@ADHO15 EDIT: I didn't read your last lines! PS: could you arrange linked pictures in your 10188 post too? Insert a little thumbnail only, and other pictures as link.

@roamingstudio It is an idea we was talking of when LDD section was opened. I'm agree with your idea, but EB Staff thinks that LDD MOCs should be posted in Theme's sections (castle MOCs in "LEGO Historic Themes", Adventurers MOCs in "LEGO Action Themes", etc...). However, it is possible to create an "index topic" with links at LDD MOCs posted in Theme sections to gather all LDD MOCs. The real issue is that, for a thread of this kind, we need a EB User that takes the burden of update the index, as I do for the "Official Set Made in LDD" Topic. @DLuders This is an issue we are discussing with Superkalle and the EB staff. There are some ideas, but no one is really efficacious or easy to implement. In the meantime I'm gathering all .lxf file of the topic I index. If link will be lost, we could make a Zip-Pack. I hope EB will be able to provide a lxf store space for the release of LDD 4. Then we could open a new topic and provide old files in the zip-pack. A little appeal: if someone of you is available to manage the index of a topic, inform Superkalle about it. There are Topics such as "LDD MOCs", "LDD custom pieces", ecc.. that need a volunteer to index that!

I think almost all of us thought that there was at least a bit of trolling in the firs post of this topic! But the question is interesting, anyway. So.. let's forget the trolling (that brings a little fun!) and let's say what's the fate of our extra pieces!

Index updated! 11 new sets have been added! Check your sets! @Superkalle This discussion about illegal connection could be interesting: can you extract related post from this topic and crate a new topic about this subject?

I consider extra pieces as a part of the set. So I store these pieces in separated sachets labeled with set's number and name, or I use that to enrich the set itself. LOL

[KEY TOPIC] LDD feature requests
Calabar replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I "patch" the problem simply using selection tool to select bricks to hide (selection tool allows you to select/unselect easily), and then click on hide button to hide. However an "unhide button" would be helpful in this situation too, if I want to unhide a group of bricks after I have used Hide tool. If tou wan update, you have two ways: - do it manually for both parts ("base" and mirrored) - delete the mirrored part and then re-mirrored it after the "base" part has been update. Obviously an automatic update could be useful in certain situation, but not necessary I think. As I told before, I think a "simple" mirror tool would be surely better than no mirroring tool. So... let's LDD team implement a simple mirroring tool, perhaps a better version will be created for next software releases. If not.. patience, a simple tool would be very useful anyhow. -
mmm... you mean that ADHO15 set is incomplete? If yes, we need to inform ADHO15, or I'll have to tag the set as incomplete. You already make a post for set 7597. If this is an update of that set, please edit both post inserting the modified lxf file in the first and linking that post in the second (the procedure is explained in the topic's rules) PS: image link is wrong. Is this the correct one? Are Cube Dudes a single set? Is there a set number and theme?

[KEY TOPIC] LDD feature requests
Calabar replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I add best grouping functions: - Create a father group from other groups. - Easily move a subgroup inside groups hierarchy. - "work on a group" function: I select a group and then all new pieces would be added to the selected group. - Chance to sort and give names to groups. - Correct the bug about groups deletion. - A button to refresh groups thumbs (or automatic refresh, if it don't require too many resources). - A "Group Bar" placeable on the bottom of the viewport, in order to easily access groups when working on the scene (this feature I think would dramatically increase groups usability). I think that it is not necessary a "perfect" mirroring function. The function should work in this way: - work on a group of selected bricks: the function creates a duplicate group, that you can use as you want. - offer reflection for all 3 axis (relative to the selected bricks). - simply switch bricks position, without substitution. - if a brick don't fit in the new position, it will be removed. - (optional: automatically replace bricks that have a "mirror brick". Requires a table of mirror bricks) - (optional: replace bricks, user define: the user set that a specific brick will be replaced by another. Requires an advanced interface) - Don't mind if the reflection is not perfect: it is simply a way to quickly create a composition, after you use the function, the new group of bricks works as a manually created group. -
@Jeff Very good work. Look here as I managed the file creating groups and using clear bricks as support to insert vehicles. I inserted a lego magnet inside the scene... there is only a "train" type connector, but perhaps it is possibile to adapt the model to use it (in this way there will be magnets as in the original set). @BrickWild Links in post #546 are wrong, it seems (in the meantime, it is possible to find the sets here). The server redirect to the main page of a wide, interesting gallery of LDD models. Are there models not present in this topic too?

You mean "7739 - Coast Guard Patrol Boat & Tower"? As you can see in the index (it has just been updated), this set don't appear. (have you read my previous post #529?)

Surely yes (not all games, however) but I think it could be uncomfortable to move pieces, probably you should create a long list of groups and search among that before moving. @Jay Sathe The screenshot you inserted is big, could you reduce it? Try to stay inside a 512x512 pixel image, as suggested in topic's rules. (PS: the same for Aanchir who quoted the image.. can you delete image from quoting?) @ashir Good work. Perhaps baseplate colour is too dark, I've set 5891 and the baseplates are light green.

Alternative models are ever appreciated, so no work will be deleted. Every model has ever some little difference from others, for example I modified the model adding groups (very useful with modular buildings). Obviously non alternative models are more appreciated.. ...but don't mind! About roof colour, I noticed it is too clear too. It is easy to see that looking at the screenshot. You can download the model already indexed to compare colours and see the difference.

Yes, it is a problem related to the cache. When I tried before I simply refreshed the page without using cache, but it seems not to be enough. So I used my secondary browser and I got the correct file!

Hi! I use the order you see in the index for tree reasons mainly: - Ordering by set's number would require more time and efforts to create the index. As the topic grows fast, I can't increase my workload. That's why I often ask users to follow topic's rules, every contribute to light indexer's work is an important help. - In this way I don't loose informations about realization order of the sets inside a theme. - simply using browser's search function (usually Ctrl+F, or automatic with digitation like I use in Firefox), order became absolutely trifling.

LDD parts database
Calabar replied to ashir's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Eheh... ok. I'll try to explain (I hope my English is enough clear!) I've seen you have used a spreadsheet to make your list. Using spreadsheet is easy to add formulas! So, before you start to create the list, you have to: - create a field where you can add the value of number of bricks in a single line (default for LDD is 3) - create easy formulas that starting from brick ordinal number (1 for the firs brick, 2 for the second... n for the nth brick!) for each group, generate values for group/line/position. For example: Group = you set it manually Line = 1 + integer_part_of( (<group_number> + <brick_ordinal_number> - 1) / <cols_for_line> ) Column = 1 + rest_of( (<group_number> + <brick_ordinal_number> - 1) / <cols_for_line> ) NOTE: About position of the piece in LDD, I consider that all groups are closed except the one where I'm looking for the brick. If not, the calculation need a little complication. Besides, the "line" number starts from the beginning of palette panel. If you want to start counting lines from the line where the icon of the considered group is, you have to slightly modify the formula. NOTE: It would be possibile to automatically determinate groups number. It would require the use of an array (that stores groups' size), a cicle and an conditional instruction. Perhaps it is possible to do it with a macro, but I don't know... I should test it! Download here a little example. -
Index Updated. As usual, check your creations. @professor flitwick You linked the image instead than the lxf file.

LDD parts database
Calabar replied to ashir's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Do you think to use "relative" positions? As I told before, it would be much more comfortable. Instead than write block/line/position you only need to sign block and an ordinal number (if you proceed piece by piece, it is a simple sequence of numbers). Than a simple formula would calculate line and position using "number of bricks for line" as parameter. -
Tks, tag "incomplete" added. But I think AndyC will update the file soon, now that someone has noticed it. Note that there is another 6234 in this topic, post #450, built by Ashir. ;) EDIT: Oops, Ashir is you!

@ashir Usually I update the index in few days. Under the index, in the same post, you can find all data related to the last update. So you can check by your own if other models has been added after the last update (usually non more than one or two pages to check). PS: can't find 6232 in the index. What's the problem exactly?

LDD parts database
Calabar replied to ashir's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Eheh, I didn't think someone could be right or not. Simply there are different situations, the one described above is mine! Is there somewhere a table with lego codes and relative correspondences with bricklink and peeron codes? @ashir Do you think your work can be completed easily and in brief? Even a simplified version, waiting for LDD4. -
[KEY TOPIC] LDD feature requests
Calabar replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
A "Wish" I consider very important: LDD 4 available in a portable version. A portable version is very useful if you have many machines and you don't want to be linked to a single one. Besides, it is very useful to show your works to friends that don't use to make use of LDD. For me a portable version would be very very comfortable.
