Lego acquiring Bricklink - Problem with 3D-printed parts?
bricks n bolts replied to ScotNick's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Only things 1.2.6 explicitly allows are stickers, instructions and boxes. Does seem to be some wiggle room for their own interpretation though as 1.2.6 also says items "deemed by BrickLink to be part of LEGO fan culture may be listed". However, look at 1.2.4, that bans modified parts, and includes printed stuff in it's definition of modified.. therefore 3D printing is explicitly banned, but molding is not explicitly allowed, but may pass the 'fan culture' test, whatever that is.. -
Tip, if you want some you can go clone brand, can get 4 pairs / 8 wheels for around £20 is you get one of the suspect ausini fashion (aka friends) trains, for that price can harvest and bin the rest.. (but maybe keep the brown magnet holders) Before I get shot down by mods, I only do this for colours/parts missing from standard offerings, aka custom items as they used to be called on Bricklink

Not what I mean. For the old design..., we never had standard size red wheels.
-
Frustrating, I bet also the flex tracks don't help the case for the old wheels. Also annoying that they only thought of bringing out red versions for the new design.
-
I found that if you are using original Lego axles it is too hard to hammer both the bearings in place on the axle whilst simultaneously hammering them into a technic brick hole, but with the Bricktracks axles it was no problem getting the bearings onto the axles and no hammering was needed at least on the axle side (didn't get taxed for one bag to the UK by the way.. @DameVeraLynn and you get 50 axles, not sure if you buy more). Haven't tried it but if you want to add to wheel holders without cutting there is this post which outlines a method to do that.

Absolutely gorgeous train. Love the detailing on the wagons and carriages (plus period pickup truck), all with a great steamer.. it's like the 7777 concept brought right up to date and rooted back to the early circus, wonderful.

Can also get the original Lego 12v switch motors to work with the 4DBrix switches (doubt possible with Trix). Will post a tutorial when I have things tidied up a bit (new layout post house move), if anyone is interested in the meantime feel free to PM me.

BrickTracks: different curves, PF/9V compatible
bricks n bolts replied to JopieK's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Not sure, but think @coaster mentioned moving from aluminum to steel molds at a new mold shop to ensure greater polish/finish. -
Fx Bricks (Michael Gale) announces Fx Track system

This is all very intriguing and would be nice to get a progress update on which elements will be available first. I think a lot could be achieved just by having new 9V compatible wire and plugs, the old plugs are too hard to rewire and the quality of the wire was always deficient along with the coating perishing in comparison to 12v wire which is for the most part still good. -
Don't use their stuff but think this is what you want - https://www.trixbrix.eu/en_US/p/Servo-Motor-for-Original-Lego-Switches/144 The 4DBrix ones work with 4DBrix and Lego (but not TrixBrix) - https://www.4dbrix.com/products/train/track-switch-motor/ The attachments look very similar which makes you wonder if they are cross compatible, the 4DBrix ones definitely came first.

Lego acquiring Bricklink - Problem with 3D-printed parts?

Maybe was true at one point not supporting violence, but they lost their way somewhere in the late '80s with knights etc.., and then completely with all the sponsorship deals.... Star Wars, it's not the future even, just a 'galaxy very far away' -
This is great, a lot of hard work has gone into this so far, can't wait for further updates.

@Andy Glascott Thought the same, I don't see why not

Hi Andy, That's a great solution. One thought is those 4DBrix monorail switch motors should also work well for Bricktracks points when they come out, due to the technic turntable design. Also, pretty ironic personally, because this last week I've been working on the exact opposite solution, fitting original 12v switch motors (which I have plenty of going back years) to 4DBrix switch points. Agreed, Tom is very helpful when it comes to discussing solutions.

Yes, they are brighter, the diffuser in the brick helps a bit to spread the light though. The link to the original LEDs I got died, so not sure the best place to get LEDs currently, but the bulb replacement suggested by Alain is still there if you want to try with bulbs - https://www.conrad.com/p/barthelme-21101240-micro-filament-lamp-727091

Pictures are back now!

Hi Evans, Sorry, this is totally my fault, I'm hosting the pictures myself and in the middle of a house move, so server has been offline since Thursday until I can get my line restored.
-
Neither are the red wheels (now)
-
Ah, that is what I first thought, getting confused So do you have plans to try running the Brick Automation Project on a Pi with Mono compiler or similar?
-
Ah, OK, so the PuP hubs are reprogrammed in effect? Therefore no need for external laptop or raspberryPi once setup.

@treczoks Looking forward to any progress updates! @Protez1982 Your motor control L298N must be smaller than the ones they used to sell to fit nicely into that tender -
Really enjoyed your train and videos. Great loco, carriages and bridge building. The giant spiral collapsing track is a classic!

This is very nicely done! Curious, what OS and C# compiler did you use on the Raspberry Pi ?
