  1. ok, nothing crazy like a 4wheeled bunny, nothing like willys, defender or G, no midnight pumpkin or vanessas lunchbox. we will see many suv and other boring things with big spoilers, cow bars and exhaust pipes. not many possibilitys with this scrappy high chassis
  2. there is no need to build your full chassis because it will not work like you want. i have made many errors like this and i think i can see if something will work or not. you have said you want a axle which can do this and you have build a axle which can do this are you satisfied?
  3. here are your rear axle which i can see in the pictures 101_9773 von efferman auf Flickr 101_9775 von efferman auf Flickr not really flexible
  4. Yes, a solid axle is not an suspension type, because it is only the housing for the halfshafts, which connects the differential with the wheel. when someone begin with unneeded details, before the opposite knows the basic things, the opposite will understand nothing. so i keep it simple. so i think solid axle is a good description for a axle which is connected solid to the frame. and by the way, why everyone says "live axle or floating axle" when it is a suspension type? could it be, that it is much to complex to say "beam axle with multilink connection to the frame "?
  5. oh my goodness, the worst possibillity of all is happened. now waiting for the rules
  6. if this is your actual standing i must you say that this will not work. if you dont have the parts i will build the rear axle tomorrow and will you show it.
  7. a good hint: build with real parts to learn how the parts fit together, before you build a complex model. ldd is very static and let you build a five miles long bridge without a support between the ends.
  8. some questions i ask me during building a moc: 1.)what may it be? = a six wheeled vehicle, six wheels driven, offroad capable, remote controlled = check 2.)which tires will i use? = .......... = insufficient informations 3.)which size will it have? = answer of question two is needed = insufficient informations 4.)how complex will it be? = rear axles, fully pendular/live axle, load balanced, live front axle spring loaded. = check 5.)how can i reach the goal of question 4? = answer of question three is needed = insufficient informations. do you know what i want say to you? edit: look which tires do you have, then search for inspirations at google/bing Picture search, then search for blueprints like this now resize the picture to the same scale of the tires and you will have the size of your vehicle and then build it
  9. ok then i have to choose a Picture with more parts on it 100_9097 von efferman auf Flickr do you want a axle which can do this? edit: which tires do you want to use?
  10. the picture in my post above ist two sizes bigger and is made for springs. and no, you have made somthing similar like this size and not made for springs hinterachse von efferman auf Flickr instruction002 von efferman auf Flickr instruction015 von efferman auf Flickr with one difference, your suspension will not work
  11. ok solid axle= fully fixated on the frame and no moving up and down is possible 100_9585 von efferman auf Flickr pendular= the center ofthe axle is fixated on the chassis. if the left tire goes up, the right tire will go down live axle = most complex, but best solution for offroad. every direction is possible, except forward and to side 101_9361 von efferman auf Flickr 100_8837 von efferman auf Flickr edit: what you want is a live axle chassis with this rear axle setup 100_9049 von efferman auf Flickr
  12. the steering system is really really unique beside of the conflict with the suspension, maybe it works with a servo, but with a XL...... well i dont think that this will work. your suspension, what is your goal with it? pendular, live axle or solid? in case of life axle your wheelbase between first and second axle is to short. and where is the connection point between universal joints and gearbox?
  13. i think there is no need for any change. the tires of the real willys are nearly at the same position like your version picture source and i had choosed the same position like you
  14. please note that i love the black colour, but to show details it is less good. maybe you should use light grey or similar textures. becaues i see only a big shadow, iam not able to see if it is good or bad.
  15. could it be that the challenge is using a ldd file of the 9398 chassis to build a body for it? in case of this there would it be no need to own a 9398 to participate on the challenge.
  16. 1.) keep the chassis so simple as possible 2.)a lego crawler dont needs much suspension travel. you should concentrate yourself on the torsion ability. 3.) your wheelbase and trackwidth is much to large. the dimensions of 9398 is a good when the center of gravity is low enough.
  17. i like you rear axle design, simple but effektive
  18. maybe no heagglund, but one kaegglund was made by me i think you dont need to drive both ends of the tracks on the front parts. the front end of the tracks is enough. or is this only an failure in my optical systems?
  19. much better, now the tendence to roll over the side should be minimized
  20. Seems to work, but how long? Has anyone expierences in a long time use of these part under stress?
  21. why not mount the batterybox like this 101_9757 von efferman auf Flickr 101_9759 von efferman auf Flickr testing with the animation consol works only to look if anything is able to collide with moving parts. but driving around on uneven surfaces are something completely different. in your case a swingarm suspension like tatra works under load completely different than with the simulation of a program. a tatra suspension looks really simple, but i think it is very hard to make it good working without sideway rollovers can you please share the ldd file with us?
  22. one shock absorber should be enough, because a soft suspension works much better than a hard one. but i think your center of gravity is to high in proportion to the actual trackwith. it will easily roll over the side. and are you sure that your steering system will work?
  23. power pullers are the biggest tires from lego. it has it reasons why iam using sometimes third party tires. but for the contest this is not an option 100_9547 von efferman auf Flickr so you must live with this limitation for the contest
