Ideas for new sets(adventure)
BearHeart replied to Piranha's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Being a big fan of the adventurers theme, I have a few ideas: 1) Johnny Thunder explores medieval Europe. Sets would include castle ruins, ghost knights, catacombs, ancient sewers, a skeleton king etc. 2) Johnny Thunder on the high seas. Johnny thunder could visit some uncharted islands (ala King Kong) on a variety of ships, everything would have have a 1920s look to them of course. The islands would include natives, ancient sculptures, strange beast etc. Every island would have different things on them and be different sizes. 3) Johnny Thunder in the Wild West. Gold Mines, Prospectors, western town sets, a fort, bandits, etc. (Kind of a revival of Wild West and Adventurers in one.) -
Would you like to see more fantasy/adventure based themes.

If you want to read some excellent fantasy check out Scott R. Bakker's "Prince of Nothing" series. I've read the first and second book out of the three book series. Its EXTREMELY well written with an epic storyline and also definitely geared towards adults. ( Sidenote: Scott R. Bakker lives in my hometown X-O ). PS I know this post is OT but I just had to mention PoN *wub* -
Someone has got the new 7094 King's Castle Siege!

Wow, thats a lot of Bley! I like the Silver and gold pieces, especially the helmets. ( Too bad he didn't post a pic of the dragon) -
LOL, I stumbled across this MOC on Brickshelf yesterday (before reading this thread :-D )... I was even going to post it. I like the use of the sand green on the roof tiles. *wub*

Out of curiosity, why do you say that Narnia is not a strong franchise while HP is. -
Im 24 but I feel 6-12 :-P

I voted for VDF *knight* because with the upcoming Castle line, this castle will make an awesome main base for the skeleton *skull* faction (with modifications of course). I recently purchased VDF new in sealed box on eBay for $50 *y*

Xwingyoda, what are those orcs you keep mentioning? Are they confirmed or just speculation? Just wondering. -
I'd also pay more money for printed bricks with no stickers.

The January 07 sets were kind of 'meh' to me (except for the battlepacks) but the mid-year sets look awesome. So actually, I'm very excited to about LEGO SW X-D

Im talking about PURE Fantasy: No lasers, no aliens, no space ships, no robots, no guns, no hi-tech gadgets, no space travel, no computers, no bionic body parts, no city-planets, no tanks, no giant space stations, no shield generators, no electricity, no steam power, no inter-planetary governments and no hovering vehicles. THATS the kind of fantasy theme Im talking about, hope that clears everything up for you and future posters :-) *y* -

Star Wars is science fiction |-/ I'm talking about knights, monsters, wizards, castles, ruins, etc. (no spaceships or lasers) -
Here is an interesting web page I found. It contains coverage from 07 the Australian Toy Fair: - LEGO MTT wins award for best license product - More pics of upcoming sets - More battlepacks from LEGO?!? ('One interest item that was discussed was the huge success of the multi-figure battle packs of Droids and Clones. Lego was been so impressed with the sale of these sets that we will most definitely see more troop sets added to the mix'. see last sentence from the LEGO paragraph) EDIT: oops, sorry. Here is the link: Australian Toy Fair 07 - LEGO

One thing I'd like to see more from LEGO is more fantasy and adventure based themes. Harry Potter seems to be on its last legs, there are no new Viking sets on the horizon, Avatar Airbender seemed to be a one hit wonder and its been four years since we've had an Adventurers line. The only theme right now is the upcoming Castle line. There is a lot of science fiction based themes (SW, Mars Mission, Aquaraiders, Alpha Team, Dino Attack) but very little history/fantasy themes. I'd be really glad if I saw at least one more fantasy theme in the near future, either a license(see my Chronicles of Narnia post in the theatre forum) or an original theme. What do you think?

I was recently thinking about this. I think the Chronicles of Narnia would be a great substitution for what seems to be the end of LEGO Harry Potter. CoN is a very kid-friendly franchise, and with seven books in the franchise there is a lot of potential for great sets. I can think of a few great sets from the first movie alone (Passage through the Wardrobe, Mr. Tumnus's Cave, White Witch's Sleigh, White Witch's Palace...) and with the second movie being released in 2008 there is potential for even more. However, I think the biggest obstacle is that the current CoN movies are produced by Disney and I don't know if they would be willing to sell the license to LEGO. Hasbro does have a license for CoN so why cant LEGO share a Narnia license with Hasbro like they do with Star Wars. What are your thoughts?

The only things I would change is to get rid of the firing mechanism that do nothing but drive up the price of the sets.
