  1. Called it; 5 12z gears inside the diff. Sadly, Lego's own Control+ app doesn't seem to be available for this model just yet.
  2. On the other hand, the LBG gear housing does look like it would accept a clutch.
  3. So, diff is 2 parts, a gear and a housing. Also, there's 5 tan 12z gears in the set, I bet they all go inside the diff. It's got 120 degrees rotational symmetry, so that would fit just right.
  4. I think it's mostly due to the audience. It's got to be sturdy because kids WILL bump into everything, and that doesn't help the looks. Colours seem mostly tame to me. And as for performance; it seems to be pretty much on par with the vehicles here, most of which are built by AFOLs unconstrained by the limitations that Lego has. Price is still ridiculous, though.
  5. What stands out to me is that Lego tries to boost sales of the smaller Powered Up sets by adding a license to it, just like the App-controlled Batmobile. I'm curious about the new diff, but not curious enough to spend €130 on it on the first day.
  6. Now that you mention it, yeah! I really love the corkscrew part in the middle. What's the part that gave you most trouble? I bet it's attaching and detaching the chair from all the different mechanisms.
  7. Mods, please don't move or delete this- it's still technic Following TwinLUG's Micropolis standard, you can read about it here: http://twinlug.com/micropolis-micro-city-standard/ It didn't have space for electronics, but I had to add a mechanism of some sort. I think it's a really efficient use of space.
  8. Built for an upcoming competition.
  9. I can't recall this ever happening to me. Y'all treating them right? Temperature fluctuations and mechanical stress don't go well together.
  10. Anyone know what the wheels in R2D2's side arms may be? They seem to have the new 8-tooth gears inside.
  11. Another solid build. Would've preferred more slowmotion shots, maybe.
  12. Once again a very impressive creation, it's great to see the variety in all of your builds. I was very impressed by the first-person part of the video.
  13. Sweet idea, good looks. Really like the lime/black assymmetry.
  14. I recently got the Speed Champions Mini, and was surprised to learn that the mudguards also accomodate bigger wheels. After a lot of tinkering, I managed to fit a Friends figure and a steering wheel inside. (Friends cars often don't have steering wheels. This is unacceptable :p) There won't be any instructions, but hopefully this helps some people who want to build their own:
  15. You're probably thinking of Akiyuki's basket shooter. It's a very nice module, I really like how well the decoration turned out.
  16. Not just that. It's impractical, dangerous, and technically illegal in Quebec. Then again, if everything just needed to be practical we'd all be driving Volvos.
  17. I'm sure no hostility was intended- tone of voice is notoriously hard to get through on the internet, nuance is lost easily. Great model, really dig the camera gimbal.
  18. If you want to build your own car with ridiculous suspension, here you go: More pictures: https://www.flickr.com/photos/28134808@N02/ For any "what part is that?" questions, please refer to: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=30554b&idColor=11#T=C&C=11 https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=21445&idColor=86#T=C&C=86 https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=87994&name=Bar 3L (Bar Arrow)&category=[Bar]#T=C https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=11215&name=Bracket 5 x 2 x 1 1/3 with 2 Holes&category=[Bracket]#T=C
  19. Actually including a link or name might improve your chances getting an answer.
  20. For anyone moaning about the price: that's the cost of advertising. And since this thing is all over the news now, it has obviously paid off. They just had to build it, all the publicity they're getting from it is 100% free.
  21. Been using mine ever since they came out. No signs of degrading yet. And I use them plenty.
  22. Size is identical. I recommend you get the rechargeable one anyway.
  23. At our Lowlug meetings we try to have some varied competitions. This one was the latest: Explanation of the rules is in the video itself. If you want to skip those, just skip to 33 seconds in.
  24. I think the system Lego uses works. Typically, when it's absolutely CRITICAL that the right length of axle is used, Lego pulls out the red and yellow axles. Since that's likely inside a model, that's perfectly fine for me.
  25. Power seems to be a problem. Boost didn't last very long on AAA cells, and this one doesn't either. Let's hope there's a AA battery box and/or rechargeable battery in the future. I also hope the app gives more functionality- the motor-dependent control scheme seems a bit inflexible.
