Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return
KotZ replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
Kiray takes a few ragged breaths as the battle finishes, utterly exhausted and emotionally drained. She watches, stunned as Torald makes his leap. "Well, it's over. Or seems like it." Hearing Arthur's suggestion, she responds, "A drink first to soothe pain, then we can clean up. The city owes us at least a moment's rest." If Kiray has anything borrowed from anyone, feel free to reclaim it. -
[OL - A-MCRA] Travels to Terraversa
KotZ replied to Captain Genaro's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
"Well, this is the building," the guard with Emile noted. "Of course. As if Icarus up there didn't give it away." Emile looked around, the Huntress had tagged along with them this time. Emile found himself slightly annoyed she had come, as if they needed a babysitter. "Alright, let's find this entrance." The Oleanders looked down at a grate. A sewer. "Think this could be it?" Emile asked nobody in particular. "Seems to small to be a secret entrance. And too open." He and his comrade discussed the possibility when Emile realized the Huntress had drifted away. "Hey, where'd you go?" "You scaled the damned building?" Emile shouted when she called down to him. "Well this building does have a statue of Icarus." The Huntress then pulled open a trap door on the roof. "Boy can fly. Why would the entrance be in the ground?" "You've got to be kidding me," Emile muttered as he moved to scale the building. Emile climbed through the hidden passageway, that seemed to go all the way to the back of the building, and then a steep climb down to what he ventured to guess was below the surface and foundation of the building. When he crawled out of the narrow space, he found the Huntress... ... pulling the knife she threw out of the killed guard who was watching over the chest with what he presumed had the clue inside. "Alright, let's get to it," Emile said as he opened the chest. Inside was a parchment that the Huntress immediately snatched from his hands to read over. "Yup, this is it," she confirmed. The second clue. -

If that's the case, since Kiray is hastened she can split up so we can get an attack in. "I've got 'Diana'," Kiray said through gritted teeth. She accepts the shield and then fires the crossbow at Diana. "Spirits I hope this is just a nightmare." -

Kiray listens in shock to Throlar. She foinds herself at a loss for words, even more so when Atramor takes his own life. "You... you haver a point." She takes a step back from Diana. "This... this can't be real." She goes for the door as well. -

"Di... Diana?" Kiray says, her voice breaking. She immediately sweeps the assassin into a hug. "Where were you? We needed you." Kiray took a step back and breathed, drinking in the sight of her closest friend. "I'm sorry. You never had to be here and stop them. It wasn't your fight. I know you wished to deal with the Houses, I know about your family but still I lost hope after I didn't see you. Losing you..." she chokes up "... and Var..." again she loses it. "I don't know why I would be fightig, but you taught me how in Heroica. Maybe I grew from you but I wish you were here at my side every battle. "You, you and Actaeon I trusted to be here," Kiray started crying. They weren't small tears; they were full on sobs,, "but only you made it out. Why couldn't all of us?" "I hate myself," Kiray said. "Why couldn't I do better?" -

Kiray takes a deep breath as she shoots up, waking up. Then the nasuea overcame, her head throbbing worse than the most intense hangover she's experienced. "We're... alive? We're all here? We won? Well, I hesistate to say won." She tests her legs before fully standing up. There was a big grin as she saw the other Heroes moving around. Hearing about the Wolfgang, she goes to the former leaders of the underground group. "So, what now? We've disbanded I see. Do you have any leads on Diana? What will the other members do now, the ones not Heroes? Or well, ex-Heroes?" She then eases herself into a chair, trying to fight back the tears of everything she's seen. -

Kiray watched the explosion, a grin on her face. "Stay safe everyone. For those of us who won't survive, know it's for a good cause." She then drinks a Nostrum, Smelling Salts, and a mead. -
Blank smile most definitely.

I still alternate between you looking like Monk and also like Petaldan. And I only see Hinkley as Fabuland characters. But I assure everyone, @Capt.JohnPaul looks exactly like Alexandre and Leufwein.

Sorry for the bump everyone, but here's a shot of Luna I did earlier. I wanted to try more than my normal color correction (as that' all I've been doing for awhile) amd try makling spells, something I haven't done since college, and it shows how bad I've gotten. But here it is!

"Right behind you." Kiray downs her smelling salts, pulls her crossbow to her chest, taking aim at and firing at Cannoneer A from the back. -
"This is the sword they mentioned," the natice said. "What an awful blade." "Trust me." "This is beautiful." And then he felt the power from it.

Three natives in dark green clothing, to camoflauge themselves, silently stalked through the forest. But up on the ridge were Gilbert, his native guide, and a mercenary, carefully keeping watch. They believed these were some of the men who attacked the previous expedition. "Don't make a sound," Gilbert warned, carefully keeping watch. "There!" Gilbert said, elbowing his native guide. "Let the others pass, they'll lead us to their camp. Take Out ol' pegleg though." FWWP! The native but a dart into his blow gun and shot. They heard the peglegged enemy fall to the ground, seeing his blood spill out. "Good," Gilbert said. "Signal the others, I think we found their hideout."

[OL - Era II - Ch II - Cat. B] Destroying the Idol
KotZ posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
"This is one of the objects deep in the woods," the native Fatu Hivan told Jean. "I don't like this," Jean told the soldier. "Be ready."| The guard took up a stance, ready to fire a shot at any attacker. "Sir," the tropper started, "are you sure this is safe?" "Absolutely," Jean replied as he approaced the idol. "There's nothing to be scared of." "This is an olod monument," the islander added. "I can tell." Jean looked at the talisman. "You know, if they respected this thing more, it wouldn't be overgrown with weeds." "Why does it have this funny hat?" Jean asked. "Supposedly they believe the Great One wears a hat of knowledge." "A hat of knowledge?" Jean repeated. "What a load of bull." "It's what they say, sir." BLAM! The Islander and the guard both instincitvley ducked. "I don't see any incoming fire, sir!" the guard shouted. "Of course not, you numbskull!" Jean returned. "It was me who fired the damned shot!" And lo, it was.The idol was nearly in pieces. It's golden hat was blown to the ground. "The Order of the Faith is the only true religion," Jean started. "Anything else is blasphemy and must be dealt with. Let's get a move on." -

Thank you both! Thanks! I might try to build more like this at some point. I'm always trying to tie in Emile's story to my builds some way, even if he isn't appearing in the MOC. And Emile's men don't joke about Sea Rats for two reasons: one, storywise, Emile and co. were similar at one point before he joined his glorious nation; two, Oleon has always heard it's rude to make fun of children -
They've returned. Sans pictures though. I agree to an extent (I'll physically, well no not actually) kill for Diana for Kiray's story. I think that at times, Heroica has high stakers regarding characters, but we play too safe to get the best possible outcome. Maybe that's metagaming it (I know I have), rather than playing how our respective characters would play. But there is a truth to GMs (myself included) making outcomes be between "overwhelming success" and "success".
