  1. The walls of Stoneroda. The town had seen better days. It's destruction hadn't dimmed the indomitable Mitgardian spirit though, and the town was being rebuilt as a garrison for Mitgardia's soldiers. The current political unrest between Mitgardia and Kaliphlin reared it's ugly head, with a mounted Mitgardian soldier dragging a chained privateer in the colours of Kaliphlin behind him. Mitgardian soldiers up here have grim countenaces. Further along the walls a famous bearded lady of Mitgardia observes the work of stonemasons as they build the wall that will surround Stoneroda. Inside the town's walls, the atmosphere is cheerier, with the bustle of life in Mitgardia watched over by guards on the walls. A suave Avalonian woos a delighted Mitgardian woman with flowers in his favourite colour: pink! A dwarven weaponsmith works hard to supply Stoneroda's garrison with high quality weapons. In the midst of all of this, Lord Vladivus arrives accompanied by Necromancer Krell. His scouts have recently discovered the demise of Corocus, and has tracked the murderers to Stoneroda, where Vladivus is meeting a famed Mitgardian hunter- Sigvald Kabelsson. Lord Vladivus: "Greetings Sigvald, I trust you have the information I seek?" Sigvald: "I do indeed. It is a sad time, it would appear the Black Spire's reach extends far. I tracked a party of soldiers fleeing Nocturnus through Mitgardia. They passed along the road towards Avalonia. One of them carried a mighty sword that seemed to glow of it's own accord- such witchcraft does not sit well with me. I fear you may find the answers you seek in Avalonia my friend." Vladivus: "You're help has been invaluable." He turns to Krell. "Well, it seems it is to Avalonia that I must travel. Prepare the troops, and have them meet me at my ancestral home. This heresy must end." .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. So, a freebuild to explain my characters presence in Avalonia when the challenge starts. I went to Mitgardia, as 1) I wanted to build there, and 2) Some of the characters will probably crop up in the Mitgradia challenges, so I wanted to introduce them now. Obviously Stoneroda is kabel's town, so credit goes to him, I hope I've done it justice. I tried to channel some of his building style, without compromising on mine. Tricky. C+C very welcome, this is the biggest MOC I've attempted to date, and whilst I'm pleased with it, I keep coming back to it and fiddling. I'm more used to smaller MOCs! As ever, more pictures on my Flickr. Cheers.
