  3. I vote classic! Flesh colored mini-figures never really settled right for me. They look cool when they are alone on their sets, but often clash with the majority of the mini-figures in the Lego collection. Since I like combining all my pieces, that was the majority of the decision for me. Also, I feel I get more for my money with the classic sets. POTC may have fancier parts and everything, but the classics just give me a better sense of value which is hard to explain I guess. Overall, I am more satisfied with the classic sets, but I may pick up some of the POTC sets just for the pieces.
  4. I am glad I am not the only one who breaks their models down into a bin. Shame some great creations get lost, but the good thing with legos is that new ones will always get made! I would love to have an arrangement like you have Techno McKorley! I tried sorting all my bricks once but I am at that stage where it is too much to leave together but not enough to break apart to individual styles. The primary concern I had with displaying my creations was that often the sun would shine on them. This led to a large portion of my white bricks becoming yellowed. A huge disappointment considering that it is a prime building color. @SkaForHire: I agree, brikwars does simplify things down a bit. I would be interested in seeing your version at sometime. Though at this time I am more interested in just getting started! lol
  5. Upon searching this forum, one sees everything from stunning MOCs, to vast lego armies. Even people who have multiples of every pirate set ever made. So my question to you is, what do you do with all your Lego pirates? Does your valiant Red Coat stand guard over your shelves of displayed creations? Does a swashbuckling buccaneer roam the dark abyss of a Lego bin storing parts for your building desires? Do your ships clash on the high seas in games such as brikwars or Evil Stevie's Pirate Game? Do Blue Coats soil themselves and scream like little girls as you strap them to firecrackers and light them? Etc, Etc, Etc. Personally, I have all my legos mixed together in large bins and when I feel like building something, I dig through them for all the parts I need. Once I am done building I usually let it sit out for a bit before taking it apart and putting it back in the bin. I am also interested in trying out Brikwars since I came across the game. (Brikwars was the inspiration for this post as I was wondering if anyone had tried to do a game using some of the large armies I had seen on this forum)
  6. The plate is from LEGO City Set #7047 Coast Watch HQ. Ironic both watch the seas to keep the waters safe! :D
  7. I like your creation a lot! The grey you used for the fortress is in my mind a little nicer than the traditional white and yellow. Though both serve there purpose! As for the baseplate, I ironically have the same one and have a MOC on it that I was going to post in the near future! I am glad I am not the only one thinking it makes for a great pirate baseplate!
  8. I was actually just thinking of this myself the other day. The new redcoats are so different I don't even consider them as part of the same unit as the old redcoats. While it was kinda cool at first to see the new printing on the back and extra details, I found I preferred the old simple design. The white torso of old, with just the simple design on the front, allowed the mind to fill in the blanks and put the emphasis on the lego construction instead of distracting the viewer. I would take an old redcoat/bluecoat over a new soldier any day. As for the others... pirates look the same and the only good minifigure I have that I like of the new series is the governor.
