  1. Why? Are fully-CG movies somehow "below" live-action movies? Millions of PIXAR fans would beg to differ. Presuming digital creations are "below" real-brick creations simply because they're digital is prejudice. You didn't qualify your assertion above with any actual reasons, so that's all it is. Any creation, digital or otherwise, should be judged on its own merits or faults - and every creation has both.
  2. Very cool, has a classic G.I.Joe feel to it!
  3. Cyberpunk ultracycle!
  4. What is the brick version #? I'm on LDD 4.3.6 with Brick Version #1033
  5. Hi, BrickArtist4U - did you follow the instructions that I sent to you on Flickr? If so, where, exactly are you encountering a roadblock or error - and if it's an error, what is the exact error message? Just to make sure everything's as it should be - the system in question should have LEGO Digital Designer 4.3.6, POVRay 3.7 rc7, AND LDD-to-POVRay 1.2.10 installed. LDD-to-POVRay should remain open while the POVRay render is initialized, otherwise the include files the converter generates that POVRay needs will not be available.
  6. Pretty sure I already faved and/or commented on Flickr, but had to pop in here, too and say I love it. The Rex reminds me a bit of Grimlock from "Transformers Animated":
  7. Beauty!
  8. I paid $3.49 at Walmart... the one Chima poly I picked up was $3.99, but the five Mini Mechs were $3.49 apiece. The endcap I found them on had a sign that said $3.99, so I was surprised by the final (lower than expected) cost.
  9. Whoa, nice color scheme! I'm jealous, now I want to make one in real life! What do you mean? Are the connections weak? It's possible, since it was a digital-only design...
  10. Heh, I created that immediately after I posted. I'm sure I'm not the only one it happens to, but it happens to me a LOT, like, way more often than could possibly be average.
  11. I decided to work up some detailed pics to display some of the advanced techniques I used. I'm particularly happy with the engine construction, how the panels at 45° were accomplished: "Shirasagi" Class "Tortuga Moon" - engine construction detail by vynsane, on Flickr "Shirasagi" Class "Tortuga Moon" - engine rotation mechanism detail by vynsane, on Flickr

  13. ^ Yes the orange team "Mini Mech" poly has thus far only been found at Walmart. EDIT: Dang. Every time I decide against quoting...
  14. Thanks, I think?
  15. Mark Stafford already did that and put it on CUUSOO
  16. "Tortuga Moon" modified Shirasagi Class smuggling ship by vynsane, on Flickr "She might not look like much, but she's got it where it counts." This modified variant of the Tanuki Corp Shirasagi Class Medium Cargo Shuttle is captained by the notorious smuggler Kaizoku Kortez. Named for the infamous moon used by pirates and smugglers before it was rendered uninhabitable during the piracy crack-downs in this sector of the galaxy, the "Tortuga Moon" has seen better days. While piracy and smuggling has been drastically reduced, it is still the preferred method of wealth acquisition in the small pockets of the galaxy that is too far-flung from the central seat of government influence. Rumor has it Kortez and the mercenary Aliss Oyuki first became romantically entangled while the duo were running guns and fighting, respectively, for the Rendolo Prime Resistance Army. They were, as we all know, on the wrong side of that conflict. 17. This isn't the WIP I was referring to above... that's still on the back-burner. 18. "Take a screenshot" from the "Tool Box" menu now allows you to both choose a folder and filename for the resultant pic . It used to simply dump the screenshot into your operating system's default 'Pictures' folder, with the name "ScreenshotX.png" (with the X being a numeral). Much nicer this way!
  19. So.... I have "outlines on bricks" back. The option only became un-grayed when I also selected "High-quality rendering of bricks in Brick Palette" (which I've always had off, since it seemed unnecessary). Seems like a really odd coupling.
  20. Hopefully it addresses some of the crashing issues in Mac - and also brings back "outlines on bricks", which disappeared with the most recent OSX update... EDIT: Nope, "outlines on bricks" is still disabled... There are a bunch of new heads/coverings, including all the Galaxy Squad robot heads, Galaxy Squad "Buggoid" head (but not the Mosquitoid), and (I think) all of the Chima animal "helmets". Looks like a lot of new CMF hair pieces (s9 "Forest Maiden" braids, s7 "Hippie" hair, s9 "Judge" wig) and a bunch of the beard/hair combos from the new Hobbit sets, as well as a bunch of new shoulder/hip accessories, including the Galaxy Patrol armor, Chima armor, Bagpiper kilt, Fairy skirt, Actor "neck ruffle"... Cool stuff. The 3x3 plate was added back as well.
  21. ^ Yeah, but try finding a 1x4 tile in Trans Bright Green anywhere else - new in this set! That's worth the price of admission right there. 30231 "Space Insectoid" is a freebie at TRU now with a $20 LEGO purchase (in The States, anyway - maybe Canada?). It's available for ordering online again, and even applies to the freebie offer, so if you bought $20 worth of this guy, you'd get another one for free.
  22. ^ Could pick you up some, if you so desired. Let me know here or at the other place.
  23. I found a bunch of 30230 "Mini Mech" yesterday (along with 30161 "Batmobile", 30213 "Gandalf at Dol Goldur, 30222 "Police Helicopter", 30254 "Razcal's Double-Crosser" and 30240 "Z-95 Headhunter") at my Walmart in Fishkill, NY. They were NOT in the LEGO aisle, nor the Easter aisle. They were, oddly enough, on the other side of the bike racks on the endcap of the LEGO Friends aisle that faced the back wall of the store, top to bottom (about 12 to 14 boxes of them, two polys per box).
  24. ^ From your statement above regarding stud collision errors, I inferred that the developers don't intend to tighten up the collision boundary errors on studs because they have to intersect with other bricks in certain ways by their very nature, but that they aren't going to fix those stud-related oddities like the one posted by GNAC because it would be too much effort for not enough reward.
  25. ^ I suppose it's fairly difficult/determined not worth the programming time to make sure studs can only intersect with parts of bricks where they should be able to, though you'd think it would be a priority, since it allows for error.
