  1. People go insane on eBay in December. You just picked the right time to post it. Don't feel bad at all, the value of this set is determined by the buyers, and they've decided it's worth a lot.
  2. And the stickers of the squished bug on the windshield!
  3. I think I smell a Galaxy Squad-themed contest: Build Billy's Ride!
  4. Sounds cool, please post here if you do! I actually developed a new cockpit module for a Vic Viper I was trying to complete before the end of Novvember - but I didn't finish it in time. I will still finish and post it here when I have.
  5. Man, it's been a long, but steady, crawl to the finish line - congrats! All your hard work has paid off. I really hope this passes the review!
  6. The "golden ratio" of $0.10/piece is also just a basic standard we, the outside community, have in our heads. TLG apparently has an internal price sheet that set designers have to adhere to when developing a new set, so some pieces 'cost' more to use in a set than others. Mark Stafford (Nabii) made reference to this part of the process when he posted a pic of his Raid-VPR a few years back. Perhaps the pieces used in the GS sets just cost a bit more than others, in terms of the budget of the set design.
  7. There are quite a few new molds being used, as well as new colors of existing molds.
  8. Yeah, seriously awesome technique on that red team flier. The red robot's head is just absolute MADNESS in design - but I think I love it! The Interceptor is awesome. At first I was hoping for something a little larger, but it's really great as-is. It looks like the cockpit rotates (B-Wing style) as well as separates!
  9. Except that didn't work out too well on Klendathu.
  10. 30230 is most likely a polybag but the rest follow suit with the numbering from the first wave, so I have a feeling they're a second wave of boxed sets.
  11. I thought there was a post previously in this topic, but it might have been elsewhere - a site in the netherlands has not only the currently-known sets 70700 - 70705, but an alleged second wave featuring another five sets, 70706 - 70709 apparently to be released in August, plus a polybag set 30230 to be released along-side the five we already know about.
  12. Except that the insects are a swarm - their tactic is to use an overwhelming number of relatively weaker vehicles (think "Zerg Rush" from Starcraft), whereas the Squad relies on a small number of strong vehicles (think a handful of Terran Siege Tanks). This would have been better conveyed by having say, two or three small swarm vehicles accompanied by a bunch of swarm minifigures in each set where the Squad vehicle was the spotlight, but this would have driven the cost up quite a bit. As it stands, you can army-build the Swarmer (as you've previously stated) and more than even out their chances.
  13. Fantastic work, Cupishalfempty. I'm so psyched for these! The Swarm Interceptor is totally boss.
  14. Yeah, because the rendered version looks completely different Good stuff, Gory51 - Some great shapes and color blocking on this! You're right, though, that it doesn't meet the criteria for an "official" Vic Viper in that the forward prongs need to extend further than the nosecone. You've got the wings, and you have a rear stabilizer, but it's not really extending vertically. I'd love to see your take on an "official" VV, with this as a basis!
  15. I envision it something akin to the back half of ADU Earth Defense HQ. The full description sounds like you're bringing the captured alien to the laboratory.
  16. Actually, it certainly seems that way: Further interpreted: If the fight gets too intense, the Swarm Intercepter can split into 2 machines: an agile jet with shooting missiles and a powerful gun turret Further interpreted: Parts of the Galaxy Squad vehicle become an armored car and an agile flier. Further interpreted: Split the Vermin Vaporizer into a powerful robot and armored lab Further interpreted: With the press of a button, the vehicle can split into a rugged utility vehicle and maneuverable space ship
  17. While the box branding has the 'Galaxy Squad' logotype, it appears there is also a distinct emblem for the Squad. The logotype displays a spaceship-type vehicle splitting into two vehicles at the end: The emblem also has the same 'split' spaceship design in a vertical orientation, but with a pair of stylized wings extending from either side: The 'Bug Obliterator' box actually shows how the flying portion and the rolling portion can combine into one vehicle in the upper right-hand corner, so it appears this 'splitting up' action is part of the theme. It also looks like each team in the Squad has its own emblem - if you go to the pics on flickr and select 'view all sizes', then the largest one, take a look at the picture of the minifigures in the lower right-hand corner of the box. The 'blue team' has a circular emblem that looks something like a scope crosshairs and the orange team has one that looks like a lightning bolt.
  18. YUSSS! These look awesome. Every one of the descriptions said "robot henchman" or some derivation thereof, so I don't see why it's a surprise. There's always the possibility of one in the supposed second wave... I don't think it's gas, I think that's the swarm. They seem to have colonized the moon and are attacking the planet.
  19. I dig these so much, very ED-209ish. I want the book, too - great builders in there. It's cool to see variants of these unofficial official models!
  20. Awesome little build! Not at all, I caught the drift.
  21. I think they're both wonderful - the green fleet totally has that Klingon/Romulan vibe without being derivative! I have to get into some microspace soon...
  22. WOOOT! Pictures! Ones that aren't 3dpi! I think the red one is supposed to be the 'scorpion alien', right? It doesn't look like a mantis to me (which is supposedly the set it comes in). The compound eyes, pincer mandibles and segmented pointy 'tail' on the back of the head looks like an anthropomorphized scorpion to me...
  23. Judging by the piece count and how last years sets were each valued at $10, I'd say $10 again.
  24. I guess that depends on where you look - all three of them are available under seasonal, for instance. Also exclusives. EDIT: buildings, too.
  25. I think they're simply called 'Galaxy Squad' because there are no finalized names for the sets yet and that site had to put something in the 'Title' field when adding them to their database. Don't read too much into it. Besides, if they were to do polybagged squads, I think they'd go the CMF route and have a single set number and blind-packed figures (which would actually be an awesome idea). Also... WOOOHOOO!!! SECOND WAVE!
