  1. Seasons greetings to you all.. Unfortunately my Christmas is being spent killing time at my folks' house, waiting to hit the shops (particularly Westfield's Lego store) tomorrow. I haven't gotten any presents this year, but I've bought quite a few things for myself anyway.
  2. I got one of these during the Mirror promo, and it's a nice little model. Have to say, wasn't keen on the minifigure's head.
  3. That Hillside House will be MINE.
  4. What do you use to make the decals? I haven't got them down pat yet. But your stuff is just amazing.
  5. Very nice use of the old school windows for the tram! The main building is hot as well.
  6. Damn, I headed in the wrong direction! How much were they selling for? I'll have to get down there on Boxing Day. (why is it I always miss these things?)
  7. Thank you very much!
  8. I just had a look at a video on Dailymotion, I hadn't heard of it before. It's a very interesting and charming piece of work - I wish I'd thought of having bushes like those. Thanks for your feedback!
  9. I had thought about using them, unfortunately I forgot to make substitutions.
  10. Thank you buddy :)
  11. Yes I do, there's a few of them on BrickShelf. Thank you very much lightnigtiger and fuzzy! The solar panel idea was inspired by the EB community build not so long ago, as well as a picture of one of the upcoming NASA sets. I would definitely go with green energy if I had the chance.
  12. Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't see it.
  13. Thank you both!
  14. Excellent idea with the bell! I like how the other elements (besides the building) are simply constructed, but ooze colour.
  15. I'll keep things short, as I've been doing more promotion for this than anything else to date. If you haven't seen it before: this is my entry for Brick Architect's family home competition, announced a while ago, and is my largest MOC so far. The house was based around the kind of house I'd design for myself, should the opportunity ever arise. More photos of the house are on Flickr: And some very blurry construction photos are in my Facebook album: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=246167&id=603422482&l=4f30d6216f As a side note: I've upgraded my digital camera and am getting to grips with it, but I'm going to be taking pictures of all those other MOCs and MODs I haven't showcased yet, in the near future.
  16. Not just the colours but the shapes of the speeders suit as well. If you make some others (although I'd imagine pink and dark green would be hard to come by) that would be cool.
  17. Excellent work!
  18. Damn! I almost bought one at the Lego shop, didn't think it was worth the price in the end. I did get a small tub of PAB from Westfield's store. The line-up has changed very slightly: they have small vehicle bases, trans red 1x1 plates, large white fences, bamboo shoots, flower stems, pearl gold treasure chests (no lids)... and a few more pieces seen at Bluewater. Gone are the transparent cheese slopes.
  19. I like this MOC: particularly with the train track, the lack of decorations and the cleared snow, it has an "out of town" feel, as if it's located close to a major city but rural enough to be the countryside.
  20. One serious MOC! I can hardly contain my awe about it - just look at all those details, particularly with the subway!
  21. I wasn't too keen on this set before reading this review (which is great, by the way), but I might be tempted - if I found a good deal on the price. The highlight of the set is easily the command centre itself, with all the screen and poster details. Call me nostalgic but I'd much rather have the old-style motorbikes, or at least similar-sized motorbikes, as part of this set.
  22. Excellent job on the church, particularly the novel idea with the stained glass windows! I really have to figure out how to build those kinds of buildings. I am a little surprised to see a king at the nativity scene, if I remember correctly he didn't like the baby very much! Or is he one of the wise men?
  23. I have to agree unreservedly about the minifigures being a major game-changer: without them I don't think Lego would be existent today, let alone as popular. Speaking of minifigures: one thing I would add is the way minifigures have been sold. With a few exceptions, and even excluding BrickLink, we don't have to buy a specific model or set just to get hold of figures. Although we don't have as many packs of minifigures as there used to be (I fondly remember getting the space pack, with the Ice Planet/Spyrius/Unitron figures), there's the build a minifigure thing in the Lego shops, as well as this new collectible minifigures thing. (While people have mentioned fleshies, I've looked and there doesn't seem to be a brown female head.)
  24. Hopefully this is simple enough... Here's an issue I've just now come across with LDD4. When trying to rotate the black hinge toward the wheels, this is the absolute limit of rotation, give or take tenths of degrees. If I rotate it the other way it doesn't go far past the floor.
  25. Another vote for the classic spaceman. I've never actually owned one, but it's very iconic of Lego's roots.
