I don't see how putting a tonne of red plastic instead of blue into the hoppers can cost more. similarly changing ink colours. it would use the same moulds and print heads but would only require them to be cleaned which Lego must do as regular maintenance anyway.

King Arthur and the knights of the round table. There's enough confusion about where he was from for it to have pan European appeal. it fits the Lego model of a kingdom with a good and bad magical force. There's knights and foes. A couple of castles. A Maiden. And as he whole thing is a myth Lego have free rein on interpreting it. It could be argued that there's been many sub themes within Castle that fit this but none have been specifically Arthurian.

I don't really have any frustrations but it does occur to me that Lego could avoid shoving the same minifigs in multiple sets by simply changing the colour of the plastic used and the colours used to print. I'm thinking about City sets particularly. Take this torso for example. switching to different colours would expand the city minifigs without the need to create a new graphic. it would also reflect reality where clothes come in various colours. In the classic town sets you can find several minifigs using the same torso design in different colours so it should work for modern City minifigs. Say, this torso in different colours. Or this one.

I was given a lot of old technic sets and haven't figured out what to do with them yet apart from part them out and store them in a big drawer. I know at some point I want to build a modern house so I'm thinking technic bricks will be useful for detail. and I'll definitely use technic stuff to build internal structure to bigger buildings. But unless I'm building a structure like a bridge or factory or crane I'm unlikely to incorporate much into my designs.

Green Army Men requisitioned with Minifig Cat Gear

I saw the 'boonie' hat on a flikr gallery but wasn't sure it looked right. Seeing it in this thread convinced me to go buy some. Need to get some Brickarms machetes and Brickforge water flasks now. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
Jargo replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you and, well, I'm not terribly interested in financial gain. My designs are free for LEGO to use. And they're also just suggestions and interpretation. They start out as actual 1:1 size doodles done last thing at night before I turn the light out and go to sleep. So they aren't anything special. I'm an ideas kind of guy rather than an artist. I was going to ask someone from the decal wish-list thread if they fancied having a crack at making decals from some of my designs so people can use them to customise minifigs. As in redrawing them as vector images with nice clean lines and the correct colour pallet. And if anyone has ideas for how to improve any of my unfinished designs feel free to say so in a profile comment. Anyhow, back to series 6 speculation and discussion. A Flamenco dancer could be difficult to make if it's a female. The multi-layered skirt might be too difficult to miniaturise in fabric. It would look fantastic if done right, but I have a hunch that technical difficulties would get in the way of it being excellent. Similarly Can Can dancers and Ballerinas skirts would suffer the same problems. Unless they were moulded pieces. but that limits articulation further than we already have with minifigs. We'll just have to wait and see what accurate spy reports give us in the run up to 2012. -
These two I think. It's certainly the first set I remember getting that had minifigs. The first one I bought for myself was

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
Jargo replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the feedback lifeinplastic. I haven't worked on many of the designs for a while due to having a very demanding puppy who wants to play 24/7 and a really annoying back problem. However I have been doodling some more ideas. I really need to colourise and finalise the ones I've already shown first though. And recolour the generic shop assistant as the pink/purple theme looks revolting to me now. Incidentally, the most viewed of my designs is the inline skater. I don't know if that's significant but it has double the views of most of the other designs. -

My tutorial: Applying/removing offical TLG stickers
Jargo replied to Darth Legolas's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Alcohol. removes even the strongest of sticky stickiness. like those annoying stickers they shove on laptops. Peel those off and the glue residue is horrible but alcohol (a little bit of aftershave cologne) works wonders. -
Well that'd be cheap to produce. Four suited minifigs with Harry Potter hair.

If we're talking forest police facing criminals then I prefer to think they'd be facing the usual townie idiots whose carelessness and selfishness causes incident and calamity. So rather than being 'bandits' the foes of the police are ordinary citizens. And similarly the forest fire service would also be up against ignoramus civilians who may have started a forest fire by having a camp fire or barbeque or simply discarding a bottle of beer which caught the sunlight, focused the heat and started a grass blaze. tiny actions can have huge consequences. that would be a great lesson to teach through play.

I bought the keyring version. One experimental tug on the chain and the pin broke clean off at the top of his head. Now I cant remove the keychain using the usual method but I do have a chain free Max. Shame Im stuck with the weird face on him though.

I like the idea of an alien conquest prehistoric setting. Highly unlikely but would be fun. Aliens capturing Dinosaurs and a time travelling ADU team. I'm probably not going to buy the Dino sets. Though if the Dinosaurs look cool I'll have to buy those from BL to furnish a natural history wing in my city museum. I'd love to be able to buy multiple themes but with my budget so tight I have to pick one and pretty much stick to it.

Oh yeah, both Spielberg projects I notice. Hmmm. Spielberg and Lego have a good relationship and I believe he's a fan of Lego however IMDB.com says JP4 is only in early development stages and due out some time in the next '2-3 years'. Is this Dino 2012 theme to help whet people's appetites for JP4 I wonder. It's been ten years since JP3 so Spielberg will need a lot of hype to get people to go see a third sequel. Ha, I'm clutching at straws. I give up. I'm just going to wait until leaked catalogue scans show up.

I can't make the connection between Pharoahs Quest and Dino 2012. I know Adventurers did a Dino series but why would the Quest team also do one? It's this whole trapping and capturing Dinosaurs thing that bothers me. Jake Raines and company are treasure hunters not trappers and hunters. I could see an adventure into a lost world inhabited by Dinosaurs to seek some rare relics but I'm not getting how or why they'd want to cage Dinosaurs. I suppose the Dinosaurs themselves could be the rare relics but that seems a little weak as a story. Are there any Dinosaur movies or TV shows due to air in 2012 that might tie in with this?
-
Hope it's proper Dinosaurs like Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, Apatosaurus, Oviraptor, Gigantoraptor, Giraffatitan, Velociraptor, Plesiosaur, Iguanodon, Tyrannosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Pteranodon and a Pachycephalosaur. A proper good mix.

I hope the bad guys have decent new torso prints. I'm craving new City citizens right now even rough bad guy ones. I did a little playing around in paint shop pro, recolouring a fireman minifig picture with the orange and dark red colours mentioned. If Lego still use the same torso design but only change the colours and leave the hi-vis stripes it actually looks alright. Well the uniform at least. A dark red helmet looks a bit odd. Sadly my efforts weren't good enough to upload. Perhaps someone with Photoshop would be able to illustrate it properly?
-
Something that just occured to me is the way colours can be altered in print. So for example the harsh over saturation and brightness of some images might make dark orange seem like regular orange or even make the new nougat/medium flesh look orange. I'm not doubting anyone but just raising a point. Catalogue pictures can be deceptive and misleading.

Yeah just checked the 2011 colour pallet, Trans brown #111 is what is generally referred to as trans black. There again they call tan 'brick yellow' and dark tan 'sand yellow' so the naming of colours in-house at Lego is all a bit wonky.
-
Their in-house name for trans black is trans brown though isn't it?

As far as I'm concerned People who hike prices up like that are scum of the earth. It's obscene. I don't care how scarce an item seems to be there's no excuse for it. Profiteers have my utter contempt.
-
Just got my order. The trans brown is very brown which is great. The Lego trans brown bottle doesn't look right but the regular BF bottle in brown is like a decent sherry bottle Some of the clear trans items have a very slight smoky tint to them. The flask and regular bottle. very minor differences though. The broken bottle is a thing of beauty. I showed it to my partner who was very impressed. Then threatened me with it. The test tubes are so freakin' cute. While the square bottle is simple elegance itself. The warning light covers in clear trans will work well as drink glasses and the headlamp lenses will make great Petri dishes and ashtrays. The connections have lots of clutch so if you have clumsy fingers be careful not to apply excessive force. There was a Martini glass missing from my shipment but seeing as I received two freebies I'm not complaining. Overall I'm really happy I bought these. Hopefully trans green bottles will follow soon and then I'll buy some more.
