Hopefully the pictures and videos tomorrow will showcase the modular elements of Echo Base.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
wesker replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Definitely Lego's version. The printing is better, the lekku looks more natural and it doesn't have the molded hips which looks odd and un-Lego-like to me. -
Yeah there's two different types in the set. The white uniformed Rebels from the Advent Calender are supposed to be the infantry fighting outside in the trenches. The ones with the tan vests are supposed to be the officers working inside Echo Base.

Fantastic idea! I'd actually like to see more alien battlepacks in general. Cantina themed, Jabba's Palace, Mos Espa, Maz's Castle etc. Could get a lot of really cool aliens and characters that way.

Pretty much what I was expecting from the video. Its intended to be the ultimate Hoth set but still feels incomplete and missing a few things like the Med Bay. And there's no excuse at all for excluding Princess Leia. On the bright side I'm glad we finally have an ion cannon and shield generator though and wasn't expecting the Tauntaun pen behind the crane. Didn't realize the Wampa Cave was also attached to the side of the control room. Hopefully the interior pieces can also be removed from the main gate as it would really make it easier to expand the inside of Echo Base.
-
I'm positive it will include a Tauntaun. The video on Lego's website gave a pretty good idea what the remaining figures are. Just to recap: Confirmed Hoth Luke Hoth Han Toryn Farr Wes Janson Wedge Antilles Wampa Seen in video Hoth Rebel Officer Hoth Rebel Trooper Major Derlin R3-A2 Snowtrooper Tauntaun That still leaves out Hoth Leia, Bacta Tank Luke, 2-1B, R-3PO, Zev Senesca and General Rieekan though.
-
Sounds like a perfect idea to me. I'd love to see it happen!
-
Wedge Antilles is a nice surprise. Hopefully his head will have an alternative face print without the helmet visor. I also like the sound of the base having a modular design. It didn't look like it in the video but hopefully the delay did involve improving the design of the set. Still disapointed there's no Hoth Leia though, especially with Han being included in both Hoth sets this year. Would have been nice to get her with leg printing and the 2015 face.

Its a shame about the podracer would've been a nice opportunity to fill out some missing TPM characters.

But this is exactly why many of the Gondor themed projects are doomed to fail. You're only focusing on one aspect - the soldiers. Again its important to remember not every LOTR fan is looking to collect nameless soldiers. Some fans want the actual characters from the story. Others want a display piece of their favourite scene or location. Others just want a good toy to build and play with. Yes there's an audience for army building but like Star Wars it does NOT represent the majority of the fanbase. People are drawn for different reasons and failing to recognising that is the first sign of failure. For a Gondor themed project to succeed it needs to appeal to everybody and not just a niche audience.

I don't suppose anyone noticed that part of the wall is hinged and we're looking at the interior of Unkar's junkshop? Knowing that it doesn't seem that bad at all. We just need to wait and see what the exterior looks like.

My issue with a lot of Osgiliath projects is the focus is solely on the Gondor Soldiers rather than the actual set. Its important to understand that there are a lot of LOTR fans who aren't interested in building an army of generic soldiers and are drawn more to the story, the characters and iconic locations. The set design must always come first. Another suggestion is to also look at other options for Gondor-themed sets besides Osgiliath. Castle's Fantasy Era was bascially unlicensed LOTR sets with orc-like trolls and Gondor-ish solders. Maybe that could be a good source of inspiration? I'm surprised there haven't been many attempts at the Citadel and White Tower atop Minas Tirith either. Going back to my previous post, I do think there are a few smaller sets with plenty of potential. ByCougar's project is off to a promising start with the Gate of Minas Tirith and I look forward to what siege weaponry he will add to help enhance the set even more. To give a bit more advice - maybe try replacing the end walls with a hexagonal turret (see the corners of 7946 and 70404) It would make it easier to include a catapault on top and add a bit more variety to the design. Still it would be nice to see everyone give it some support. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/130964 I'm also rather fond of Edoras as it reminds me a lot of NujuMetru's former project only tidier in design and play friendly. Again maybe the small size might put some off but it seems to fall in the right price range for an Ideas set. Another one that could use the support. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/130958 For the Balrog - I highly recommend BeardedNerdSE uploads his creation to LEGO Ideas. Its definitely one of the best designs and I think actually having it build with real bricks as opposed to being a digital creation will go a long way in gaining the support. My one suggestion is that if it does go up on Ideas its probably best to take some new photos against a white background to help put a clearer focus on the model. http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=119984 For Osgiliath - my favourite design would have to be Legoboy9247's project. Its still a bit high on the piece count and could be scaled back but it works well as a display piece and the Nazgul on Fell Beast is a nice touch. Unfortunately the project only has 113 days remaining and no where near enough supporters, but hopefully it should provide plenty of inspiration for anyone looking to design their own. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/104210 Disco86 also had some nice ideas with his project and its modular design. My only criticism is that it looks a bit fragile compared to Legoboy9247's and could use a bit more colour. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/84994 I think it would be good to see everyone throw some ideas around, come up with some creative designs and really campaign to push certain projects. Even if they don't get approved just showing there's still a strong interest in Middle Earth is better than complaining here how disapointed we are the line ended too soon.

Unkar's headpiece looks great. I didn't care much for the character in the movie either but I am glad we're getting a minifigure of him. Also looking forward to the new AT-ST. Its been too long since the last one.

Nah I'm happy with the route they took by releasing a regular line up of sets. We had a lot more characters and settings covered than if we had only gotten one CMF and D2C per year. Not to mention there would be no molded creatures like Smaug and the Cave Troll. I think the main issue with the line was the questionable choices made in the second LOTR wave and the lack of a third to finish it all off. Same here. Dimensions would've been the perfect opportunity to get Sauron and Witch-King minifigures out there. Would have loved to have gotten Eowyn and Faramir as well. That said I have found a new Gondor themed project on Ideas for anyone interested. I think the Gates of Minas Tirith is probably a smarter choice than Osgiliath and the design reminds me a lot of Nuju Metru's. Although I think they might have been better losing the end walls in place of Grond or a Siege Tower to add a bit more playability. Still might be worth checking out. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/130964 There's also a new Edoras project up, although Rohan doesn't seem to be as popular as Gondor around these parts and the size might be too small for some who prefer something more UCS in scale. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/130958 The Orc Pit has also gone up another 200 in the past couple days. Hopefully it can maintain its momentum. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/128929 Shame the Balrog projects never seem to do too well. Rakrondewl's was probably the nicest looking and even that only got 326 supporters.

Ghostbusters (Reboot) 2016 sets rumors and discussion
wesker replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
No interest in the set or the movie but it does have some nice new parts in it. The tan Superman hair will be a useful alternative for Cap, the new bun is perfect for Princess Leia at the end of ESB and its great to finally have a generic black female head. The demonic skeleton looks pretty cool too. -
A CMF wave is a bit too much to hope for even when the line was alive and well. It would be nice to get one last D2C set though or at least something through Ideas. All we can really do now is support what projects we can and show there is still some interest left in the theme.

Glad we're finally getting Ra's Al Ghul (and hopefully Talia too). Can't believe its taken them this long to appear in a set.

Anyone seen the UCS Orc Pit on Lego Ideas? Its only been up for about two weeks and is already close to hitting 2000 supporters. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/128929 While there's no way its going to pass review based on the size alone, its still always nice to see there's still a lot of people out there supporting Middle Earth.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

I wouldn't mind if they did skip Zemo and saved him for the next round of Avengers Assemble sets. -
The plain Phase 1's and the 501st are also the only clone battlepacks I have any interest in. Although I'm more interested in battlepacks for clean OT Stormtroopers, Rebel Fleet Troopers, Tuskens, Jawas, Ewoks, Gungans, Mandalorians, Nightsisters, Naboo Soldiers or a random mix of generic aliens over more clones.

Endor could be a prologue level like Geonosis was for the Clone Wars game.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Video Game Discussion
wesker replied to npgcole's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
I think there's a good chance the exclusive content will be based on canon books. Some members are already speculating that the minifigures in the upcoming "Adventures" sets are based on ones from recent novels.- 201 replies

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
wesker replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
I second that request. Hopefully the rumours about Hawkeye appearing in a polybag are true. Agent 13 looks very Black Widow-like in those new pics. Glad we're getting her, but its a shame she doesn't use the blonde version of her hairpiece. Would look a lot more accurate than the ginger one.
