  1. I'm reading some comments here and on flickr, and I'm surprised -- did anyone actually think that there wouldn't be any Sith sets? We pretty much already knew there would be Sith sets to go with the 3D release that would be too far along to be cancelled. The Clones sets proved it.
  2. Won't fray, yes; on the other hand, cloth is much more forgiving if you accidentally crease or fold the piece.
  3. They can be Knocked Back; that has the same effect.
  4. I agree. That was one of the reasons I was so skeptical that this was even real. The last two SDCCs have seen the unveiling of iconic, much-demanded sets: the updated TIE/ln, the Queen Amidala minifig, and the Rancor (with its pit). The concept itself of the AT-AP (as both a set and a vehicle in the saga) is rather 'meh'.
  5. The first of the 2014 Star Wars sets to be unveiled is an AT-AP, shown today at San Diego Comic Con. It's scheduled for a March 2014 release at $69.99, with 717 pieces. Discuss in our Star Wars forum. (Thanks to member CM4S for the tip and to The Brothers Brick for the picture and set details.)
  6. It's been ready for a week. I'm moving it now.
  7. I stand corrected. FBTB and TBB both announced it on their blogs with more details, right after the 11:00 scheduled time for the unveiling. March 2014 release ( ), $69.99, 717 pieces.
  8. I went back to the video and clicked on the source image there, which doesn't have jaggies. Those must be the fault of whoever resized the picture you posted here. But those other two renders/pictures were both better lit than this one.Plus this set isn't supposed to be unveiled for a couple more hours, and I have to wonder where Brick Show TV got their picture from. No movie blogs or normal news sites appear to have it; they're usually the ones with the pictures first during SDCC. And none of the major LEGO sites have it up, so it doesn't seem like a picture TLG distributed to the fan sites. (Unless Brick Show posted it earlier than they were supposed to.) And this is also a vehicle that is by no means easily recognizable. The last two years, the SDCC unveilings have been much-asked-for, iconic sets: a Rancor pit and a TIE/ln remake and a Queen Amidala minifig. I know there's a fair possibility that I'm wrong, but considering the poorer quality of the image and the lack of sources, I have to be skeptical.
  9. Where did that picture originate? It looks like a render, and not up to TLG's normal quality. The lighting is poor, the image is noisy, the reflections on the Wookiee look fake, and there're jagged edges between the background and the subject in many areas.
  10. Looking at Solscud's pictures, I'm thinking you'll at least have to cut off some or all of the protruding round black bit around the pin from the background, so you can get a pair of wire cutters in to cut the pin. Then I assume you could cut the pin again as close as possible to the jetpack, take off the head and helmet, bend the pack a bit to slip it over the pin and off the neck, and cut the pin once more close to the torso so that it'd be hidden when the pack was put back.
  11. Altair told Cronk that he could keep it.

  13. Official images of the two new rumored Minecraft sets, The Village and The Nether, were posted on cnet, while images of SDCC exclusives Micro-scale Bag End and Jek-14 Mini Stealth Starfighter were uploaded by Movie Talk, a Yahoo blog. Thanks, CM4S and just2good for the links. You can discuss the new Minecraft sets over in our Special themes forum, the Hobbit exclusive in our Historic forum, and the Yoda Chronicles exclusive in our Star Wars forum.
  14. It doesn't look that bad, actually. Certainly better than the last Yoda Chronicles exclusive they made, for the Times Square event.
  15. The CW gunship has a second door in the space vacated by the ball turrets -- it might be a better idea to shorten and/or move slightly back the main doors and add a 2- or 3-wide secondary door in front of them. (Although I'm not sure if the structure of the set will allow the necessary Technic to be added there.)
  16. The 2013 Sail Barge (Star Wars) has plastic sails whereas the 2006 edition had cloth. I'm not sure if this is the case over all themes or not.
  17. Maybe it's the current lack of that taper down to ~1 stud that makes it look unusually thick, then. I was trying to compare* to studio model shots like this, but it is indeed hard to get a sense of scale with a model as big as yours. *I was looking at the thickness of the wings compared to the width of the R2 unit; it looked like a little less than half the width of the droid next to the engines and a fourth the width of the droid next to the guns, and I think your R2 unit which looks perfectly scaled is 6-wide.
  18. It's looking good! Thanks for the update, drakmin. Only thing I'm not sure about is the 2-stud-thick wings. Even though 1-stud-thick wings are often used in minifigs scale, they are clearly too thick in that scale. 1-stud-thick wings would probably look more accurate in this scale. But I understand that that might not be possible for structural reasons.
