LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
Artanis I replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Further to the price debate: series 3 & 4 were $5 here... up from $4. Rumour has it that series 5 will be $6. $6 for a single minifig?!? No thanks. Everywhere I go I see full boxes of series 3 & 4 with no stock moving. I wonder why? Looks like I might just be getting a couple of these, MAX. -

You'd better fix her attitude up before it's too late, or she'll turn into one of those non-understanding wives that suppress the AFOL spirit... -
Unusual shape, it looks interesting, but I'm sure would be no good for defending as the enemy can so easily attack each wing from 3 sides. But it does look good as a MOC. I especially like the tiling on top, very official looking. I think in terms of making it more defendable, if it had 8 wings/arms that might work. It reduces the size of attacking army that can fit between towers. Not that I'm asking you to do that, just saying.

REVIEW: 8805 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5
Artanis I replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
There are some really good minifigs in this series. I know I will be most interested in the dwarf warrior. The torso and shield would even be good for human armies. Who will be the first to do a Monty Python scene with the lumberjack? That figure's detail is excellent. Too much to mention, you've covered it all anyway Fangy. Thanks for this comprehensive review, and the laughs along the way. -

I got 3 Ventress hilts (1 extra) in mine, but no spare spiky head! No spare standard hilt either. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Artanis I replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I noticed this during the first season... he wasn't troubled, angry, irrational or rebellious enough compared to his character in Episode II & III. He also appears to have more voice than most of the Jedi High Council members, there are few moments where it seems otherwise. (Mace Windu puts him in place on occasion.) I do recall that The Clone Wars is apparently not about the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker. Maybe it should be, but as a background to some CLONE WARS, because I think he's heading in the wrong direction. -
Not far hopefully, same city. Thing is, my MOCs are not so stable! Definitely not TLG standard. The vehicles and most of the ships should be fine, but the rest will get megamangled, particularly the castles... I used a drum hardware roadcase to transport them last time (castles are new since then), there were a lot of loose pieces on the bottom... The other reason is because I don't know if I'll have room.

Gives a new meaning to "Lego house"... (and not James May's version either!) Unfortunately I do not have the benefit of permanent living arrangements. At present and for another 3 months I have a place with a separate room dedicated to Lego, full of shelves covered in sets. This room has the curtains drawn at all times to keep away the yellow, and the door shut to keep the dust levels down. This will all have to be dismantled for when I have to move. I don't mind so much for the sets (especially Space) but the MOCs that I won't be able to reassemble (in particular the bases) I will miss. I have (pretty much) all the Space sets from 1987-1997 + SP3 built, all the castles & larger fortresses from 1984-> (except KK "legends" castle, you know, the one whose release made no sense) + all of Kingdoms & quite a few other Castle sets mostly 1988-1995 sitting there on display. One part of the floor has the monorail all over it, another is stacked with boxes and the rest is either clean or covered in bags from recently opened sets or boxes & packaging from BL orders. I ran out of room for Alien Conquest - that line is sitting on a table in the drums room. Other than that the Lego is only in the Lego room. I tend to open & build sets as soon as I can, (next day at the latest!!!) and then put them on a shelf to slowly get dusty over the next however long I can leave them built... On the next move I will probably keep the Space sets packed away, depending on the future of Kingdoms & my satisfaction with the completion of armies I will likely set Castle up if possible. I don't see SW going away so I'll keep the figures out at least. I keep boxes... they're also useful for transporting sets without disassembling them in many cases. Thanks for sharing, everyone!

Yep... same underlying punchline, but different enough joke (if I may say so myself ). I think this is the first one using the ACTUAL LEGO CLONE FIGURES though (@Oky...)

There are more new games out... maybe the first post could get updated... I bought Atlantis Treasure. Haven't played it against anyone yet, but it seems to be a game for more strategic thinking compared to the others. The mini subs are cool

Wave it in my face like that, what do you expect... where else am I supposed to look whilst stuck on an escalator? Then my Troll Warship can come over and mop up the spoils from the battle... -
Nice Filonifig! (camera focus was meant to be on Plo Koon & Commander Wolffe... didn't realise until later, but you get the idea )

I hit Myer yesterday afternoon, and in my swag grabbed the last Republic Frigate (phew!). @30% off made it worth the while. Okay, so it appeared that the head storage things were all gone, all but 1 Frigate & Falcon gone, but of all the other notables probably half the stock had moved, the other half still there. Not much else looked to hace moved. The highlight of the expedition though was the 12 out of 10 attractive young woman I was behind on the escalator. Wow - and wearing aerobic tights too. You know when someone's out of your league? Well I felt 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea! We both headed to the same side exit, she picked up the pace (you know: "crap, some creep is following me") rushed to the door, but then turned around and stopped to hold it open for me. I think I nearly died. Sorry, off topic there... by then I'd completely forgotten about the awesome haul I'd obtained (& was carrying at the time) On a whim I'd bought the Atlantis Treasure board game. It was $27 and although doesn't seem to be a game you can play alone it looks like it could be good one. The mini subs are pretty cool. -
You watermarking your funnies now? Yeah where the heck did he get the name "Vader" from? He seemed to pull it out of his um... hat. What kind of a name is that anyway? "Lord Father" I'd ask for a refund.

Well frig it... after all this time no review - I bought it yesterday, built & photographed it last night to put up a review today and what happens? The minifigs were what sold this set for me. 4 exclusive (1 of which will be high demand) there was no way I was going to get the minifigs for a decent price, and then that niggling feeling that I would've gotten much better value for money if I'd bought the whole set... It was an enjoyable build, the new green lightsabres are interesting, and there were some cool pieces in there. It took me forever to work out what the lid on the top was for, and what pulling that thing in and out did. Later on I remembered the bombs and ah-ha! It's pretty cool how you can use the retractable handle to carry the whole thing with 1 finger... On top if you remove 2 red curved vehicle roof pieces there is enough room for a minifig to stowaway in. As far as stickers are concerned, I felt that the round tiles could have been printed. (Nowhere near as bad as the 7957 though, with 6 identically stickered tiles!) Maybe the escape pod parts too, but it was an acceptible sticker application, & the other stickers were fine by me. Not that I prefer stickers to prints ever, but I understand why they're used. Thanks for the review!

Just what I needed to see: a rear view of Viggo Mortensen's "package" - thanks very much!

Very interesting... some cool shapes there, it would be difficult to integrate any of that stuff into a regular scene though. But I'm sure some smart cookie would be able to find a way to fit the technique into a MOC.

Creationary is listed under the board games section. $35 - which is 30% off I believe. I noticed the sets are in the "Boys Toys" section... I checked Myer to see what would be there for the upcoming sale. 9 Tower Bridges, 5 Imperial Flagships, 6 Technic yellow thingies, and only 3 Republic Frigates & Millennium Falcons. Don't like my chances there. -
