Why are we all still taking damage from *Burning -1* if that weather only occurred in Round 7?

Thanks for the gold, I was going to wait and just have you add it to the battle loot. You will need to add 10 more to it though, because I think Matthias killed Wermheim in round Six... critical hit is 2*WP+L, so (10*2 + 36)= 56 because Matthias has a 10 point power boost. For Wermheim, 56*2*2 = 224 (darkness and electric v. aquatic humanoid), so he's dead, then for the Owner 56*2/2 = 56 (darkness v. humanoid but the owner still has 1 buddy standing), then for Natnail 56*2 = 102, leaving only the owner alive... so in Round Seven, everyone should have targetted Owner, which doesn't change anything because the only hits we made were AoE. Matthias turns a grim smile to the barman as he loads up his cannon one more time. "You should have taken the deal." Battle Order > Matthias: Extraordinaire vs. Owner > Darksten: Bow v. Owner Throlar: Axe v. Owner No point in melee from the back row when he's blinded with a no-damage Special Cedric: Katana v. Owner Or does nothing, see comment on Throlar Soiliman: Spear v. Owner Parvati: Fire Spell v. Owner

I thought I remembered something about that. Thanks. And for the bar owner, he should have at least lost the 13 health he was hit for hahaha.

"Sure - make it a little less ridiculous - I've never seen a sandstorm inside a bar before!" Matthias repeats. Someone remind me again - if Natnail is blinded, and his Special is a physical attack, shouldn't he have done 0 damage to Soliman? Matthias calls out to the winged warrior, "Alright, everyone stay back from now on - don't get in close where they can grab you!" Battle Order > Matthias: Extraordinaire v. Wermheim > Darksten: Potion v. Darksten > Parvati: Forecast (Hot) > Throlar: Fire bomb > Cedric: Wait (Matthias will take the free hit from the owner, which will only buff Natnail, which won't matter (if needed Matthias will throw his 99 bomb next round)) > Soliman: Spear v. Natnail If we had managed to roll something other than SD last round we could auto-roll but not now. Why was Parvati's damage cut in half? She was casting a spell (as evidenced by the -1 ether), so being in the back row doesn't matter, and the Owner has no defense. Also, if he took 13 damage, how come he didn't lose any health? He should have 216 (I think).

I knew I was forgetting something - I forgot he uses his special on free hits. Thanks Zeph! Matthias grins as he reloads. "Barman, say my friends and I are welcome to come and go as we please and we'll end this now and help you clean it up." To accentuate his point, the gnome takes aim at Wermheim again. Battle Order > Darksten: Bow v. Natnail Soliman: Spear v. Natnail > Matthias: Extraordinaire v. Wermheim > Throlar: Bow v. Wermheim > Parvati: Spell (Earth) v. Owner > Cedric: Katana v. Owner

I believe Andy and Bernard are dead after Matthias' turn because his damage is both Darkness (effective v. Humanoid) and Lightning (effective v. Aquatic) so the calculation is (10+10+26)*2*2 = 184 damage each (Andy and Bernard only had 156 to start with, so they're dead). Taking Throlar's damage into account, Wermheim has 256-191 = 65 health remaining. That also means that Parvati should have targeted Natnail, resulting in Special Damage of Natnail being encouraged, instead of Wermheim buffing himself on Andy's special damage, and that Off-Duty Guard Donald is less powerful because his buddies are down. "Nice moves, everyone," Matthias calls out as two of his targets go down hard; he fires at the only sailor standing. "Keep the pressure on!" Battle Order with suggested tactics >Darksten: Bow v. Natnail Soliman: Spear v. Donald (dual striking) >Matthias: Extraordinaire v. Drunken Sailor Wermheim [next targets Natnail, Donald] >Throlar: Bow v. Drunken Sailor Wermheim [next targets Natnail, Donald] >Parvati v. Drunken Sailor Wermheim [next targets Natnail, Donald] >Cedric: Katana v. Rat's Behind Owner No one is under any obligation to follow the plan, that's just what I came up with. Strategy Discussion: This battle is pretty much over; keeping the Owner from using his Special helps us get it over quicker so I almost didn't even have Cedric target him (Sentinel protects from free hits, right?). Anyway, pretty much on auto-roll from here.

"Gentlemen, you're both wrong," Matthias says drolly but with an unmistakable gleam in his eyes, "but Throlar, that barman is as good a target as any for our new knight, and Cedric, any opponent could doom us all. Just keep your wits about you and let's finish this off. We were supposed to be helping Master Soliman and Lady Parvati navigate the city and avoid stupid fights like this, remember?" As the thrill of battle begins to work its way into Matthias' veins, the gnome grins mischievously. "I'll take the sailor boys - a little dark lightning from the Extraordinaire won't hurt a bit. Lady Parvati can help with Sailor Andy and Master Cedric can have his barman. Master Soliman, you get to take on the city wach - and all of you, no need to wade into the thick of things, I do hope you'll stay back and work." The gnome glances at Soliman again. "Except you big guy, get in there and give 'em some wind." Battle Order with suggested targets and tactics (">" means fight from the back row) > Cedric - Katana vs. Rat's Behind Owner > Throlar - Bow vs. Drunken Sailor Werheim > Darksten - Bow vs. Natnail Soliman - Spear vs. Off-Duty Guard Donald (Dual Strike) [next targets: Natnail, Owner] > Matthias - Fireball vs. Drunken Sailor Bernard > Parvati - Spell(Earth) vs. Drunken Sailor Andy [next targets: Natnail, Owner] Strategy Discussion: Matthias' cannon can take out the first two sailors and almost kill the third on a critical hit; if Throlar damages Werheim enough then a hit or critical hit from Matthias will kill him. Cedric won't do much damage but he increases our chance to avoid that (not at all world-ending, by Zepher standards) special on the Owner. Fighting from the back means he'll survive several hits from the Owner instead of dying on the second one. Darksten, Soliman, and Parvati don't have immediately visible niches for this fight, but they are all high damage and high (enough) health (for these enemies) so they may as well just divide the final opponents between them. And after this battle, Darksten needs to give Parvati that Pongcanis crossbow, which will make her spells more powerful.

"He just seems to be in every bar I go to...." Matthias rolls his eyes at the knight, though between his diminutive height and the brim of his hat it would be a miracle if anyone noticed. "Hush, man! Have you never been in a bar before?" he whispers at Cedric. Matthias wonders what he's gotten into with the current party. Has everyone lost their minds? First thing we do in a bar is draw swords and knock arrows, and in the Hovels no less. Taking a gamble on his own small size and hoping the others can hold their own without starting too much of a fight, Matthias attempts to duck to the back of the room, wanting a good look at the commotion and hopefully to find whoever knew about Medusa.

Matthias nods. "I'm pretty sure I met him, in Etheria. If he is the one I met, he is not a demon - immortal, yes, but so are others." As the group departs for the Rats Behind, Matthias has a terrible thought. "The bartender's name isn't Justin, is it? Pale guy, weasley..." He trails off, hoping against hope it's a different bar.

The gnome gives a little tip of his outrageously tall hat. Laughing quietly to himself, Matthias wonders how Parvati will handle a handshake. "I was ignorant then and I am ignorant now, Solimon, Parvati. Tell me, what, precisely, is the Court of Demons?"

"I'm not entirely certain I've found it," the gnome responds, playful words not hiding the truth they hold. "I suggest we meet up with Parvati. Why the need for extra muscle? The two of you didn't seem that helpless in Baltarok," Matthias adds. Matthias nods agreement with Darksten's insightful questions and scans the room to get a good sense of the 'clubhouse' before they depart.

Hand on the door knob, Matthias rounds on the new Hero and erupts. "We are not mercenaries, kiddo. And all of us are professionals, except you. You will not speak to Master Throlar, or myself, or anyone else like that again. Got it?" Without waiting for an answer, the gnome turns back to the door, pushes it open, and strolls in, expecting the others to follow. wiz, don't be that guy.

Matthias, walking warily, gives a start as he realizes he should have answered that question. Sorry all, I have notifications turned on but I didn't get anything until Darksten's post! Matthias scowls back comically, sticking his tongue out at the guard. "Oh? I only see the one." Matthias raises his eyebrows, grins cheekily, and thrusts the crossbow into Darksten's outstretched hands with a wink. "Enjoy!" Taking stock of the newcomer, Matthias nods approvingly at the knight's stout footwear. "You'll be Master Cedric, then? Welcome to Heroica." "Not to keep you and me out, Master guardsman," the gnome says grimly, "but to keep 'undesirables' in." The others can hear the quote marks in Matthias voice. It takes a moment, but recognition dawns on the tiny immortal's face, then distaste at the shared memory. "Yes, it was Private Bert then but you appear to be quite in charge now! Congratulations! And this trip together should be much less deadly than our last - let's head in."

Matthias sidles up from the direction of Guffington's Manor and nods to the two guards, Darksten, and Throlar, recognizing the other Heroes from the Hall. "Our employer is our own business, I'm sure," he remarks to the inquisitive guardsperson. Where is this Cedric? the gnome wonders to himself, chuckling slightly at the thought of meeting a green hero. Sizing the other two Heroes up more closely, Matthias hands Throlar his Pongcanis Crossbow. "Here, now you have a ranged back-up weapon. Keep it, no charge."
