A very nice ship in every regard indeed and some clever html i assume with the links, I like little surprises like that. Scorpio rises yet again...

Reading a recent article about 3d printers and applications I was surprised that they are already printing food. The experiments have already yielded cheese and turkey (loaf I assume) and stated that once the flavors are ironed out they will be able to print a cheeseburger. Neat and scarey all at once. Meanwhile it appears our favorite brick company is already well into the tech with their prototype models as the following image from a past issue of BrickJounal suggest. Hello from Down Underer in Adelaide, can't wait to see what you come up with...

I like the shorter 'squat' scale, more in line with the proportions of a minifig...

[MOC] UCS Nebulon B - Medical Frigate 'Redemption'

Very nice indeed... I love the fact that it looks Clone Warsy and functional, not just a bunch of random details.

Great job on your first MOC, gotta break the ice sometime. Love to see better photos, try outside on a bright day but set it up in the shade. A large curved piece of card in a box makes a great set to photograph on.

I have only read the breadth of this thread but can see some clearway to this subject. I think that Lego enthusiasts will always buy lego products, also it would be a pain to wait about 1/2 hour per piece ( just guessing) when you can purchase around 200 in the same time. 3D printed parts are always likely to require a 'cleanup' time as the resolution to make them as smooth as a traditional part is unlikely ( I may be wrong) 3D printers do give us the ability to create our own parts which is great but TLC already produce enough to make anything as we have seen on MOC sites such as this. TLG already faces stiff competition from companies basically making their designs so throw copyright out the window unless you reverse engineer LDD parts for that purpose. So to sum up I think that while printers will enable us new personalized parts I think that the brick will live on, after all TLG has invested a lot of moola in their endevour...

Thanks again arrived on Friday... a nice little welcome home.

A fantastic vehicle on it's own but the concept is gorgeous. Fish vs Frogs??

Ha , don't worry its under there. Right that's it your off my Xmas list! Kidding, This thing was always going to be over the line in the sand for a few just like the rancor release. But don't forget that this is only a visual and you would actually be voting for TLG version. Thanks for all of the comments folks I will definately take them on board. I really wanted to post the bantha here in production but didn't want to waste any one time viewers without a CUUSOO link to click. Maybe next time I will have to chance it. When I get time I will see if modifying the 'Donald Duck' mouth helps any and maybe flattening the side like the regular creatures TLG produces.

Thanks to all you guys for the feedback, it's really important to my design sense. With the common issue of the Bantha being cartoony I can't disagree. It is of my opinion that the lego minifig world is rather Chibi and that something of this ilk suits. That being said I think that TLG would probably apply their sensibilities to this project should it get 10 000 votes (and in the case that it doesn't). The saddle would be , in final design that to accommodate two standard 2x2 slope bricks on each side to fill the gap in the case there is no rider. The horse saddles are only compatible with a two stud wide model and so a new solution would be needed. The model is made of 11 sections which are the horns, 4 legs, the leg hub, 3 tail sections and the main body mold. With the mouth part yes rather large but it did seem appropriate at the time with a little lol from me. Please note that I a only commenting on the time I had and not defending as it may seem when I address all of the issues at once. I do thank everyone for taking the time to comment and since Lego now own the idea in embryo I am sure they will produce a worthy Bantha with or without this.
-
Once again I am interested in comments about the beast design, especially with this Bantha. Have I strayed too far from the Lego mold or does it fit in. Sometimes when designing this type of thing it's hard to know when you cross the line with regard to what you want to see and what is appropriate. Anyhow feedback welcome both here and on Flickr. Oh and for voters... http://lego.cuusoo.c...deas/view/33164 Updated Concept based on feedback, thanks all.
