That, to me, is perfection. I really love it. The perfect addition to the village.

Coelophysis autopsy. That's what kids will want. in a lab of course. and those hazmat helmet pieces from the CMF series in yellow. vats of Dino goo and barrels of that green stuff in the darts the scientists use. And bones and computer screens. cool stuff. A truck with a cannon that fires a net would be cool too. Dino eggs would be spectacularly cool. as would giant millipedes and other oversized creepy insects and arachnids. sorry to break the flow, just had to set this down. before I forgot. carry on...

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
Jargo replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
The christmas episodes are all pants. The next doctor was dire. I can understand Moffat moving the schedule to winter instead of summer. It gives them a longer period of better weather to film in. I can also understand taking a year off from a very expensive show in a time of economic uncertainty. with the 50th anniversary of who in 2013 I'd rather they took their time and made it a fantastic 7th series rather than have weak episodes like we had this last series. I'll miss Rory though. And River Song. I hate having to get used to new companions. I'm kind of hoping it's Jenny his sort of daughter. Anything but a whiny girl. I can't see why he can't have an alien companion. He's met enough and even liked some of them. all the companion has to do is ask questions, get into trouble that needs intervention from the Doctor and occasionally prove useful. -
I can't wait to see the movie. Not having those xenomorphs creeping around will be kinda cool. Seeing the space jockey alien and his ship before it became derelict even cooler. Ridley is absolutely brilliant at the look and feel of a movie. I'm not expecting much in the way of dialogue or plot though. Maybe some cliches and hackneyed philosophy. a bucketful of mythos. sloppy symbolism. but who cares about that garbage anyway. it's a tense sci-fi movie with alien planets, cool tech and people dying in unusual and interesting ways. at least it won't blow chunks like the rest of the alien franchise. After this I'll never watch the sequels again it'll just be Ridley's duology.

One other thing about the hospital. Am I alone in thinking that the doctor wandering around in front of the building looks very sinister? He doesn't even have an ID badge. Totally bogus. The ambulance crew uniform has no medical insignia or ID badge. Oh, and there's a ruddy great helicopter landing on the flimsy ambulance bay roof. What kind of shoddy practises go on at this hospital!

the mining sets seem like an odd sub-theme to add. on the one hand Lego goes down the green earth route with recycling trucks and on the other there's this anachronistic mining operation blowing up the mountains presumably not far from the forest the new fire and police dudes are trying to protect. Now if they'd been tunnellers creating a less peace destroying route for intercity trains it would have worked. everyone loves a train tunnel. Or perhaps a quarry for building materials to supply the city with solid foundations for modular buildings. It can't be the modern version of that wild west gold mine as that would have been mined out decades ago. It's a horrible celebration of greed. just as the criminal in the new police dog van set with his disused mine entrance is a representation of personal greed despite him having a gold mine and somehow producing rubies from it.... I'm not entirely serious here but the whole mining sub-theme is an oddity and though it has some nice vehicles it also looks terrible. Something for the KFOL's I think. The 'hospital' may be the start of something bigger. perhaps 2013 will yield more medical sets. Not modular perhaps but enough that could be combined to create more of a hospital. there's always a chance that there could be a full modular medical centre. and to be honest a load of white bricks, a load of windows and doors and anyone can have a modern hospital. what people seem to be craving is the interior equipment and accessories. it isn't so much the building but the contents people want. A lot of that could be achieved through smaller sets - nurse/patient/hospital bed/drip stand or patient/surgical gurney/overhead light/heart monitor/anaesthesia monitor. and so on. all the right stuff in sets people can afford.

Interesting. The swamp creature is awesome. Far too soon to be passing judgement really but the pictures show the sets have potential. I think Lego could have just put the monsters out and they'd sell. the addition of monster fighters seems superfluous to me. I'm seeing straight past them to the monsters and brick built structures. I'm guessing this will be a one series shot. These sets a couple of polybags and one of these sets will be exclusive. Probably the swamp creature one everyone will want.

Lego Press information about production in China
Jargo replied to GRogall's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Why would Lego know? the printing is organised by Dorling Kindersley. Lego merely provide the information and pictures. I'm sure they take it on trust from a respected publisher like DK that the production of the books will be above board. Any scepticism and criticism should only be levelled at DK. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

Oh, I just noticed on that calender pic Grogall posted that the Leprechaun's cauldron pot is based on the 'new' medieval bucket. It has bucket handle attachment indents. Shame it's in brown not black. Hopefully a black one will come along in future medieval sets. -
Just some? everything about a building system with specific sized bricks and non-proportionate human characters is off scale. There's no such thing as correct scale with LEGO System. Good job it's a children's toy as children generally have less rigid rules regarding scale and have no problem mixing things up to suit their fantasy de jour.

Don't know if anyone saw the leaked pilot show of the failed live action Wonder Woman tv series. It was dreadful. Superficial and dull. However, they gave WW a normal jet. Obviously tweaked but it didn't really feel too odd with it being visible. I could probably accept a Jet for WW in LEGO that had a colour scheme that might render it invisible in part. Like maybe medium blue. With a large cockpit bubble in trans clear. Possibly even some printing or stickers suggesting the plane is invisible to radar/infra-red. If I'm honest it would just be cool to get a plane for WW rather than have her shoehorned into a Superman set.

Sooooooo, Catwoman's motorbike - Purple or blue? It looks blue in the pic, same as Batman's cowl but I have a horrible feeling it'll be purple. A blue motorbike would be nice though. Love the policeman/security guard in the Twoface set. Can't wait to see Lex Luthor in better pics. I still don't like the Batcave but now I've seen some other sets it's less jarring.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion

In Heraldry, a lion facing forwards is a lion but a side profile is known as a leopard. They hadn't worked out the differences at that stage. But yes, rhinos would make odd crest imagery. -
What minifigs are we missing - post your detailed suggestions here
Jargo replied to CopMike's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yes the series six pyjama/teddy bear guy has it and the series seven tennis player has it in tan. -
There are eight distinct minifig characters. Six minifigs only appear in one set each: The black haired scientist The female The fedora guy The black flying helmet Dino attack-a-like guy The blond guy The unhappy guy with tan pants and torso, black hair and dark red arms. Two minifigs appear in four sets each: The khaki/olive jumpsuit guy with dark red undershirt The flying cap and dark red torso with bandolier and 'D' insignia guy That's a team of fourteen fighting capturing nine Dinosaurs. I'm guessing the grunts are expendable. Trying to cram nine dinosaurs into that compound there's going to be casualties....

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
Jargo replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That character is all over LEGO shop at home. I made a comment about it a couple of days ago in the 'what minifigs are we missing?' thread. And yes it is the same hair. The tennis player dude in series 7 has it in tan. -
LEGO as a company have a keen interest in recycling. All their packaging is recyclable. waste from the factory floor is recycled. Look how minimal the sprues are that come attached to certain parts. They don't have an environmental message they just are environmentally friendly. Aside from producing millions upon millions of plastic pieces. That wasn't my point though. My point was that LEGO wouldn't put out sets pertaining to a recycling theme at the same time as sets pertaining to a destruction and waste theme like logging. It would be counter productive. Mining sub-theme? I don't see that happening. If anything then possibly an add on to the police sets with a bigger gold mine hideout for the criminals. Even that's doubtful. I don't know what's in store for the second half of 2012 and I don't want to know until Spring time. A lot can change in a few months. I prefer more concrete evidence of product line up than rumour. Rumours are more often than not grown from someone's personal wish-list.

LEGO can't really condone logging and push recycling at the same time. Unless they made it the logging of a managed pine plantation and included the planting of saplings. There again LEGO have been stingy with the trees in the forest city sets and it's rare to see the one piece conifer tree these days so I'm guessing that logging is far from the minds of LEGO designers. It would be kinda cool to see one of those mechanical logging machines in Lego form though. The small machines not the factory sized ones.

It's only a texture same as the bricks with vertical and horizontal ridges or the grille tiles. It all adds to the mix and used right helps breaks up the monotony of smooth sided models. It's a detail. They aren't going to replace regular bricks. The sets it's used in have only a small number of the brick included. And if you don't like them in a set there's bound to be loads of people willing to trade for them or just outright buy them. Personally. I'd like to see a building using nothing but these new bricks for the walls. Perhaps in white.

Thanks Grogall. You da man! I really appreciate you taking the time and making the effort to do this.

Technically it's still illegal in countries where copyright law applies. However if it's for personal use and the copies are never sold or given away then it's not going to attract attention from the company. To be honest the copyright notice on the sticker sheet should tell you that it's protected property, but like I say, if it's just for you alone then I wouldn't worry.

I'm not liking the Batcave at all. It seems a bit junior. I mean I know it's aimed at kids primarily but it does nothing for me and I know this because the only part of the entire set that caught my attention was the Batphone. *sigh* I'll wait and see what the other sets are like before making a proper judgement though. If nothing else some of the figs are cool. I'll definitely be getting Superman. Possibly Hulk depending on his face design.

I have two uses for the dinosaurs in mind. I think I already mentioned elsewhere the natural history museum exhibit idea but I also want CMF alien greys rampaging through my city mounted on them. Going to find a way to attach some kind of saddle and reins. and guns. head mounted lasers and side mounted particle disruptor cannons. Only thing I can't decide on is whether to go for the green or brown versions of the dinosaurs. I think it looks weird with them mixed so it's got to be one or the other. At the moment I'm leaning towards brown. Aliens riding armed dinosaurs will be so cool though.
