  1. I would like a new Vikings theme, if it has no features that I like then I will save money. But TLG won't make any money out of that, so...
  2. The twist just gets twistier!
  3. Regarding pirate sets, I haven't bought any non-licenced pirate stuff since the very early 90s. I don't like the current line-up and didn't like the previous one either. Not that the ships aren't cool, but I don't want to open that Pandora's box of getting into ships. (or trains, or modulars...) I get multiples of some. I get 1 of some. I got a handful of evil dwarves, heroic knights, evil knights & minotaurs. I got 1 of any other castle relevant minifig. If I had my time again, I would get more than 1 elf. But I think the most of one I have is 7, of the evil knight. It's more like a band than a full army.
  4. What everyone said. It's the same as when you move house! Put them in boxes and use bubbles! Pack models in snugly so they don't move around, if there are any cavities fill them up. Don't make it too tight or any movement will cause the bubbles to do the damage. It's like constant airbags for your Lego. Also make sure that your boxes are sitting securely and don't bounce around. Use straps, rope, whatever to stop your "furniture" from getting airborne or banging into each other. If you have a huge model, it is often helpful to break it down into solid segments to make transport more manageable. But then you'd have to buy more bread at the end for the trip home! Plus if moisture gets into bubbles they don't go mouldy.
  5. Looks convincingly metallic
  6. You're right again. I just can't find the words for the Dol Guldur sequence.
  7. While I really like the 2 mechs and the evil robot if you got rid of the helmet & claw arm, my favourite is probably the Insectoid droid (not that I have any of the sets, but I do like the minifigs). The GS droid heads are interesting. I don't know who said it first, but it is a very similar shape to the Slave I!
  8. For better or worse, over the years there have been a handful of minifigs of the robotic variety, particularly in the Space theme. Early on droids were all brick-built, but from 1994 onwards we started getting some with the standard minifig parts. So which of that type is your favourite? (Not including brick-built, The Lego Movie or licenced) L to R: Spyrius, Exploriens, UFO blue, UFO red, Insectoids L to R: CMF robot, CMF evil robot, CMF wind-up robot, CMF wind-up lady robot L to R: Galaxy Squad blue, green, orange, red L to R: CMF mech, CMF evil mech Anyone I've forgotten? I put the clockwork robots in there but I don't really count them, and Squidtron from SP3 doesn't look very droid/robot-like to me so I skipped him. Whereas everyone else here looks like a droid.
  9. Well for me I buy for the minifigs, horses (dragons if there are any) and to have a castle/fortress for each army. I get all of the sets because these days everything is spread out to make you get all of the sets... I don't just get them if I like the minifigs, I get them anyway. I get more if I like them more, but try not to have so big an army as to overwhelm their enemies. I also buy more sets if they are on sale... Like 30% off the entire line was really hard to not buy a 3rd castle when I'd "completed" my collection already! Then I also Bricklink additional knights & horses. Just yesterday I "finished" my castle/army collection again.
  10. You are right that it is not as sturdy as other Lego sets, but this one is definitely aimed at AFOLs who are less likely to be "playing" with it. But I believe it is more sturdy than the original Ideas project, which was even more designed for looks rather than sturdiness.
  11. At least you have a Black Pearl, that thing was on the shelf for less than a week. Not that I was willing to pay full price for one if I found it.
  12. Try this one And if you want/need more
  13. September release for NZ either means that's when it hits S@H (which will be much the same worldwide) or when it finally hits retail after the long delay, assuming they get Ideas sets the same as Australia. Keeping in mind that R.I., Exo-Suit & Birds have not hit here yet, if ever. I think Ghostbusters may have hit at around that time or later last year, so whenever that set was first available online last year is probably around the mark for this year's releases. (Online and in USA/Europe) And $110 for NZ would be around $60 for USA. Ghostbusters was $90 v $50, Exo-Suit $70 v $35. They may have won the cricket (just) but we still get slightly better Lego prices!
  14. Here's another one I just realised, every venue or place with the word "brick" in it I automatically assume is a Lego reference
  15. Great and thanks! I only had 2 small SP2 sets as a kid, I had more M:Tron & B2. Most of my Space collection is from eBay or Bricklink 5-8 years ago, you know, AFOL disease. The dark green windows and green minifigs easily made it my favourite Space theme, although anything from 1987-96 is right up there. (Nothing wrong with Classic of course, except I don't like the old helmet.)
  16. Nope, sorry, but I can give you some better clues tomorrow. It's been a busy long weekend.
  17. The big question is: what colour are Watto's hands? Medium blue? (Please, TLG I want medium blue hands for less than $40 or whatever it is at the moment)
  18. Depends when the sets are coming out. If it is the usual castle time, then we will see complete sets at the 2016 toy fairs but perhaps leaked pics late this year.
  19. Yay, my turn...
  20. Where have you been? This is a major scandal (apparently ), there is a thread in the embassy all about the complaints.
  21. Prisoners. The glasses did it for me. Poor kid, rough story, I was disgusted at times.
  22. Thanks everyone, yes SP2 was a really fun theme. Only improvement would be if there was also a base, and the old Blacktron minifigs were cooler than the 2nd lot. All that green made me very happy! Hello, all the specialised parts come from Bricklink. Yes, it is expensive, as these parts are rare to start with, and haven't been released for 20 years now. I don't know about your currency, but it's something like $60 for me to just buy the parts for the base of the train, plus battery box, plus electrics, plus whatever else to flesh it out. Over $100. I already have a good amount of track, but you can never have enough, especially points.
  23. Here comes another... Space Police II monorail train Continuing the monorail theme, the latest installment is Space Police II. This high speed train transports 2 prison pods (both detachable) from... somewhere to somewhere else. I haven't built the land base yet! There never was a base released by TLG for SP2. This train is designed to usually travel in one direction, with the double cockpit at the front. The colour scheme for SP2 was black, (old) grey with red highlights and trans green. For this train I have kept the original grey, to try to make it fit in with the existing sets. The front half of the train uses the 2 windscreen pieces in the same manner as the 2 original sets 6957 & 6984. This forced the train length to be slightly more than usual, if that could be a bad thing... The prison pods are 6 studs wide, 2 more than the train base width. In addition to 2 prisoners, the train seats 3 officers, either driving or controlling surveillance or security. The train has working lights in both cockpits, behind each of the 3 crewmen. When I took the photos the rear half didn't have lights, I have since run electrics through the base. The exterior is 99% the same. The videos do show the final product, but the difference is negligable. The prison pods: To replace battery: In motion with lights: In low light: Comparison with other trains: Link to Flickr
  24. They are March releases so it's possible, but also don't be surprised if the new stuff is hiding out the back while they try to get rid of old sets first.
  25. They look so much better on minidolls! Wow.
