Heroica RPG - Quest #17: The Lion's Share
Brickdoctor replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
QM Note:Awesome. That's just what I like to see from the players of this quest. Also, how will the metal be melted down? You don't have proper equipment to make a fire hot enough, so I assume this will have to be done with magic again. I figure you can have Arasmyth use the power of his Wind to fan the flames and have Luke give his Garnet to someone to make a forge. Or you can go get Althior's Ruby... -
I would consider something like this to be an epic, if it went on long enough. That's a collection of many fabulous MOCs, though, and the concept of an epic itself is probably better suited to medieval fantasy than sci-fi.

I think my sig was okay, but I shaved off another two lines, bringing my sig down to four lines of text and 150px in images.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion

Indeed. Somehow, knowing that Filoni wasn't a huge fan of all the magic makes me - and I rarely say this - look forward to the next season of CW. Of course, if Lucas keeps doing what he's doing, that might all mean nothing... -
Heroica RPG - Quest #17: The Lion's Share

QM Note: Okay, so what I gather is that Flipz is suggesting a polybolos, which is a dedicated Greek repeating balista operated by a crank. VolcanicPanik is suggesting an oversized version of a chu-ko-nu, which is typically a handheld repeating crossbow operated by rapid back and forth movements of a level. Based on that, I would say that the polybolos would deal more Damage, while the chu-ko-nu would have a higher rate of fire, but I can't tell you anything more until you decide to build them. Do you want to build one or both? (do note that building both would, of course, count against the realistic amount of stuff you'd be able to do before the elves attack again) Additionally, Flipz, how is the mechanism attached to the Slice N Dice? And, VolcanicPanik, how is the tube hollowed out, and how do the arrows drop into the tube? -

Fair point. As I've said before, however, I've had no information throughout this situation that really needed to be disclosed in private. Suspicions for me have been at the extremes; I'm either convinced enough that someone's Scum to accuse them publicly or only have a gut feeling that's better mentioned in public than discussed in private. The only information I have is my suspicions, and I think that voicing them in public has the added benefit of everyone's knowing who has tried to convince me that they were right or wrong. How do you know that? You don't know that the vig made the kill. We already know that there are three factions, and three killers makes perfect sense. That we've never seen more than two kill on the same Night makes less sense and points more towards a one-shot, but it is not at all obvious that the vig is still out there. And if he is, he could very well have been blocked or (less likely) his target protected.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Brickdoctor replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
That was actually a pretty good read. Filoni seems to be handling all the problems we've pointed out pretty well, I think. I guess I always knew in the back of my mind that a lot of the stuff I picked on was Lucas' doing, but it's good to hear it from Filoni himself. Gives me hope for the series. And like I said in the last review of S4 for the blog, I think S4 did a lot of character development and setup work, so, hopefully, S5 can come back and build on that. Respect for Filoni, +1 Respect for Lucas, -1 I find it hilarious, by the way, that I mentioned in the S4 topic that the Maul-Savage battle reminded me of LotR, and in this interview, Filoni compares snake-weirdo to Gollum and Maul to Shelob. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

I don't like to minimod, but as Brickadeer just said... Back on topic, while I'm not a huge fan of CW and don't know much about it beyond what's presented in the episodes, I have to say that Satine doesn't seem that important. Recurring supporting protagonist character in a couple arcs appearing only in CW doesn't really make a character important enough to be a minifig. Having said that, I'm sure there's some more obscure CW character that's been made into a minifig that I can't remember off the top of my head right now, but I can't really argue with TLG if they don't make her into a minifig. -
Well, you guys did get, if I remember correctly, around ten levels of XP out of battles in Quest 4.

What are you actually wanting to hear? I've made my defense. I've addressed your accusations. I've been vocal in public, cautious in private, open with my suspicious, and diligent about keeping what little I've been able to do since Day 1 out in the open where other true Townies can keep me accountable. If you think those are reasons to lynch me, I can't think of anything I could say to change your mind.

Heroica RPG - Quest #17: The Lion's Share

QM Note:You built a simple counterweight-powered catapult. Flipz (with some help from Tanma) has mixed up gunpowder, made Fire Bombs, rigged a Fire Bomb trap, made a hwacha, made a practical trebuchet that doesn't need a giant counterweight that would be too big to move to the top of the tower, made a melee turret, booby trapped a bridge, and is working on bear traps, nets, and barricades. Digging a hole and camouflaging it is a classic trick. The shields, swords, and pikes are weapons, not defenses. This Quest is not an opportunity for you to make equipment; it's a challenge of maintaining a defense by thinking outside the box. I don't remember exactly if you suggested arrow machine guns, but I don't remember that you specifically layed out how to make the machine guns. I don't mean to pick on you or favor one player over another, but I stated at the beginning of the quest what I was looking for from the players. Flipz and Capt.JohnPaul have been innovating pretty much from the beginning. The stakes in front of the walls, the destruction of the bridge, the nails in the ground, and (even though it was done with magic) the widening of the river were all defenses that were done outside the box of the basic rules for battle of Heroica RPG. (additionally, when I mentioned "knowledge ahead of his time", it was after Flipz had sown the ground with nails to attract lightning, and medieval soldiers had very little - if any - knowledge of how electricity worked) That being said, you did have the idea of lining the walls with hay, but I don't think that was ever implemented. -
Yes, it does, considering that I've been playing for nearly a year and I'm at seven thousand. (plus the thousand I spent to create the guild and the few hundred I've spent on my addiction to Magic Mushrooms) Of course, I tend to die once every week to two weeks at around 400 Fame, and Fame accumulation slows down tremendously after 230 Fame, so maybe that's why.

I'll have to watch those when I get the time. Thanks.

Don't forget that your nice QM doesn't take away Hwacha ammo if you don't score a Hit, Critical Hit, or Shield.

QM Note:In the words of Fallenangel, "Bah, retcons!" Sure. QM Note:I'm afraid I don't know what mechanism you're talking about. I assume it has something to do with the arrow machine gun. Also, remember that without a mount, the Onager has to point in one direction and only target enemies in that general direction, so you need to select a direction for it to point, too. -

It's twelve, actually, but the number of targets it can affect is unlimited due to the explosive arrowheads.

You bury nails in the ground across from the West Wall. You realize that heroes would now have a temporary Lucky effect whenever they cast Lightning Elemental spells aimed in that direction.QM Note: Have you decided whether or not to try the infiltration mission? If you are going to do that, I need to build some new sets. Also, the Reconstructed Onager is still waiting for a verdict on its placement. -

That's nothing! (the above is not my picture, only rehosted after I'd adjusted the size to fit EB's guidelines) Mobs/'Conventions', as they're called, are a ton of fun. Especially as a Necro, Wizzy, or Archer or Huntress with a T8+ bow.
