LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion
Jargo replied to whung's topic in Special LEGO Themes
No the image of red is too big. Considering she has short legs she looks the same size as regular minifigs in the composite. Hence her face is too big. Also, I love that the computer nerd seems to have sticky tape holding his glasses together in the centre. -
Grogall, I could kiss you right now. Thank you so much dude.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

Maybe it isn't supposed to be a kid and is instead a hospital patient? Or just a dude who hasn't grown up? If he comes with regular legs I'm getting a few for patients and the teddy bears can be toyshop shelf filler. I'm only getting the city figs and possibly the alien and lady liberty. -

Indeed it is. The Belville Teddy bear is enormous and ugly and has arms at right angles to the body. This one is tiny and so fantastic I want to army build them. -
Thank you to everyone posting links. Really good of you to share your finds with those of us not so quick off the mark. Im crying right now as I have the tiniest budget imaginable but want all of the city sets. I'm really going to have to prioritise and have a vote off to see which sets I'll end up buying.

A lot of kids hero worship their parents and having more trades represented would be good for City. Mundane or not. As a child, to be able to role play your parents is important. stuff Like Doctors and teachers and shopkeepers, glaziers and plumbers and electricians. Heck a car production plant would make an excellent boys set. Emergency services might be the bread and butter but there needs to be a good filling in between.

What minifigs are we missing - post your detailed suggestions here
Jargo replied to CopMike's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This guy. From the restyled www.lego.com website. He has to have the same hair, the headset, the carrier bag as a moulded accessory not a printed or stickered brick built thing and have the exact torso print with the Lego logo printed on the back. He's just the most awesome minifig ever created. EVER! Lego need to release him as a CMF.  -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
Jargo replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh golly, a new fad. Clique voting. This is as sad as *insert country name*'s got talent. I suppose this also means forums clogged with 'vote for me' threads. I'm all for Lego finding a way to replace the Legends line but this is just *very rude phrase*. -
Just the one. 7897 passenger train with an extra carriage. I'd like to add 7938 with extra carriages but as much as I love trains I just don't have room for them so I can only have a very simple and basic layout winding it's way through my small city.

I think for all the sparring on the issue, the fact that anyone can make bricks is fine. choose the brand you like and buy or don't buy. However, the minifig IS Lego's baby. I think they deserve to keep the rights to the design in perpetuity. Brick shapes come and go and are copied and altered but the minifig is as iconic as the Lego logo. I don't really care if other companies produce brick sets. They're usually vastly inferior designs and fine for the budget marketplace. I'm fine with custom items produced by enterprising individuals that fill little gaps in the Lego brick pantheon and compliment Lego. The minifig is sacred though. when you look at all the mods and mocs that are spread across the internet and at conventions and when Lego is in the media, the Lego minifig is there reigning supreme. It's instantly recognisable as the logo is. No-one should have the right to dilute such an icon. Lego has to win the battle to maintain status of the minifig as the best in he world. Banbao must be forced to alter their design.

In the base set the small Dino has a different tail to the Coelophysis. It kinda looks like it's just upside down but really scrutinising you can see it's more curvaceous. Also the legs don't appear to be hollow. I'm guessing it's either a one piece Dino or it's a stand in for the Coelophysis. Possibly a small prototype sculpt of the Coelophysis. Who knows what stage of development the photos were taken at.

I started a topic discussing this here. Loads of ideas but not the funds or know how. Megabloks did a piece that's supposed to be a sort of forest fern. their palm tree was rubbish but the fern is passable. Other clone/bootleg brands just haven't made anything halfway decent and I haven't found any custom foliage anywhere.

New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive
Jargo replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Firstly, thank you I Scream Clone for the picturegasm that the first post was. This is an awesome set and by hook or by crook I'll find a way to own it even if it is outside my budget range. secondly 10223_back_015.jpg isn't showing for me. Is that the same for other people? -
Spot on. Isn't it a shame Lego doors open outwards though? As a variation some houses of this style have a small bay window above the door. and you'll also find some with corner bays or just corner windows either glazed both sides of the corner or cut across the diagonal. streets tend to be laid out with semi-detached in matching pairs but each pair will be slightly different to their neighbours. It allowed owners of the houses to feel individual in what could feel like a sea of such houses amid the suburban boom period.

O RLY? Try this on fer size. comparison using leaked pics. Thats some mighty thick plates you're comparin' to there pardner. Looks about a brick height difference to my eyes.
-
the figs themselves are about a brick height taller than a normal minifig. on account of the longer legs. Personally I think the head is larger than a minifig head and all the hairpieces are newly created for this theme.

I've recently got into researching local history. Fascinating stuff. The rise and rise and fall of Birkenhead on the Wirral peninsula. Tall ships, iron ships, trains, trams, ferries, famous gentlefolk, fabulous architecture and amazing entertainment. All destroyed by petty minded, deceitful, greedy councillors and town planners. It's a litany of woes. From the 1700's onwards. It's nothing short of a miracle that us Birkonians are still here to tell the tales. I'm not really proud to be British. I think on the whole Britain has been mismanaged for centuries. I'm quite protective of my home town though. If time travel were possible I'd go back to 1900 and enjoy the glory days before 'progress' screwed everything up.

AFOL = aff-OLL MOC = mOCK Vignette = Vin-YET Bionicle = bY-onnICK-Ull Lego = Leg-Oh Ninjago = Nin-Ja-Goh

I love the hull on this one. Much better than the previous ships. Might have to indulge myself and buy the set just for the hull.
-
I like the female torso and printed slope. I wouldn't buy the set though. Just seen one on bricklink going for $30.00. outrageous.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
Jargo replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Matt smith is filming the xmas episode and is contracted for series 7 due to begin filming next march. that pretty much gives the game away. however, that isn't to say a doctor won't die.... -
Hmm, my 4642 fishing boat arrived this morning with three of this new piece. I'm not impressed. Back to the drawing board please Lego. I can't modify with a Dremel as there's not enough plastic at the back of the neck attachment. I must just say I'm not against the idea of part replacement with contemporary design but only if it's an improvement.
-
That is quite an ugly piece. Very sloppy design. I've just bought 30015 online from a british seller. If I get these I'll either replace them with the old lifesaver or take a Dremel mini tool to the neck attachment.
-
I like the shape of the Spartan design and the colours of the Persian design. If the Persian designer did some modification and closed the sarcophagus up and removed the grey relief from the lid I think I'd like that one the most.

Ebay purchases: 4642 Fishing boat £13.99 + £1.75 P&P 7287 Police boat £17.49 + £2.99 P&P Not particularly because of what they are but because of what the boats will become.
