  1. No problem for me, I could help to create a first drawing up of the index. @Zblj: you should modify the first post inserting "rules of the topic" and the index. If you want I can send you the "form factor" of the other topic's index. The current content of the first post should be moved to a new post, splitting single pieces in single LDD files. Let's start a toto-title: for me the title could simply be: "LDD missing parts: archive of custom alternative"
  2. The only issue should be the topic title: perhaps only a moderator can change it with a more appropriate one. About images in the index, I think that when pieces will be many, this will make the index too huge and then few readable. Besides create the index could became a too binding task! Piece code number should be enough comfortable for a fast search in the index!
  3. I think that it would be more useful with a single lxf file for every simulated piece. And the index should be similar to the one of "Official lego set made in LDD" topic. For every piece: - piece number (peeron number I think will be more useful) - with link to the post where an EB user has posted the file and description - piece description (peeron description?) - author (there could be different variants of the piece) Piece ordered by code number. example of a single line: - 73037 - Winch 2 x 4 x 2 - by calabar In the single post: - piece number - piece description - a little image of the original piece - a little image(s) of the simulated pieces(s)
  4. Last days I was thinking to open an "indexed" topic of custom parts made by EB users in order to replace missing parts in LDD. There are already some solutions, and now the topic could rise. What do you think about maintain index of such a topic?
  5. It is not a work-around, but simply a trick! (similar to the trick I used with horses' ears or the foot soldiers' helmets in the yellow castle). In fact, if you test the dragon with the "connected selection tool" you can verify that teeth are not connected! The trick is simple: technic pin is enough small to stay inside the lower hole of the round brick, so I simply placed it in the right position using plates to put it at the correct height, and then I selected all pieces and move that together!
  6. As I've not many bricks, generally I try to imagine something that grow around the bricks I have.
  7. Here is the Dragon with teeth! As usual, you can find the file here, filename is Dragon.zip EDIT: look for the corrected version on the post above (#153). @dluders If you want use it to update your file, then I'll delete it from my directory.
  8. He confirmed that preview was real and not your immagination, it's something I think! I think it is possible that old LDD versions provide an explorer plugin able to create the preview. It is possible too that old lxf format include a little gif preview inside it, that could be read from explorer's thumbnail function. Can anyone install LDD v1 to check?
  9. There are various way to share .lxf files. Brickshelf is one of that! You must Right Click on the thumbnail of your .lxf file stored on Brickshelf and select "Copy Link" (or something similar, depending on your browser), but not "copy Image Link"! Then you add the link to your post using the specific forum function. You can even manually correct the link here in the forum deleting the folder "\thumb" from the link string and deleting the tail "_thumb.jpg" too. The remaining string is a direct link to the file.
  10. Index has been updated! @markg I noticed that LDD provides the correct hair for the minifig of set 6365, Summer Cottage. If you want you can replace it! @everybody: I wrote, in the first post, a little table with few rules for this topic... let's read it! It will help to maintain this topic ordered!
  11. 6067 - Guarded Inn Theme: Castle > Lion Knights [Brickset] [Peeron] [BrickLink] Download (LDD 4.2.5): - Direct link HERE. - More on my BrickShelf Gallery HERE. - Visual Gallery HERE. - Get the ZipPacks from HERE. Known Inaccuracies: - Saddle with one clip (4491a) replaced with saddle with 2 clips - I used minifig head with hollow stud (3626b) instead than old type (3626a) - Many decorations missing, replaced if possible. Comments: It is one of my favourite set. Unfortunately it is not perfect, but I hope you'll appreciate it anyway. As I choose a rear view for the thumbmail, here is another one with the front view.
  12. Look at Horses' hears in my Yellow Castle! It is not easy, but it is possible! I think it could be related to an LDD issue I spoke time ago: often bricks are difficult to connect if relative position is not perfectly aligned. when a fraction of millimetre avoid two compatible bricks to connect when if aligned connection is easy and immediate. What is considered "illegal"? I think that every possible connection should be available, is there a reason why those "illegal connection" will be not supported? EDIT: I noted that horses' hears in my Yellow castle results unconnected, if I use Connected Selection Tool. So this type of connection seems to be unsupported.
  13. 6360 - Weekend Cottage Theme: Town > Leisure [Brickset] [Peeron] [BrickLink] Download (LDD 4.2.5): - Direct link HERE. - More on my BrickShelf Gallery HERE. - Visual Gallery HERE. - Get the ZipPacks from HERE. Known Inaccuracies: - 8x24 baseplate (3497) replaced with two 8x16 baseplates (3865) - door (73312) replaced with another old style door (3861) - I used minifig head with hollow stud (3626b) instead than old type (3626a) - Many decorations missing, replaced if possible.
  14. Perhaps some baseplate such as - baseplate 48x48 like this or the less common 50x50. - baseplate rised 36x48 like this.
  15. Index is updated until post #70 Soon we'll have a new update! ^___^ EDIT: index updated!
  16. Very interesting! I tried something similar (using four "Brick 1x1 with Headlight"), but i didn't think to use "Panel 1x2x1" to contain studs!
  17. Oops, I didn't know (and don't know still!) the meaning of "UCS", so I probably don't consider it! I remember as big set a bionicle base (7709): almost 1500 pieces and very big in size.
  18. Not enough! Millennium falcon is 84 x 56 x 21... centimetres!
  19. lol, you exhumed a post of almost 2 years ago! It should be moved in the new LDD subforum (moderatoooooors....!!) PS: now it is available for LDD the new Universe Theme, that unlocks all the pieces contained in LDD library.
  20. Perhaps we should open a topic of bookings! Anyway nothing prevent to post 2 versions of the same work: as LDD has limitations and all pieces are not available, it could be that the two versions adopt different solutions, so both could be interesting.
  21. Good work! I was about to realize a similar set (another set of my childhood!) Only a little suggestion: you use the wrong disc for the umbrella: you must use 4x4 dish that you find few bricks under.
  22. 6073 - Knight's Castle Theme: Castle > Black Falcons [Brickset] [Peeron] [BrickLink] Download (LDD 4.2.5): - Direct link HERE. - More on my BrickShelf Gallery HERE. - Visual Gallery HERE. - Get the ZipPacks from HERE. Known Inaccuracies: - Winch (73037) replaced with a custom solution - clip 4085a replaced with clip 4085b - Saddle with one clip (4491a) replaced with saddle with 2 clips - I used minifig head with hollow stud (3626b) instead than old type (3626a) - Many decorations missing, replaced if possible. Extra: - In the ZipPack, an enriched version of the castle, that is exactly as I keep the castle assembled now (except for baseplate, that I customized cutting an old baseplate 24x16 I had, and few other details). Comments: It is my first castle, a present I received in my infantry!
  23. @Toa_Of_Justice Report your creations in this topic too, so I'll add that to the index!
  24. Great work! There is an error in the second link (it points to the thumbnail instead than LDD file). It is possible to get the file, however, but it could not be easy for inexperienced users. PS: Now we have an index in the first page!
  25. Here is my solutions. I tried something other too, but there ever was a millimeter... You can find the LDD file at this page, download challenge-v3.zip Eheh nooo... I'm only a bit lazy! So, having a "base" would save a bit of time I've one or two ideas, but no base to realize that!
