Yes, we have moved the site to a brand new server.

This new (dedicated) server is a powerful machine with AMD 8-Cores CPU, 32GB RAM, 4x 1T HD in raid 10, running Ubuntu.

Most important, nothing on this server is shared with anyone else, it's all for us!

We are now on the new board version for some weeks and are pretty much finished with our customization. I've almost completely forgotten what the old board looked like by now and personally love the new board look&Feel and it's new features.

Some of my favorites are:

1/ Integration with social media, making it very easy to share a topic from Eurobricks with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, etc.

2/ Tags allowing you to find similar topics all over the board. A powerful feature over time once it's well populated.

And there are others like the Rich Text Editor allowing you to post the URL of a youtube video and it will automatically embed, the quick navigation tab, the improved Profile Feed where one can directly reply to comments, etc.

While Eurobricks was down, I started an impromptu contest on Flickr, for people to express

how they were handling the outage. The rules were basically to create an 8x8 vig

portraying how they were handling the situation.

Eurobricks member LegoJalex has recreated the Turtle Party Wagon from the original cartoon/ toy line.

Makes me all nostalgic. As you can see he even made a little "toy" version for his minifigs. Cowabunga!

Hi Everyone,

Yes we are open again after some days of downtime. Due to an unfortunate incident we lost 5 days of posts and are now running a backup from last week Wednesday. I am very very sorry for the loss of these 5 days and will do what I can from this happening ever again (it was the first time as far as I can remember).

We have been experiencing some server slowness which we hope to fix soon by moving to a very powerful dedicated server (now we are on a Virtual Private Server). The new server is rented but we are waiting for the access codes to arrive by regular mail. Since that might take few more days we have decided to re-open the board on the old server. Don't worry, everything will be moved over when the new server is available.

Very soon the admins will start a major forum upgrade moving us to the latest version of the Invision forum software. We are kinda forced to upgrade because our current version has reached 'end of life', which means we can't get any support from this moment onwards.

The previous time we did such a major upgrade we prepared everything for 6 months in the background. By the time we were ready Invision already released a new forum version, so we are not going to do it like that again. Instead we'll upgrade the board and get us going with one default forum skin. Once we have one skin ready we'll fix all the other skins over time. So that means you'll see a pretty uncustomized board immediately after the upgrade until we get one skin ready.

During the upgrade the forum will be closed as we need to 'freeze' our database.

Current target is to do the upgrade this Wednesday, starting 9am (CET).
