LDD parts database
Calabar replied to ashir's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I was thinking about incoming LDD 4... even if search function will be not implemented, a list made now will lose it's usefulness because it will be obsolete soon. So, if ashir's work is not too complex and if it would be available soon, I'm agree to complete the list. Otherwise wait for LDD 4 is the better choice. Obviously LDD will implemented search using LEGO official names and numbers. But a simple table of conversion with peeron and bricklink codes will solve the problem easily. About using peeron, I've many internal links saved and categorized, and I learned peeron's "slang". Besides, I prefer Peeron's look&fill! Pass from Peeron to Bricklink is not simple, so I prefer stay with peeron than take confidence with another database. PS: peeron is linked to Bricklinks circuit too, if you want to buy pieces. ;) -

LDD Manager is a very useful software, but it has 2 problems for me: - it is based on BrickLink's database, and I'm familiar with Peeron. - Requires MS Access (or Access runtime) So I think the work made by ashir could be very useful for those who has some problem with ldd manager. PS: does LDD Manager shows brick position in LDD palette? The aim of this list I think is exactly that! -
In the topic linked above, you can find the lxf file containing this custom piece. You have not to realize it, it has been realized already. So... pick it and use!

LDD parts database
Calabar replied to ashir's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I think a complete list is very useful now, overall for people like me that use to refer to peeron. I waste a great amount of time to search pieces in LDD, and a table with peeron's numbers and location in LDD would be very helpful. I think too that a simple list with peeron's number and LDD location would be enough to work properly, no need for description or images (description could be useful too... but peeron's description or DBM one?), and could be added later. Besides, as LDD allows to resize palette sidebar, it would be useful a variable value in the spreadsheet that calculate line and position of the piece related to number of pieces in a line (very simple to realize). -
It seems one minifig missing. (6208 on Brickset) Am I right? @ashir "If Mohammad can't go to the mountain, let the mountain come to Mohammad" About the cannon: I placed some plates in the right position so that I could hook the baseplate on the bottom of these plates at the right height related to the cannon. Then I removed additional plates. In short, I moved the whole set to be in the right place related to the cannon, using a little plate as an hook. (I hope I'm clear...) About the flag, I put a cylindrical 1x1 brick (with hole) over the technic stick, then I used the brick to place the flag. Finally, I removed the brick. It is impossible to insert the flag inside the technic pin because the pin is too tight.

Oh porc... Remember to report index errors directly to me, please! Or highlight it in any way. I could not notice it if simply reported in a sentence inside a post! However I recommend to use browser's search in the page to verify if a set has been already made. So if the set's number is already indexed, you can find it immediately everywhere it is. @ashir Usually we prefer to put pieces that we can't insert inside the build aside, and don't remove it from the set. However, the choice is your. I tried to fixed your creation, look at it and, if you want, upgrade your file (my file will be automatically removed in few days). EDIT: re-uploaded the file in its correct version.

[KEY TOPIC] LDD feature requests
Calabar replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'm agree. The option tu add borders to bricks is very useful during construction fase and one of the most desidered voices of the wishlist. But I think this different rendering helps but not solved the problem of bricks' visibility in the palette. Another "wish" could be a "hight quality rendering" with anti aliasing and better illumination, useful for screenshots (it could be too slow for standard use). -
[KEY TOPIC] LDD feature requests
Calabar replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It is not so easy: it could work for little bricks, but big bricks are too "dense", and the risk is that outlining every border the result is... confused. Besides LDD programmers shuold modify how bricks is rendered, and I think it could not be so easy. It could be an help, however, if done. -
[KEY TOPIC] LDD feature requests

Simply the option will select a "special coloured" palette (with hight visibility) instead than the selected colour. Obviously the picked brick will have the selected colour when dragged into the scene. An idea could be a checkbox next to the colour palette: if unflagged LDD would work as it do now, if flagged it would use the special colour palette. -

The issue is easily reproducible. However, here is the screenshots: - DkStone - White - Black As you can easily see, DkStone pieces are much more visible. -

A little Wish for universe mode. In universe mode, when you select a colour, all bricks changes consequently. Unfortunately often this feature hardly reduces visibility of the bricks, so that more than one time I'm forced to change colour in order to locate a brick, and than change the colour again to pick it. It would be useful an option to show bricks in the best way as possible, with hight contrast and visible details, independently from the chosen colour. -
6972 - Polaris-I Space Lab Theme: Space > Classic [Brickset] [Peeron] [BrickLink] Download (LDD 4.2.5): - Direct link HERE. - More on my BrickShelf Gallery HERE. - Visual Gallery HERE. - Get the ZipPacks from HERE. Known Inaccuracies: - Baseplate 32 x 32 with Craters missing: I made a very stylized alternative, I'll have to work on it, in the future. - Space Window 4 x 4 x 6 Outward Sloping Corner (4737) replaced with a kludge of slope bricks. It was available in LDD3 version. - Technic pin bush 1/2 with teeth (4265a) has been replaced with Smooth type (32123). - Hinge Plate 2 x 5 missing (3149c01), replaced with... a bit of fantasy! - I used minifig head with hollow stud (3626b) instead than old type (3626a). - Many decorations missing, replaced if possible. Comments: It is my favorire Space Station. Surely it is not perfect, but I think the final result is enough good!

5928 - Bi-Wing Baron Theme: Adventurers > Desert [Brickset] [Peeron] [BrickLink] Download (LDD 4.2.5): - Direct link HERE. - More on my BrickShelf Gallery HERE. - Visual Gallery HERE. - Get the ZipPacks from HERE. Known Inaccuracies: - Many decorations missing, replaced if possible. Comments: As Adventure theme seems to be ignored, I thought to give my little contribution to extend a bit the list. The set is almost complete: as often, decorations are missing (I tryed to replace original decoration with something similar).

I gave a little update to the index. Only new sets' number, in order to help users to help users to see if a set has been already done by someone. Can't find a reference to these sets. Can you check if set's numbers are correct and if necessary provide a link? A little request: please for every set post a single lxf file reporting set's official name and number. It is a great help when I have to buit the index! Thanks! :) Set 7667 has only one of the model I can see in the picture. What about other model?

6932 - Stardefender 200 Theme: Space > Futuron [Brickset] [Peeron] [BrickLink] Download (LDD 4.2.5): - Direct link HERE. - More on my BrickShelf Gallery HERE. - Visual Gallery HERE. - Get the ZipPacks from HERE. Known Inaccuracies: - I used minifig head with hollow stud (3626b) instead than old type (3626a) - Many decorations missing, replaced if possible. Comments: It is one of my Lego Space favorite sets. Because of the great glass rotation, the stardefender remains suspended in the air: the bounding box of the glass prevent the starship to approach the soil. A bug in LDD that need to be adjusted?

It is not a problem: in the Topic of Official Sets many missing parts has been replaced with custom pieces. It is a standard procedure, because LDD don't provide all pieces. Besides, if you think you haver realized a good custom replacement for an official brick, you can place your solution in this topic, so that other users could make use of your brick in their creation. Before posting in these topics, remember to read and follow that topics' rules written in the first page! PS: instead then creating many different files for assembled and disassembled versions of the set, you can use LDD "Group" function. The use is simple: you select a part of your LDD creation and than go to "group" tab and create a new group or subgroup. In this way you can easily select a part of your creation as a group and separate it from the remaining.

My largest LDD-Project: Simpsons House
Calabar replied to Jey_Bee's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I think that this version is very good because it has the "proportions" of a lego house! It is a great work as it is now!!! Obviously this thing can create some little issues when you try to put furniture into it (as ever happens in lego houses!) So you can try to make some little furniture in order to enrich it, but it is not necessary. The modification I told you before (use 4x1x1 archs) would help to rebuild the house as similar as possible to the original, but it would create problems with minifigs. In short... the perfect built does not exists, you only need to create the one that best approach to your idea. -

Calabar replied to Jey_Bee's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
That's true, but furniture could be simply inspired and not identical! Look at this 4-studs sofa... it could be placed in the room! Perhaps you could gain space for the como if you use a smaller arc (I think 4x1x1 arc could be appropriate). In this way you could cut out the space for a little como and the lamp. -

If you want, you can post some images of the original furnitures and their max size in studs, and we can help you to realize that! I'll wait for the lxf file than! Thanks for your work! -

I like it very much! What do you think about adding some furnitures? Do you think to share your lxf file?
