  1. ...I cannot disagree, with Andor being an exception. Case in point, I caught the Solo movie while channel surfing on archaic network television last night (parent's house for the New Year). I found myself watching it to the end and actually enjoying the experience. Apparently I have softened a bit on my opinion of this film...didn't see that coming. I think Ehrenreich and Glover were pretty well cast for their roles. I liked Chewie's performance and Woody Harrelson shockingly fit into the SW universe better than I remember. Underrated film in retrospect? I'm kinda leaning that way. ...also the 75219 AT-Hauler and the two landspeeders were pretty cool sets from solid action sequences.
  2. ...new Imperial Policy Memo pending...
  3. "Oh...it's...beautiful!" EK, I cannot repeat it enough - you have achieved greatness here...right down to the ultra Luxe display stand! You are among an elite handful of MOC designers who presented a creation that immediately inspired me to begin gathering parts. In other news, I changed my mind about the interior - I went for the fleet model with aft weapons locker. Due to a small error in a Bricklink order I'm missing a DBG 1x3x3 door so the 'refresher' currently has no privacy But the transparent yellow round tile made me laugh! I'll make a point to post more photos as I go - your design deserves all the press it can get.
  4. ...Christmas arrived a few days ahead of schedule! This design is incredible - I'm at a loss for words. A few interior tweaks to accomplish, more photos to follow....
  5. Great design for sure! I really like the overall look, and yes, it fits in very well with the general SW aesthetic in my opinion. It seems logical that this vessel would be among different designs - like the sail barge - to take advantage of strong planetary winds in remote regions of the galaxy where energy sources are more scarce than core worlds. I particularly like how the foils retract - presumably for storage in a big hangar. I would consider building this myself if instructions were ever created for purchase. Fantastic work, thanks for posting!
  6. Epic I don't know what's funnier - the video or the comments. People having full blown melties over there.
  7. ^^This. All day long. Well said, and hopefully Tony Gilroy's 'lightning from a clear blue sky' creation isn't a solitary phenomenon. Unfortunately there's nobody else like him on the Disney/Lucasfilm campus as far as I know. I'm an active part of this resurgence, but I'm not convinced it has staying power. I hope I'm wrong!
  8. With regard to the smart brick and LEGO's history of dabbling in gimmicky tech, I've always been skeptical. Then Soundwave hit the streets with its sound brick sporting 20+ samples from the Transformers world - specifically Soundwave's iconic voice. I must admit this changed my mind quickly, in that it took an already stellar set to the next level of perceived value. Perhaps miniaturization and no reliance on an app (that's destined to fade away with time) might give this latest round some staying power with respect to light, sound, interactive play, etc... My inner kid would most likely be very excited for a SW vehicle that makes sounds, light and who knows what else. Cautiously optimistic - let's see what they accomplish with it.
  9. So I took the 'wait and see' approach and I'm not sufficiently wowed. I like the set well enough, but as so many others already stated, it's just not $1K good. The orientation of the laser dish looks great, but the shuttle looks terrible. They gave it a giant baby head and chopped off the vertical stabilizer so it could fit in the hangar. Yuck. Box looks good, so we got that goin' for us...which is nice. Oh well, someone's gonna buy it I guess!
  10. ^^ This bears repeating. With this mod you can still fit one of the droids inside and you get a really good looking Infiltrator - best version to date for its scale if you ask me. Picked up the new K2SO for about $20 bucks after burning some Insider Points.
  11. Excellent! The edge work around the perimeter of the ship looks particularly good - very clean, but with a great mixture of stud and tile. I always liked the 'underbite' of the forward decks of this ship as well as the negative space between the upper and lower sections. I, too, am curious about the C of G with respect to the display stand placement. Will definitely be following this one as it comes together IRL - take lots of pics of the build! Fantastic work, thanks for posting.
  12. Same. I'm more of a 'vehicle guy' so I have never owned any of the DS sets. Depending on the configuration of this one I may or may not be parting with $1K. Based on what I'm reading the odds are 70-30 I'll be keeping my money - but perhaps I'll be wowed.
  13. ^^ ...but would it look better than this one?? Just a click away from instructions.
  14. Couldn't pass up the new UCS Slave 1 - once completed it will replace my 75060 currently on display.
  15. Nice! Good to see this vehicle get more MOC representation. I think this is the first time I've seen the 'official' Sentinel cockpit version - very nice construction technique. Another challenging shape to achieve in LEGO and all the angles and tapers fit together really well. I also like the grey plates integrated into the vertical fin - breaks up all the white very well.
  16. Full credit and praise to Mr_Idler for making instructions available for his giant U-wing! Instructions for this MOC are available on Rebrickable. I enjoyed the Andor series so much so that it compelled me to sink my teeth into this fantastic custom MOC project. I am continuously thankful for all the talented creators who choose to share their builds by providing instructions for sale or free download. Below are some images and comments: As with many large custom MOCs, there are aspects of the model that may not meet TLGs standards of build experience and/or durability. I would rate this MOC an 8 out of 10 for the overall build experience. Also, as I understand it, this model is a v1.0 - which may prompt Mr_Idler to issue revisions in the future. Either way, the instructions are high quality. Only a couple steps here and there require a bit of interpretation - an attribute that I find part of the fun when tackling big projects that LEGO has not yet dared to! If I had to point out a single area of the model that could use some re-work is the fwd ventral viewport assembly. This section utilizes 3 trans-black windscreen elements and associated sub-assemblies to achieve near perfect angles when compared to reference images of the vehicle. The assembly is very delicate and requires a high degree of patience and fiddling to attach it correctly. In the end however, it cannot be overstated how good it looks - always a trade-off I suppose. Mr_Idler's innovative wing construction technique uses stacked wedge plates in a sort of 'reverse orientation' that create a very accurate shape while preserving those straight, sharp edges that other custom MOCs sacrifice when using different techniques. The main drive engines were wonderfully conceived, with variation between the 4 engine pods that require specific 'clocked' attachment steps. With the exception of the ventral viewport area in the front, the main fuselage is solid and has some great interior detail. The cabin very accurately represents the multi-level aspect of the cockpit vs lower main deck. The deployment doors are a bit fragile (he acknowledges this in comments) and do not have open-close features, but can be attached to be displayed in either configuration. Thanks once again to Mr_Idler for sharing this fantastic creation - great fun! $ .02
  17. Hands down the best Lambda shuttle out there to date. You mentioned instructions (eventually)? I'll be first in line to purchase. This WILL be displayed on my shelf - fantastic work!
  18. Damn. You have achieved what others could not - that is, the best looking cockpit design to date in my opinion. I have lost count of how many reference images I studied in an attempt to find a way to build that very tricky nose design in LEGO. Meanwhile, I am losing hope that TLG will release a fresh UCS version any time soon - so I will patiently await your build instructions! Great work, this looks amazing! Thanks for posting, can't wait for more images.
  19. LOL! *returns to the table dripping with tomato juice, wilted lettuce* @Max_Lego I unironically loved that reply. But Max! Imagine all the HYPE on social media!! ;o) Ugh, I just threw up a little.
  20. Indeed! So, I'll say it.... Remake 4, 5 & 6?? *dodges rotten vegetables* Now that we've seen what Lucasfilm is capable of when putting talented people in place...or leave it alone? I'm torn now! It could be so good if done properly.... • Get Anthony Daniels and Frank Oz as acting coaches for their protégés • Make the Ewoks of 6 more formidable - like Wookies - and have a plausible battle on Endor, making ROTJ a better film • Modern lightsaber duels • A seamless CG Yoda • Streamline the dialogue here and there What else? Whaddaya got to lose, Disney? You pretty much ruined everything else. Take your shot for the Ultimate Redemption Arc.
  21. Glad to see this thread. Farewell to the best thing that happened to Star Wars since LEGO - so long Andor series, we hardly knew ye. For my part I'm in the camp that's sorely disappointed with most of the Disney Star Wars output - but have retained just enough faith and interest to give Andor plenty of attention. It's not a series you should watch if tired, as the [brilliant] dialogue is so crucial to understanding all the story arcs. Despite some pacing issues here and there, I stayed with it from the very beginning and I have been rewarded with a production that was expertly crafted with care, precision and a high degree of competence. How refreshing. Across the fanbase, Star Wars is clearly regarded a bit differently depending on perspectives, tastes, etc...right? I keep Star Wars the way I wish, and I'll add this series to my own 'head canon' and just discard the rest of it. In the interest of brevity, some random thoughts: • I was entertained by Krennic's character a lot more after his Andor appearances • Can't get enough of K2SO • I like that the writing team tried some very new approaches - and succeeded. The domestic scenes with Syril, Eedy and Dedra come to mind • I so very much appreciate that Luthen and Kleya got a backstory. From the beginning I was intrigued by Kleya's surgical, calculating strategy. Such a great payoff that we got to see where that came from! • Who would have thought Genevieve O'Reilly's Mon Mothma would prove such a powerhouse character? She steals every scene. • ...and so does Partagaz - damn! The CAST!!! • Luthen and Dedra's face off in the gallery was intense and gripping, and Kleya's dutiful action thereafter was heartbreaking - scenes like this were moving...in a Star Wars show! Anyway, I could go on for pages. For this series alone, Disney+ is allowed a few more months of my sub (until the BluRay drops, that is) $ .02
  22. Definitely. Orange and yellow - and lots of it.
  23. What a great looking set and a nice surprise - the columns are perfect! I will own at least two copies...and patiently wait for the inevitable lighting kit, of course.
  24. Nice work! I always appreciate lighting effects. They can be fussy to work with but the payoff is well worth it - really makes a MOC come to life. The micro vehicles and hangar bay launch photos are great. Thanks for posting this!
  25. Oh, very cool! Both the sketch by Jay B. and your brick version look great. It's a fresh design that fits very well in the SW universe in my opinion. The forward wings and the folding aft wings appear to serve as aerodynamic surfaces as well as protection for the drop troopers as they're deployed into a firefight. Also, since you created a pretty close version of JB's drawing within the confines of an alternate build is certainly commendable. Thanks for posting this - looks great!
