Like Fitzgerald's/Harris Scarfe were. Sale every other week (that brought the price down to what everyone else was selling it at) then a couple of times a year they'd have a big (proper) sale. Highlight of my childhood: when they hosted the Lego World Show and sold all their Lego at 30-50% off... -

Haha, I didn't know what I was getting myself into with all that brown cheese!

Anything made by The Asylum is chock full of bad acting, terrible CGI & props, reused footage and sets. Half the movies are Godzilla themed (like those two movies) the other half are hack cash-ins on recent blockbusters eg Transmorphers, 100 Million BC, Alien Vs Hunter etc. We start each movie marathon with one of those, they often have extremely bad dialogue which brings good laughs... and the accidental kick-in-the-head of the girl who'd just died was hilarious. (During a very serious emotional scene of course!) I will check that one out, cheers!

Okay, I finally had a Saturday at home to take photos in natural light (it is winter here... there's almost no sunlight outside business hours) so we have a shot of all 7 regular sets without stickers: Here we have ADU with all stickers applied: Here are the aliens with all stickers applied: Some UFO ships for comparison: More shots on my flickr (until I upload something else and these disappear into oblivion). They definitely look better with the stickers on. It took me a whole hour to apply all the stickers. (I still prefer printed parts.) If you are considering doing the same, be warned that some sticker applications require partial set deconstruction.

All pieces (none left over) used from 3x 7187 set "Escape From Dragon Prison" + additional pieces: 2 dragon gargoyles, 2 flames & 3 1x2 triple slope "toblerones" Build is restricted by lack of plates, lack of bricks longer than 2 studs, surplus of column bricks, surplus of small slope (cheese wedge). It's pretty messy, but has all 4 walls. Outer gates lead to a door, leads to communal cell with 2 doors. Plenty of defence capability at front & back. 3 catapults above cell. High security prison (standalone) Back of prison... can these bars be separated for a rear escape? Too bad if so, straight into a spiky pit* *spiky pit sold separately 3 levels of gate security... not so easy to escape when other prisoners are being brought in/out: Battering ram of sorts:

Yet again we did a movie marathon for the long weekend. This time we were too stuffed to watch 4 movies so we just did 3: Mega Shark Vs Crocosaurus - rubbish, as expected, so bad it's hilarious. Surprised to see Robert Picardo from Star Trek & Stargate. Predators - seen it before, actually quite good. Fairly similar vibe to Predator but without the 80s cheese. Music reminded me of Alien movies. Book Of Eli - pretty much Fallout 3 ... interesting revelation at the end. Gotta watch it again, now. I hate Gary Oldman. Except when he's Commissioner Gordon.

My Introduction + How Farmville brought me back to LEGO
Artanis I replied to Wardancer's topic in Hello! My name is...
Great introduction & awesome story Wardancer, but just watch that bank balance... Farmville is a much cheaper hobby than Lego! -
You been reading my mind? I haven't shared my 3 Dragon Prisons creation yet. (I got 4, kept 1 original & built something with the other 3.) Were there many pieces left over?

+ $10 off the Lego games Minotaurus, Ninjago & the pyramid one. I have the first two, they are good fun. -
Nice modern rendition. I would like to see it in real Lego to give it a better examination. The original Battrax was an unusual set, it didn't look very "Legoland" but more like a MOC in comparison to pretty much every set outside of the Technic brand.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Artanis I replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Typically each set has 1 or more rare parts or minifigs that make it harder to find all the bits in the one place... and generally BL sellers sell most of the bits separately because they don't have the whole set. A whole used set at a time is almost always easier & cheaper. But some models you might already have most of the parts sitting around, you just source the exclusive/rare parts. In most cases, the answer is a big NO. -
Unda da seeee Dunno about Phantom of the Opera, but I definitely got a Puss-in-Boots vibe

Did the rounds yesterday, significant increase of new stock everywhere except Myer. Target had everything really well shelved and organised for a big sale by the look of things! Curious point re Republic Frigate: there was no price on the shelf for that set, and I scanned one at $199. Everything else was ticketed so I'm guessing it may have had the $149 price in error and I was too slow to get there before it was removed. Hopefully sale sale sale sale sale, come on, sale sale sale ... PS plus everyone still has multiple boxes of series 3 & 4 minifigs... -
ohhhhhh I hate that guy!!!! Skimmed the review because I don't want to miss out on all the surprises. Looks better than I thought.

Frigate for $150 could actually be a plan...
