspect any of your entourage in spreading your song? Could be a fanatical fan trying to make you more popular, or someone other than the former lover who felt slighted for an action in the past. Could provide some further leads, but if not we will certainly check out the hanging gardens" Darksten returns the nod to Bobby realizing that he too had been to preoccupied thinking about the quest to properly introduce himself. "Probably could have given a quick grammer lesson if I had caught him before hand" the ranger thinks, but instead replies simply "Darksten" then adding quickly so as to not appear rude by ignoring the lady in front of them "we probably will be able to head out soon"
  23. Darksten greeted the Hinckwell matriarch politely, introducing himself to his employer. To the ranger's dismay however, his younger companions chime in with their sloppy street slang. Not that he was overly opposed to it, but their employer seemed to be more sophisticated and he hoped to close as few doors as possible before he could fully explore where they led. To continue the discussion however, he said "That is a beautiful song indeed, the emotion in it is clear. I could see why you would want to keep it personnel. You didn't say though, were you able to perform it for Taliesin or have you only sung it alone in private? Could provide some interesting leads, if that is what you would like us to look for ma'am" Darksten added emphasis to the last word as he cast a sideways glance to his teammates.
  24. With his name selected for the musical quest, Darksten gathers his belongings and makes his way out of the hall.
  25. We already have a female exclusive race, so female specific classes would be fine with me. Just so long as there isn't an over compensation, and the majority of classes remain gender neutral.
