A mixed Naboo/Gungan battlepack sounds like an excellent idea! I'd love to see it happen!

Dissapointing news for Australians - the Landspeeder, A-Wing, Phantom and Desert Skiff won't be coming to retailers here. It really makes me wonder how much of the Summer wave we're actually going to see or if the Episode 8 wave is the best we can hope for.

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

Just a heads up - the A-Wing, Phantom, Landspeeder and Desert Skiff will NOT be coming to Australian stores. Only Yoda's Interceptor and Duel on Naboo will be released at retail this month. -
I don't have a problem with the Rathtar being brickbuilt. Lego has done a fantastic job on other creatures such as Shelob in the past. Great to hear they're not holding back on the number of Guavians either. Can't wait to see what the actual build of the Eravana interior is like. Definitely! There's so much potential with other Character Packs they could go with based on the Jedi, Jabba's Palace and Mos Eisley Cantina. Hopefully the Bounty Hunter set will be a big enough success to warrant more.

I think for a Star Wars CMF line to work it really needs to be a mixed selection of characters from across the saga. Giving each movie their own line isn't going to work for a number of reasons - it limits the options of what Lego can include in the actual sets, there aren't enough CMF waves each year to keep up with the number of films and in some cases such as ESB we're already scraping at the bottom of the barrel in terms of new minifigures. Main characters should also be unique enough that they wouldn't otherwise appear in sets. There's no point including Bespin costumes when they could potentially appear in a future Cloud City set. Instead something like a MacQuarrie concept Darth Vader, Holiday Special Boba Fett, Luke and Leia based off the 1977 Star Wars poster or Queen Amidala's blink-and-you-miss costumes would be better. I find the options for this poll a bit redundant since most characters have been previously released in sets, but I do like the idea of having a poll just for unreleased characters alone (not limited to CMFs either) to get a better idea of what the community wants. Rebelscum has an annual fan wishlist poll each year which has proven to be a great form of customer feedback for Hasbro. Maybe Eurobricks should give it a try?

New head molds for alien species such as the Quarren, Aqualish, Gotal and Kaminoans would be amazing. A proper padawan hairpiece for Obi-Wan and Anakin is also 18 years overdue. Given that every other major character has had a unique hair mold made specifically for them it amazes me this one still hasn't been done yet. Another useful hairpiece I'd like to see is the twin looped braids that both Depa Billaba and Cloud City Leia wear. I'm pretty happy with the blasters we have although I wouldn't mind a proper silver pistol for Jango Fett and Queen Amidala rather than the fire nozzel piece.

Thats a nice alternate build using parts of the Flash Speeder but not really an accurate representation of the Gian Speeder. An official set would be better, especially if it also comes with new Naboo themed characters that haven't been done yet. Absolutely! I think we'll see one eventually given that Lego has been releasing location-based sets a lot more frequently than they used to. A system scale version of the mini SDCC set would be great - something thats almost a cross between the original Yoda's Hut and 79002 Attack of the Wargs from the Hobbit line.
-
The Episode 2 Starfighter is my preference but the Utapau Interceptor would be welcome too. Either way I just hope it can deliver on some new characters. Still waiting on Commander Cody, Tion Meddon and the Kaminoans.
-
Its too soon for another Flash Speeder but I would love to see a Gian Speeder in the near future. Its never been done before and we're long overdue for Theed Battle Padme and Boss Nass minifigures. I'd also love to see the Naboo Security Forces completed with the addition of the Naboo Royal Guard (the ones wearing the red uniform with the metalic helmets)

I'm definitely in favour of more Character Packs instead of Battlepacks. Jedi in particular would be great since it means we can finally get Ki-Adi-Mundi, Shaak Ti, Even Piell and Eeth Koth updated without the anime faces, as well as other Jedi who haven't been released yet such as Adi Gallia, Depa Billaba, Yarael Poof etc. Jabba's Palace, Mos Espa and the Mos Eisley Cantina are some other good themes they could use. And off course more Bounty Hunters! A flesh coloured Zam Wesell and non-anime Aurra Sing would be more than welcome along with new characters like Highsinger, Bazine Netal and Sidon Ithano.

I'm glad the Snowspeeder has been removed. Gives me hope that a second UCS set next year will be something fresh.

Palpatine is definitely included in the set. He may also be appearing in one of the Freemaker sets as well.

Small bump for our slowly expanding roster - in addition to the Wicked Witch and Toto Dog we now have the Flying Monkeys to look forward to in the new Lego Batman Movie sets! The number of useful new molds has also been building up with the addition of Alice in Wonderland's skirt for Dorothy and the Penguin's new top hat for the Wizard. I'm also hoping they do something for the anniversary. If not a series of sets then at least one D2C based on the Emerald City and a CMF line to tie in with it.

The Republic Tank looks amazing! I think they've definitely captured the shape and sleekness better than the original - especially at the front which looks less bumpy this time. I also don't mind them downsizing the scale as I thought the previous release was a bit too big compared to the Battlefront games, not to mention its an affordable way to obtain Aayla Secura. But again - still disapointed we seem to be getting a generic Clone Trooper instead of Commander Bly (and lack of new classic characters in general for 2017) Darth Vader's Transformation looks pretty good too. A little disapointed by the lack of walls but I love the look of the circular platform and the FX Medical Droid is fantastic! Also good to see we may indeed be getting 2-1B after all. At the price range the Jedi Starfighter is going for, I hope it comes with more than just Obi-Wan, R4's head and young Boba. Those Kaminoans are long overdue! The first post mentions we'll be getting four minifigures in the set - Han, Chewie and two others that are potentially Guavians, although I'm hoping at least one of them will be Bala-Tik since this will be our only chance to get him. Rey, Finn and BB-8 will be coming in the Quadjumper set.

The problem with updating the Clone Wars Ahsoka figures using the non-anime Rebels head is that the skin tones don't match. The older ones have bright orange skin while the latest figure uses dark orange. Her facial markings are also redesigned so that while they may be accurate to Rebels, they don't entirely fit the younger Clone Wars version.

For the Republic Tank? The leaked image just shows a generic Phase 1 Clone Trooper. No Commander Bly unfortunately.

What are your favorite LEGO Star Wars sets from 2016?
wesker replied to jdm44's topic in LEGO Star Wars
FBTB is always overly bitter and negative about everything though. I'm surprised the site is even still around considering the majority of their userbase migrated to Eurobricks and Brickset a long time ago and they haven't been a relevant source for anything related to Lego Star Wars in over a decade now. -
I hope its not Boba since he's already available in the Desert Skiff and Carbon Freeze Chamber. That and 2017 is already shaping up to be a VERY underwelming year in terms of brand new Star Wars characters. It would be nice to at least get one new bounty hunter included that hasn't been done before. Glad to hear the new Death Star Trooper will be available outside of 75159. It makes it easier for those of us who want to update the figures from the original Death Star without having to buy the new one. Hopefully Leia and Tarkin will show up in more affordable alternatives down the road.

I couldn't agree more. Its depressing knowing so many potential OT/PT/CW/Rebels sets are being wasted in favour of this rubbish - especially when the number of sets are limited as it is with the new movies coming out each year. Even worse is that none of the Freemaker/Yoda Chronicles sets ever sell. They're always clogging the shelves even on clearance. Why they keep forcing them out is beyond me. I'd love to finally see her in a cheap set. Unfortunately it doesn't look like an OT version will be showing up at all next year unless its a UCS set. Very dissapointing. Hopefully an Episode 8 version will at least be included in the first wave of sets next year and not held off until 2018.
-
Another remake would be horrible! I know some people want another UCS Millennium Falcon but its too soon to be bringing one out straight after the Death Star, Hoth and Snowspeeder. Thats too many remakes at once!
-
Its hard to make out the details of the Darth Vader Transformation set but I like what I see so far. It looks to be a nice size and has an interesting shape. Surprised they didn't include a 2-1B Medical Droid. The Republic Tank also looks pretty good. Glad we're getting a movie Aayla Secura but I'm disapointed we seem to be getting a generic Clone Trooper instead of Commander Bly. 2017 is definitely turning out to be a disapointing year in terms of new characters from the OT/PT movies. The Freemaker sets are an improvement over this years selection but they still feel like a wasted product to me. They never sell and there's so much more they could be making from the 8 movies, Rebels and Clone Wars instead.

The most disapointing aspect for me is the lack of interior. For a UCS at that price point this should have been the definitive Echo Base set but instead it feels like an afterthought. Especially compared to the 2011 Hoth set that was exclusive to Toys R Us. There's no reason why the size and details of that base couldn't have been incorperated into the side wings of the main gate. Thankfully its Lego so it can easily be modified but it still feels like a missed opportunity. The unfinished backsides and lack of Princess Leia are also sore points. Yes its nice to have Toryn Farr but that shouldn't come at the expense of the movie's lead heroine. There's no reason why two female characters couldn't have been included. I do think the hate for this set has been overblown though. For anyone who doesn't own any Hoth sets this is still a good starting point. And there's nothing more irritating than constantly hearing the set called "Insult on Hoth" over and over. Coming from adult fans it just sounds incredibly childish.
-
I'm fine with another Millennium Falcon but I rather they hold off from releasing on at least for another year. After Assault on Hoth, the Death Star and now another Snowspeeder I feel there's too many UCS remakes in such a short amount of time. At least break up the release schedule with something thats never been done before. That doesn't mean anything. Plenty of sets feature silhouettes of other vehicles on their boxart. Besides the Falcon isn't the only ship featured on 75159 - the X-Wing, Y-Wing, B-Wing and TIE Fighters are all on there too. There's no hidden meaning behind it.

Australia may be getting the Winter wave a couple months before the US but the Summer wave usually gets delayed in Australia a couple months after the US gets theirs.
-
The Yavin IV base would be my preference for next year's UCS. It ties in with ANH's 40th Anniversary and is something new that we haven't gotten before, especially since the last few sets have all been remakes (Hoth, Death Star and now the Snowspeeder) I liked the idea they had behind the cancelled set which featured the exterior pyramid on one side and all the interior rooms on the other. Ideally should come with around 15 minifigures like Hoth and the Ewok Village. Ceremony Luke (using the CMF medal piece instead of printing it on the torso) Ceremony Leia Ceremony Han Chewbacca General Dodonna Biggs Darklighter Wedge Antilles Red Leader Rebel Technician Rebel Fleet Trooper (x2) Rebel Honor Guard (x2) Plus Rogue One spoilers: The Mos Eisley Cantina would be my second preference. The 2014 version was nice but I wouldn't mind one thats a proper building like the Simpsons D2C sets. At the bare minimum the minifigures should include Dr. Evazan, Ponda Baba, Garindan, Momaw Nadon and Wuher in addition to the ones from the 2014 set.
