Marvel Superheroes 2017 - Set Discussion
Numbuh1Nerd replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Apart from the armored Batsuit in that tiny BvS set, they always seem to put the default figure in the cheapest set, that way everyone's likely to get it. Also, with 3 or 4 figures that will require either new molds or new prints on the face, I'd imagine they'd cut costs by using a pre-existing figure, i.e. the Spidey from Civil War.- 5,808 replies

Perhaps we'll see whatever hair it is that Zane has in the Lego Ninjago Movie will come in black? That might be nice. Oh yeah, I forgot, David Goyer is just kind of a hypocritical pretentious ***wipe! It looks to me like a new arm, judging by the details closer to the torso. I'm pretty sure they won't just use the same old stud shooter, though, since this Cyborg's gun-arm looks waaaaay different from the traditional one.

Marvel Superheroes 2017 - Set Discussion

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the homemade Spidey suit winds up being n SDCC figure. The timing seems about right, and it seems unlike Lego to exclude the real-deal Spider-Man suit from the big showdown set, which is the only one that would make sense. Unless there's a third set we don't know about yet, I'm betting we don't see that suit getting a mass release.- 5,808 replies

I wouldn't get your hopes about J'onn. David Goyer, who's been a pretty key figure in writing just about all of these movies, has said some pretty choice words about Martian Manhunter. Now, Goyer isn't a writer on Justice League, but I'd imagine his opinions either have some clout to the execs or that Snyder and other DCEU mainstays might agree with him given how often they work together on this stuff. Personally, I think there's a really fantastic story in him. Superman, now publically accepted, finds out that J'onn is being held captive in Area 51, and isn't happy. Clark's an alien, too, and the world knows it and is fine with it, so why should J'onn be treated any differently just because he looks less human? It'd make for a nice way to bring Superman back to his more traditional (and interesting) self, and establish a really nice relationship between the two (sort of like what they had in the JLU Christmas special). Given Green Lantern hasn't been cast yet, he's also quite the long shot. Shazam's a little more likely, but whether or not he's been cast is a big question mark. I'd say we're getting 6 this time around, and the sequel will bring out at least one of the Green Lanterns. This is all maybe a little off-topic, though, not to mini-mod.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Numbuh1Nerd replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
My Wal-Mart's got the same display back by the toy department. It looks like there are two whole extra boxes of CMFs dumped into two little compartments. They've even got Batman and Batgirl masks for sale (though I didn't see what all was in them or how much they were because someone was stopped right there chatting). -

Wait, did we account for three sets initially? It's probably just wishful thinking on my behalf, but could we see an updated Doctor Strange figure in one of those? He's supposed to play a pretty big role in the movie, and it would be so nice to get a new figure with more screen-accurate printing.- 5,808 replies

That new Flash is to die for!! I wonder if the new cowl mold could be used for a CW Flash minifig, too? I'm very, very excited for this new Cyborg, and Aquaman looks fantastic! I'm just so very, very excited for these sets!!!!

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Numbuh1Nerd replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well, the difference being that the Joker has been an integral part of the mythos and is about as light or as dark as need be. Lex Luthor stole forty cakes but he also shot a woman in the face at point blank. Tarantula JUST raped Nightwing. That's it. There's literally nothing else of note she's done. You can't look past that because there's nothing else to look at. -

Might I remind you that Tarantula is in a set and she's literally only noteworthy for raping Dick Grayson. I'm gonna go ahead and bet that Lego got some names and designs on their desk and didn't ask any questions. -
Lego games are pretty infamously buggy, Dimensions is no special case.

Do you think it would be possible to leave half the long arm in tact? From the look of things, you could probably cut the one end off, put some kind of stopper on the other end to keep it from sliding out, and then just put normal arms on. Does that sound possible?- 5,808 replies

The Simpsons has gone from being a staple of pop culture to being a part of pop culture's background. The Simpsons just ain't what they used to be. As a matter of fact, all of those packs are exactly the packs I expected to see. They're the same ones littering every store I've been to. Not a lot of LotR, Lego Movie, Simpsons, Wicked Witch, Ninjago, and Chima purchases. It's not hard to see why, either. LotR is a lot of dull colors and lacks the main character (plus the Adventure World is free with the game). Lego-specific franchises aren't much of a draw. The Simpsons' popularity has declined significantly, and dropped to 0 with kids. The Wizard of Oz is pretty unremarkable these days thanks to the hundreds of parodies and re-imaginings, and the original being just so old. It also doesn't open up much content.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

The Brickheadz look well enough. I'm disappointed that they're so theme-specific, as I'm much more interested in general purpose versions of the characters like we saw with the SDCC ones, but whatever. I'll maybe pick one up if they release one of a character (or design) I'm more interested in. -

These are fine enough as far as I'm concerned, but I doubt I'll be buying any until they give me a character I'm particularly interested in.- 5,808 replies

@Hulk_Smash That Deadshot one gave me an idea: if you could find the right head, that torso is perfect for Floyd from his shooting gallery scene in Suicide Squad!

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Numbuh1Nerd replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
My Wal-Mart's been picked over of minifigs already (which I find very strange. I live in a relatively small town and I've yet to meet any real Lego enthusiasts that would feel up bags for the good characters) which has managed to get me King Tut, Orca, and Catman, but it turns out Walgreens is the same price and practically untouched! I finally managed to get my biggest want of this wave: Calculator! Now I'm trying for Red Hood, Zodiac Master, and Eraser! Side Note: Can we stop referring to Barbara and Jim Gordon as being "tan" when they're clearly meant to be hispanic? They cast Rosario Dawson for bricks' sake, that's a pretty clear signal. -
Torsos: I'd try either Elrond's from LotR or Skylor's from the Ninjago Condrai Copter set, and probably their respective legs as well. Head: Maybe Bib Fortuna or Sith Anakin, something with real evil-looking stuff going on around the eyes but a pretty average/chiseled everything else. Hair: No question about this one, the Joshamee Gibbs hair from Pirates of the Caribbean. It's perfect.

This could easily get off-topic fast, but I'm always silently hoping to see Squirrel Girl make it into a set someday, but we only just got Ms Marvel, who's way more major and way more palatable. Kamala's pretty average as far as superheroes go, but it's harder to sell the idea of a girl that just kinda happens to have squirrel powers and stops guys like Galactus and Doctor Doom through conversation and understanding to a public who scoffed at the idea of Ant-Man. Then again, we just got Detroit Steel and the Super Adaptoid, so I'd say #LEGOTippyToe2k18 (Side note: I, too, would definitely pay whatever eBay winds up charging for a Squirrel Girl minifig if they break my heart and make her an SDCC exclusive. She's the one character I'd do it for.) (Hush! Don't tip them off to one of my new favorite customs I've yet to post!!)

Personally, I prefer it. Part of the fun of Lego post-game for me is using different sets of characters to complete levels (for instance, sometimes I'll play levels in LB3 with just Teen Titans) since it gets a little boring using the same 4 or 5 characters for the whole game. After playing the whole story as Batman, Wyldstyle, and Gandalf, they've kinda gotten boring. I want to be able to solve each puzzle with any number of other characters. Truth be told, I wish that some powers were even more generic, like the TARDIS and DeLorean's time traveling, which would be better suited as one thing so more characters that would logically be able to time travel (like Flash or Hermione) could do so without having their own exclusive forms of time travel. I'm guessing either the Lantern Pad or a dimensional rift.

I'm using her head for Aquagirl, but even so, Hispanic heads like that are really rare, especially female ones, so I'd hold onto it just in case something comes up down the line that it could be useful for. -

The fact that they are excluding Ego is surprising. Is there maybe a store exclusive we don't know about? Something to potentially hide the spoilers? I'm also curious as to whether or not the Ravagers are going to use the same torsos that the Guardians had in the sets for the first movie.- 5,808 replies

I definitely get where you're coming from there. I think we're gonna see a Doomsday bigfig down the road, but probably not very soon. I, too, really wish they would they would at least change up the poses of bigfigs. Guys like Darkseid and Thanos probably shouldn't have the posture of the Hulk. Some articulation would be nice, but I'm gonna set the bar at "not all of them are hunched over" and see where we go from there. The thing about villains is that I feel like they're easier to put in sets than heroes are. If they do a Flash rogue, it would make much more sense to put them in a Flash set, because you can put the same Flash figure in a dozen sets that cost a lot more than a book and only ever change up the villain. The heroes are what tend to sell the sets, and Flash is, if not just about, popular enough to carry a set on his own. Making an iconic Flash villain into an exclusive is basically robbing Lego of a set opportunity. It can be a lot harder to get a hero into a set, though, since most sets have 1-4 minifigures and Lego seems to prefer repeatable characters like policemen, goons, or sidekicks to entirely unique, marginally-related heroes that require all new prints or molds for a one-time appearance. I don't know if I'm making any sense here to be honest

I think I'll probably end up swapping the head out on Chief O'Hara for one of the many new Barbara Gordon heads and make Renee Montoya.
