LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I think they just used his Force Awakens minifigure for the render. His costume in The Rise of Skywalker should be the same one as The Last Jedi with the scale pattern on the torso. -

I don't think repeat minifigures would be an issue if the Landspeeder is Luke's. The core cast (Luke, Obi-Wan, R2-D2 and C-3PO) could just be split up across the two sets with Tuskens/Jawas/Sandtroopers etc being used to fill in as additional minifigures. -

I noticed that although BB-8 doesn't have the bottom stud either. Besides that he's still the same as his physical release so I assume the same applies for D-O. Kenobi Homestead and Landspeeder have my attention. Either of them would be the perfect set to include that molded Bantha shown in the recently revealed Lego video game. -
Rumors of a new Lego Star Wars Game
wesker replied to Savage Oppress's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Some new screenshots can be found at The Brick Fan. Its interesting that they've updated the Rogue One AT-ST with ball joints. One of the sets rumored for the Episode 9 wave is a First Order AT-ST so I'm wondering if the change in design could be reflective of that upcoming set. I'd also love to see that Bantha also get a physical release. We've seen Lego versions animated in the past but this particular design does feel a lot more authentic as a toy with the eye printing, brick build saddle and molded seam lines along the horns so fingers crossed its a sign of things to come. There also looks to be a new type of Hoth Rebel that's worth keeping an eye out for. -

The new Lego Star Wars video game has provided a first look at a potential new D-O figure from the upcoming wave: The price for the new Falcon is supposed to fall somewhere in between the last two versions. Cheaper than the Solo one, but more expensive than the Force Awakens. I always thought the Raddus would have worked well as a set since the design is fairly similar to the Malevolence that came out back in 2012 and was featured prominently throughout The Last Jedi. Its a shame they missed the chance to make it. -

Not sure what to think of this yet. From a build perspective the T-Rex and gate look excellent but the overall product still feels a bit empty. Maybe including the Ford Explorers might have helped fix that. I second what someone else said about it not really fitting in with the other JP/JW sets. -
For a moment there I thought that pic was from Aquaman. Not really a fan of the new costume. I don't think it captures the amazon aesthetic at all and also loses some of Wonder Woman's identity by leaving out her trademark red and blue colors.

I think the Knights of Ren have a chance of appearing in the First Order Shuttle, possibly even the Millennium Falcon if they take the place of the Kanjiklub/Kessel minifigures from the previous versions. Its too early to guess if Zorii will show up but I suspect we'll at least see Lando, Jannah, D-O and Allegiant General Pryde included in the first wave of sets. Resistance minifigures in the A-Wing/Y-Wing could go either way. More support characters like Nien Nunb and Kaydel Connix would be preferable but we could wind up with generic Resistance Troopers instead. At the very least we can count on two new pilots and an astromech. We didn't get Luke or Leia in the first wave either. Thankfully in Luke's case we didn't have to wait too long after for a minifigure to be released (and by September he'll have 2/3 variants covered) but TLJ Leia still remains one of the biggest omissions from the film. -
I'm kind of hoping this is the trilogy by the GOT creators that's coming after the three year break. Even though KOTOR would be an excellent source for new figures, there's so much new content coming that its becoming hard to cover the missing characters from existing films. Having a few years without new movies would be a good opportunity to catch up on them first before moving forward.

Glad you've resubmitted it. I've given my support.

The Geonosians look so much better with the new legs.

But when you mention the many figures from the film we need, does it really matter which sets they appear in? Bail and Merrick are still clearly based on Rogue One. Does coming in an Advent Calendar make the figure less authentic than one from a polybag? Even if other Star Wars content is a higher priority at the moment, the film hasn't been forgotten about otherwise we would have never have seen those minifigures. And true Vader's Castle is primarily to tie in with the new VR game, but would the set even have been considered (especially at that size and price) had it not also been for it's Rogue One appearance? The majority of fans are never even going to play the game but are still likely to purchase the set due to their familiarity with it from the film. Sometimes the best way to release certain sets/minifigures is through crossover appearances. Just look at how many prequel characters and ships made their first Lego appearance through the Clone Wars (or vice versa with the AAT Pilot Droids being released through the Kashyyyk sets) -

Rogue One hasn't been doing too badly. Over the past nine months we've already seen releases of Antoc Merrick, Bail Organa, Bacta Tank Vader and Vader's Castle. While there's still some notable omissions from the past three Disney movies that haven't been covered yet, I'd argue the Prequel Trilogy has much more. -

I'm hyped for the movie as well. A bit underwhelmed that the rumored set list is made almost entirely of remakes, but there's definitely some cool new character and creature designs to look forward to. Zorri in particular is a standout and I'm curious how many (if any) of the Knights of Ren will be included. The Orbaks are probably the easiest Star Wars creature design for Lego to pull off. Just replace the head on the existing horse figure. -
Go back to the prequels? What about Anakin's Podracer, the three Kashyyyk sets, two Microfighters and two polybags we got this year? I do agree it would be great if more sets from the prequels were released. A Geonosis Droid Factory is certainly overdue and I was actually thinking the other day how much the Geonosian minifigures could be improved today with the Faun/Gremlin legs and Parademon wings. A Naboo Battlepack is a nice idea too. The only thing that would make it better would be a Naboo Royal Guard. We've already gotten the Security Guard (yellow uniform) and Security Officer (Panaka uniform) in sets before - but not this version:

Mature Themes We'd Like to See (discussion, rumour, wishful thinking)
wesker replied to legoSDR's topic in LEGO Licensed
Alien(s): I believe Mega Construx currently has the license but I'd still like to see this one happen one day. I'd mostly be interested in sets based on the first two films, but there's plenty of other options to pick from beyond that. I don't think there's as much potential for a stand alone Predator theme but it could easily crossover into an Alien one. Terminator: Doesn't really need a full theme. I'd be happy with just a display piece of the Terminator Endoskeleton or any of the machines seen in the future battle sequences. Could throw in minifigures of the main T1/T2 characters on a small display stand. James Bond: Would love to see anything from the classic movies all the way up to the modern ones. They've already released one set with the license so it's not outside of the realm of possibility for more. They've also had a solid history with several generic spy themes in the past. Imagine the set possibilities with 24 (soon to be 25) films to pick from? Anything that isn't considered child friendly like Pussy Galore can easily be excluded from the products. The X-Files: The fact that Ideas is now accepting submissions is a good sign the show is no longer considered off-limits for its maturity level. I'd like to see them do something similar to Friends/Big Bang Theory with a stand alone location set based on the X-Files office. Return to Oz: Not really mature but still considered a somewhat dark film. We've already gotten minifigures from the original Wizard of Oz movie and with Disney holding the rights to Return to Oz, it would be nice to eventually see other Oz characters like Jack Pumpkinhead, Tik Tok, Ozma, Mombi, Wheelers and the Nome King get released in some capacity. -
[MOC] The X-Files: E.B.E. (a LEGO Ideas project)
wesker replied to Brick Charlie's topic in LEGO Licensed
Cool set idea. I'd be interested in picking it up if it ever was made, although I admit I do think the previous rejected idea of an X-Files Office would be better suited as a set since its one of those things that's instantly recognizable from the show. Still the fact that the X-Files is no longer considered off limits for Lego Ideas is a positive step forward even if another company currently holds the license to the show. -

Poe Dameron didn't come with his dual molded helmet either when he was included in one of those books last year. -
Wormtail and Lucius/Death Eater make sense since they were in the original Graveyard set.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing them push the boundaries on more mature franchises in the future, especially after the success Funko has had releasing cutesy childish looking products based on mature films and TV. I can understand not wanting a full wave of sets at regular retailers that's widely available to kids, but the occasional D2C or Lego Ideas set aimed at older builders shouldn't be too much of an issue. I'd certainly be up for Alien, Terminator and more James Bond.
-
I agree more aliens would be great. I think each of the films still have plenty of potential for interesting new characters. ORIGINAL TRILOGY: Ponda Baba (Walrus Man): Ideally should be included alongside Dr. Evazan in the next Cantina release as they're the two biggest characters from the scene that haven't been done yet. Snaggletooth and Momaw Nadon (Hammerhead): Also candidates for a new Cantina set. The Ithorian Jedi Knight is currently a decent stand-in for Nadon but a proper minifigure of the character would be even better. Their inclusion in the original Kenner line puts them above the other Cantina backgrounders for me - but Ponda Baba and Dr. Evazan should still be prioritized first. Garindan (Imperial Spy): Not a Cantina patron but still a prominent Mos Eisley character. Luke's Landspeeder would be the ideal set to include him in. Nikto, Klaatu and Barada: Could easily fill the spots previously occupied by Kithaba and the two Weequay guards in the next Sail Barge/Desert Skiff release. Tessek (Squid Head) and Saelt Marae (Yak Face): Could take the place of Ree-Yees and Max Rebo in the next Sail Barge release, or included in a new Jabba's Palace set. Remaining Max Rebo Band: Sy Snootles and Droopy McCool are enough to complete the original pre-Special Edition line up. Prune Face: Could come in a Home One, A-Wing or B-Wing remake. PREQUEL TRILOGY: Boss Nass, Rune Haako and TPM Nute Gunray: Could appear in any Naboo/Gungan or Trade Federation themed set. Fode & Beed/Podracers: I'd prioritize Shmi and C-3PO first but I'd welcome more aliens from the Mos Espa Podrace scene. Mawhonic would be my first choice of the podracers since the head mold already exists on Ree-Yees. Teemto and Ben Quadinaros are two others worthy mentioning due to their prominence during the race sequence. Lego has done dual headed minifigures before with Ninjago's Fangdam/Fangtom so a similar piece for Fode & Beed shouldn't be too difficult to pull off. Dexter Jettster: Dex's Diner is really the only set that makes sense for him but luckily location playsets are a lot more common these days. Rather than use a similar piece to Pong Krell, I think having the head molded on its own would work well in conjunction with Rio Durant's torso. Kaminoans: I still stand by that both Taun We and Lama Su should be paired together in Jango Fett's Slave I. Pablo-Jill: Could take the place of Coleman Trebor in the next Geonosis wave. Virtually identical to Coleman Kcaj from ROTS so he essentially covers two characters in one. Jedi Council: The remaining council members are down to Adi Gallia, Depa Billaba, Oppo Rancisis, Yaddle and Yarael Poof (plus the aforementioned Coleman Kcaj) Could come in any set ranging from Jedi Battlepacks, Clone Wars/Republic themed sets or a D2C Jedi Temple. Wat Tambor and San Hill: I don't expect to see the whole Separatist council represented, but I'd say these are probably the two most notable members. Could show up in any Separatist, Geonosis, Utapau or Mustafar themed sets. Tion Meddon and Utai: Any Utapau themed set. Mas Amedda: The character I'd like to see included most in a potential Yoda/Sidious Senate Duel set, especially with Bail recently being released. DISNEY ERA Sidon Ithano, Quiggold and Pru Sweevant: Maz's Cantina is currently the most suitable option, although future media set during the ST era or original Lego content like the Yoda Chronicles/Freemaker Adventures could eventually open more possibilities for the characters. The Lego Force Awakens game did give them their own DLC afterall. Grummgar: One of those mid tier characters for me. He's noticable enough to get a figure over the majority of Maz's castle patrons - but not quite as important as Bazine Netal, Sidon Ithano and his crew. C'ai Threnalli/Ello Asty: No preference which one as there's not really much difference between the two characters. Could come in any Resistance (the faction not the show) themed set. Benthic/Edrio Two-Tubes: Again no preference between which of the two. Could show up in any set tied to the Partisans or Cloud Riders - either from Solo/Rogue One or other future media appearances that may come down the line. Nien Nunb: With any luck he'll hopefully be included in the Episode 9 sets later this year. RE-RELEASES Aurra Sing, Eeth Koth, Even Piell and Shaak Ti: The four remaining prequel characters that only exist in the Clone Wars animated style. Would be nice to get their movie counterparts. Kit Fisto, Saesee Tiin and Agen Kolar: Kit Fisto is the only one that needs the update but its been a while since the other two last made an appearance. All three can be covered in one go with a Palpatine's Arrest remake.

I'm not a fan of them either. I find the rubber pieces also lose their grip a lot quicker compared to plastic pieces and are prone to deterioration.- 961 replies

Looks like a pretty good character pack. I much prefer these sets over the Bricktober ones as they're much more easily obtainable and at a reasonable price. -

I'm going to spoiler tag my thoughts for anyone who hasn't seen the movie yet. -
Definitely! I'm hoping now with Cloud City out the way it increases the chances of the Arena being made as a MBS playset. I'd be happy enough if it was just half the arena, three beasts and the pillars - but it would be even better if it also incorporated Obi-Wan's prison, Dooku's War Room and the Droid Factory (although that one could also work as a separate cheap playset like the Death Star Escape) Regarding Naboo - for me it generally covers anything related to the battle and invasion including: - The Trade Federation (AAT, MTT, Battle Droid Carrier, Landing Craft, Droid Control Ship) - Gungans (Gungan Sub, Gungan Patrol) - Naboo People (Royal Starship, Naboo Starfighter, Flash Speeder, Gian Speeder) - Any locations (Naboo Duel, Naboo Swamp, Theed Palace, Throne Room etc) Quite a few have been done in the past and not all of them require another release anytime soon, but there's plenty of options to pick from the next time they revisit it. I'd definitely like to see more new characters covered next time though. Battle Padme, Boss Nass and Rune Haako are the most notable ones that should've been done by now - but TPM Nute Gunray, Ric Olie, Sabe, Sio Bibble, Handmaidens, Naboo Royal Guards, minor Neimoidians and any Queen Amidala variants are some others worth mentioning.
