LDD 4.3.9 Update Released
SpiderSpaceman replied to legolijntje's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I mean I wouldn't say "in later sets", because the physical version there is the only way we ever got it physically (I think...), and the inaccurate digital representation of it has looked like that since it showed up in LDD and Lego Universe. Another big inaccurate one is the Wu beard. Another inaccuracy thing: I wish there was more consistency to the resolution of the hair models but I know that's something that's never happening in here, but I'm happy the classic cowboy hat got fixed from sitting flush with the top of a minifig head -
Hey everybody, I hope I'm not remaking a topic here but I wanted to inquire: I've got a good collection of Minifigures, including the majority of the collectible Minifigures, and I want them to be in collectible condition (without sealing them away), but for a number of my favorite figures that doesn't seem to be possible. There's certainly cracking down the torsos that just happens to figures I'm not messing around with, but my particular concern is metallic print. It's just downright gone from my series 1&2 collectible figures, certainly from the Indiana Jones line figures (some of my favorites ever), and my cyborg "Agents" villains. I would be crushed for this to spread to the rest of my Collectible Minifigs, my Superheroes, and Lord of the Rings figures, among others. There's definitely an age component to the print failing, but is this degradation totally inevitable? Is it my climate? I'm in the greater New Orleans area and there is a lot of absurd temperature fluctuation in the weeks around the change of seasons, and excessively moist air (of course my place is conditioned but the room where the Legos are at has poor circulation or something. I wonder if keeping them in different conditions would keep them from damage once they're vulnerable. What are your experiences? What can you suggest for preserving/preventing whatever reaction is causing the damage (without putting them in a vacuum or shellacking) I really do bet it's the air humidity, unless it just happens to everyone? Does anyone still have gold on, say, the maraca Guy's hat?

I'll do that straight away I guess. Is the soccer champion minifigure from series 4? It turns out with my (CMS) Minifigures, it's only the gold gone right now. Because the astronaut with the ray gun, the silver's all good, but the gold is ruined. And the newest one I've seen that's dulled out is the soccer guy. I'm terrified for my iron man collection. Oh check it out, 7 yr old pirates topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=34967&st=25

Well didn't they just use them as Scooby Doo stock enemies throughout the game?

"You beeeeet your life!" Haha, did you tell me that in the topic next door? I saw a "That's about the best avatar on the site" and I meant to hop back in and say "Doubt that but thanks!"

Right, so... it's not that because I haven't been rubbing the figures like a lottery ticket. They were sitting in a box between "ooh shiny" and "aw all the shine's lost". I pick em up from time to time but by unprinted surfaces. I mean, seriously. You think I'm taking the rim of that s2 sombrero, spinning it in my hands and rub rub rubbing the entire thing away, and then asking "hey, what gives"? The fault was something I thought about in hopes that the rest of my metallic print isn't gonna disappear, and was something I thought about when I asked. But say, red dress Willie: I got a red dress Willie, one of my favorite figures, right? And one day a year or two ago, I find it and see that the torso went bad. like, by google images, she went from this: to this: So I went and ordered a new torso from bricklink, and it came in shiny, so I was happy and swapped it out. But then in about a week, I looked again and this new one was straight back to dull. Now I could see having gotten finger oils on that one one time, because of the way you gotta grip it when popping arms in, (and I have had that definite rubbing-caused dulling from trying to grip a Pharaoh's Quest Anubis keychain to tug the hook out) but generally if I have a minifigure I really like, I'm exceedingly mindful of the condition, and certainly trying not to touch on the print. The fact that the fresh one dulled right after i got it says to me: Something starts to break apart in that print at a certain time after it was applied, and something about my environment takes that vulnerability and hits it hard, where collections in a different environment would still have that vulnerability but not the conditions to make it go bad.

Has this part been released yet?
SpiderSpaceman replied to Takanuinuva's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I thought for sure this topic was gonna be about the stud-shooter gun with a ball socket butt. -
See, the kids won't even jump in the gyrospheres for me. They say "hey you did it" or something like that when I clear the first pile, then just stand around like dummies. BTTF I've tried, with the witch, on about 4 occasions, until I had to utterly give up. I know there's not an outlier because it resets if you go out too far, but I've only ever found the one at the town sign, the one in the stable, the one on top of the building closer to the train station outside the town sign, and one between/behind town buildings EDIT: BTTF complete!
-
Gameplay help request: I'm good with everything else in the game but can't figure out: How to complete the mission in Jurassic World adventure world where you clear a path for the kids' gyrospheres; Where one of the silver barrels is in the destroy all silver barrels mission in BTTF adventure world, old west. Can anyone describe how these can be completed, or direct me to a part of a walk through that tackles it?

Soupperson, nice catch! That frees up some more molds for originating with the movie, and gives a first look at something I've been curious about. Tech Artist, songs in teaser trailers aren't gonna be used in the movie in any capacity.

Comics adopted this a year or two ago - Knightfall mask and scale, Tom Hardy gear. It's odd, but it's a legitimate, non-permanent, alternate outfit. And far better than the unforgivable "Ultimate Spider Man" Green Goblin -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

I gotta say I feel really good about a physical Mr. Freeze! With Clayface I could see happening a minifig size physical Clayface release that stop-motion morphs into big Clayface - which they might not give us if it's not deemed durable construction - and don't forget, there are bunches of parts used in the Lego movie that are in non existent colors, or super discontinued. New molds, generally safe. New figure prints, generally safe. Constructions, lots of omission and substitutions. But not to be doom and gloom, I want it. Could happen!... but maybe realistically a little more dense and delicate than set designers' standards. For an imposing mech suit stature? Fun action range of motion? The possibility to finally use the proper part for Mr. Freeze? I've been wanting the Lex and Cyborg bigfigs from the game, and they're a head on a big suit. And Freeze has been depicted as reduced to a head-in-a-jar in some media, so his body in these cases is just a power suit, in which case why not go big? Do you think he's just scenery? (Not to get in an argument, but if you're thinking he does actually look like a figure and that he doesn't look like freeze, the check valve greebles, glowing icy white-blue shoulders and head dome, and a blast of that color where the arm would end, all says Freeze to me) -

That's what I'm here for I mean I like him even though he's got the DKRises Jacket, making him Talon/Arkham War Bane. There's probably still room for the Tt Games Bigfig version... Yeah, you could say (I hate myself for this) everything is awesome! -

I really like the "fur" that comes with Kraven the Hunter, and maybe now a new Penguin? Could see that coming to collectible minifigs too, like a "Wealthy Socialite" kinda figure. Hey there's a cool new brick built Mr. Freeze suit behind Harley - Animated series style helmet, which has sadly never been done right in Lego... Due to no minifig neck attachments that receive the perfect part that's been around for years... So... how 'bout everybody who saw the trailer that most of us haven't seen, report theater chain, movie format, and country? Very yes. -
Speaking of upcoming packs (Lego Batman Movie speculation that is; I ain't egging on shady business, mods!), I just wish they could call back in voice actors to fill out interactions with new additions. And get Nancy Cartwright in it for god's sake. And hire a writer to make more compelling interactions? I do love the cyberman's comments to homer though, just discovered that gem.

Funko Products - Pop Vinyl, Dorbz, etc
SpiderSpaceman replied to HawkLord's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I care about the Sci Fi mystery minis series, the Horror series has cool ones but also plenty I don't care about. I like Pops but don't generally get every one I like. Have Judge Dredd, X-men's Storm, Captain Phasma, Avengers' Nick Fury, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, a DIY blank (plan to turn into Cad Bane), and most recently: Swamp Thing! Some I like and haven't gotten are TMNT's Raph, Orphan Black's Helena, Bravest Warrior's Catbug, multiple Star Trek and Next Generation characters, the dragons of Game of Thrones, Drew Brees, Darkseid, Agent Carter, Willy Wonka, some arrow/flash characters, the newest Morgan and Carol from The Walking Dead, Spike and Angel, 4th doctor, a Dalek, and a weeping angel. There's a great "dorbs" wonder woman in her jet that I neeeeed. There's a DC subscription box going now that I'm super interested in (though not as interested as I am in having a full set of the LEGO DC offerings, so probably gonna leave it alone) Y'all know that Funko teamed up with Playmobil to do licensed character double-scale Playmobil figures? I don't care about playmobil but I like Wonka and Tom Baker... Also I think it's nuts how flooded the market is on stylized plastic representation of characters: Funko alone has the pops & mystery minis & giant "deluxe vinyl" & "dorbs" & "mopees" & "fabrikations" & "idolz" & "vixens" & "hikari" & "mymoji". Now Funko Playmobil. Then you got so many other companies that do deformed characters and stylized characters, minimates, eggheaded people, kiddy figures like imaginext and superhero squad. And the Minifigure! And when you've already overwhelmed on the amount of styles you can make your characters in, it blows up on Lego Ideas and it gets into Lego Dimensions -
Did anybody else make this little guy as a kid?
SpiderSpaceman replied to SpiderSpaceman's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Nice catch! I had to look the character up, because I had a total of two action figures of the rangers themselves, and the most I knew about them was which dinosaurs were on whose helmets, and that my green ranger was cool because the costume had been discontinued on the show (a nurse who clearly had a little boy told me when i was lugging the figure with me to an appointment ) -
Playing around in LDD I remembered that my most prized lego parts as a kid was a pair of chrome reflectors that were definitely always being used as a shiny space robot helmet Anyone else do this, or have any other childhood custom space figures with odd parts that you recall? Needless to say, this happened a lot too: Only, y'know, imagine the explorien android face in the middle and motorbike jacket zippers on everyone. EDIT: oh, definitely a hard plastic wizard cape too, forgot that.

This is a wonderful model! The scene between the 3 characters (or 2 1/2? ) couldn't be done better! I am also The only adjustments that I'd want: I think it would make more sense if the castle-y wall decorations (spears, cobweb) were replaced with something more fitting a cathedral: windows, crosses, statues. Also if you could suspend a bell in it somehow... But, great great character piece and the scale of everything is perfect.
-
Haha yep, that was the intention.

Mixels with caps is the first thing I thought of when the rounded corner 2x6 plate was introduced, and now that it's made it into LDD, I was able to swap out my placeholders and display this little guy: ... also I really thought those teeth were available in gold physically, but bricklink says no.
