Very nice design so far, I like how you've used those stair parts. I got myself some a long time ago, but never got around to using them.

Any reason for Pick-A-Brick online over Bricklink?
SilentMode replied to Iysk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Besides VIP points... quantity available - I wanted over 100 2x2 tiles in a certain colour way back, and none of the BL sellers had that many (at an affordable price); guaranteed new parts; they're less expensive than BL for certain parts, such as 2x2 tiles, in some cases; you know roughly when they'll arrive! Although delivery is comparatively slow from Lego, some BL sellers take the cake - especially when you see how fast they invoice buyers. -
Pretty good review of this classic-looking set! I'd seen this house around a few times but never thought of purchasing it. If it had a realtor like that, however, it might have been an easier decision! Funnily enough I like Ted's torso more than the others, but when you consider that the others have back prints I can see why you think it's dull. I would agree that Ted was the lazier compiled figure in the set.

Small but perfectly detailed!

Thank you all once again for your kind comments. I usually say something along the lines of "this was hard", but designing a recording studio was actually quite tricky - I had to do a lot of reference searching for equipment and room designs, and then figure out a layout which was spacious enough to put things in, but small enough to build. I will consider using Brickforge's drumsticks, but I do like the screwdrivers as replacements. I also have a couple of Brickforge guitars somewhere that I forgot to add. In the meantime, I'll get to work on some decals. And HeLena: it would be cool to see your recording studio as well. Never ever ever say (or even think) your work is worse!

Like others have said, this could easily have been a classic set. There's something about that green base and the use of red roof pieces. Excellent work!

Four more discounted keyrings: three manta warriors and a Luke Skywalker.

This is a "raw" model with no custom decals. I may add some at a later date. The return of Bryknii. More photos in the Flickr set.

I can wait for the next swap meet.

This morning visited Morleys in Brixton, and bought four S3 minifigures. My game was off because I'd picked a rapper and pilot instead of a hula girl and gorilla suit - but at least it wasn't a sumo or race driver!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
SilentMode replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I can't be 100% sure, but when looking for gorilla suits yesterday the dots appeared to be different from the one on the cheat sheet. -
Thank you sir! The female head is a custom, made by me.

Update on Westfield: Black fence pieces spotted in PAB. A selection of keyring figures from Star Wars, Atlantis, Harry Potter and Kingdoms have been discounted to just 90p. (If you go there please grab me some Manta Warriors!) A selection of Star Wars and Atlantis magnet sets have been discounted - the Star Wars ones are 2.70, the Atlantis ones 2.40 I think. One of the Star Wars spaceships (they all look alike to me - it's in white and dark red) is discounted to 66.99 (I think). The Vintage Minifigure Collection of females is discounted to 3.60 - only a few of them left! Not so many S3 minifigures at the till now, they're in a compartment on the left. The nearby toy shop and WH Smiths have also started selling S3 minifigures near the tills at the front of the shop.

Had a day so bad it would make kalle say megabloks, but all is better after some retail therapy. 4 x S3 minifigures, all turning out to be gorilla suits after 30% certainty; 5 x discounted keyrings (two Snape, one Luke, one Nute and one Manta Warrior) 1 x Buzz Lightyear keyring 1 x discounted Star Wars magnet set (the one with C-3PO) 1 x Vintage Minifigure Collection (the female one).

Very good idea, particularly the medical set - I don't remember seeing actual patients since the old 80s City sets, and a wheelchair would be a long overdue addition.

The results of the Family Home competition are in!

Picked up a bunch of parts from someone through an online classified ad (which happened to be a feeBay lot), and received some BrickLink orders: one of which was the old cabin cruiser.

Apparently the rumour's been killed. http://www.slashfilm.com/rumor-killed-shia-labeouf-not-signed-to-more-indiana-jones-sequels/

I've just put some ideas down, and here's what I'd initially go for (in alphabetical order)... Astronaut (2) - male + female mid-90s style, with gold visors and white oxygen tanks. Businesspeople (3) - two males and one female in suits. No gender biases. Chef (1) - male, pretty much like the one in 9348. Doctor (1) - male with stethoscope torso. Perhaps comes with brown suitcase. Emo teen (2) - male + female. Government agent (2) - both male and shady-looking. Hippie chick (1) - think "Elsa" hair and pastel colours. Would come with a pedal bike. Kids (2) - one male and one female, made to look like actual children. Nurse (2) - both female: imagine the S1 Cheerleader's head on the S1 Nurse's body. Patient (1) - female in a gown (probably with a slope for legs). Secret agent (1) - male, less sinister-looking than the government agents. Comes with attache case (regular grey suitcase with line prints). Singer (1) - along the same lines as the S2 Pop Star, perhaps with a dress instead. Singer's manager/agent (1) - male in a grey pinstripe suit: wealthy without being cheesy-looking. Teacher (1) - female with reddish brown ponytail hair, white shirt and a red apple. Waitress (1) - exactly like the one in 9348. That gives an even balance of 11 males and 11 females.
-
Very creative of you to use the flippers and cheese slopes the way you have! But this is an excellent technique, probably worth using even after the S4 geisha comes out.

I'll take the pop stars!

I bought this set direct from Lego S@H, and pretty much everything about it is awesome. I couldn't stop playing with the helicopter! The limo is also a great vehicle - in fact it was one of the inspirations for Bryknii.

Thoughts about Licences and TLC's future
SilentMode replied to SuvieD's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Don't forget Disney owns Marvel now, we might eventually see Marvel-based Lego sets. (Might have been mentioned before.)
