    LEGO Dimensions Discussion

I just received my wave 3 packs imported from Amazon Germany. It was my last resort since the regular toy shops in Holland were not selling the Ghostbusters level pack and S&H are not stocking any of the new wave 3 packs. Is there a specific licencing issue with Ghostbusters prohibiting the sale in Holland? Or is there just simply less demand, is interest in Dimensions waning (I am concerned that may be the case)? Anyhow it's annoying that you can't rely on getting all the latest Dimensions packs on their release date trough the regular channels.

    Greets from Not-So-Sunny Florida

Welcome CapnDash amd I presume you also mean January not July? I have just booked a summer holiday around Floirda so I hope the weather will be a lot better by then! So are there many Lego stores in places like Miami and st Augustine? I know there is a fun park in Orlando but I will be doing the other parks there in stead?

I've Lost My Mind - Lego Artoo on Ideas

You've basically given TLG all the arguments NOT to do it. What are the arguments for doing it? Incidentally, while it seems like a fantastic achievement, I don't see this baby standing in my living room. And I like to think I am crazy enough to spend 1000s on LEGO.

    REVIEW: 70751 Temple of Airjitzu

Has anyone else got two different numbering layouts on the numbered bags? The higher numbers (from 10 I believe) arein the old format (i.e. Large nu,bers, thick white outlined, transparent) whereas the lower numbers have a more formal appearance: a grey banner with a smaller number written in the middle? For me the latter layout is new, never before seen in a set. The set itself by the way is gorgeous. You don't need to be a Ninjago fan to like this one. The fact that it says Ninjago on the box is completely irrelevant as far as I am concerned. Could just as well be Creator Expert which happens to be an oriental this time...

    10251 Brick Bank

My real bank still has 90 euros saved since this year failed to see a new WV set. Very happy to spend it soon on this fantastic new Modular. At the same time relieved that this Modular release is an original set and not a rehash of an older Modular set like some people were speculating about. It seemed to take forever for news of this modular to 'leak' out. I wonder how people here would have responded if the new Modular set had been a rehash of say the CC or GC...

With HP you mean Harry Potter? I would love that in Dimensions. Other ideas in random order: Big Bang theory Starsky and Hutch The teletubbies (uh oh) Lego Friends Inspector Gadget

I sure hope the quality of the LEGO bricks is not as bad as you suggest... Anyhow, I doubt you can have two built sets already so that you can readily switch one for the other since they will have different bases. The base is where the game writes its data about what model it is currently supposed to be. So things would get very much misaligned. But based on what I've read I think the solution is even easier. Simply don't keep rebuilding the model as the games suggests. The game has no way of actually knowing whether you rebuilt the model or not. It just presumes you did what it asks during the game. And then you can still have two separate versions built (if you want to invest double haha) for the sake of display. But don't ever use the second set in the game, regardless if it is the 'right' model or not. Also, I have gathered the instructions are not in the box at all but only onscreen during the game.

How do you dust between the studs on LEGO?

I have a small LEGO room sealed off by a glass door that has a drust strip underneath. It has carpet on the floor and a window that is always closed. Finally, it has a SHARP air purifier with ionizer function. I have not dusted the LEGO on display in that room for 3,5 years. Sure, there is a small trace of dust here and there so one day I will have to reserve a day or 2 to give it a real dusting. Either this is a perfect setting for LEGO or I have a different threshold about when I start caring about dust.

    Availability of 10220 VW Camper

Is it new production or just excess stock that has not been sold yet? I too am amazed it can still be bought in normal retail. Especially since there have been 2 expert creator cars since...

    10249 Winter Toy Shop

I generally agree that a review should be balanced and objective. I REALLY do hope that TLG gets the point that we don't mind re-releases as an extra, but NOT instead of new sets. Especially not when people come to count on it as part of a holiday ritual. If they want to stop the series, OK. That is their business decision. Someone mentioned the idea of a Classics Line. Now that would be fantastic, and I say that as a collector who has already paid top bill to acquire sets such as the Taj Mahal and MF. Even if that means I paid too much, the value is still the same to me - if not more! I mean, they are for building and displaying anyhow, not for reselling.

    10249 Winter Toy Shop

A re-release as such is not necessarily taboo but it is a real pity if that has come instead of a fresh new product. Spoiling for many loyal fans the enchantment and tradition of the Winter Village series.

    10249 Winter Toy Shop

I would not be dignified to put in words what I think about your 'it's just a toy' observation but I would add that your comments about the Architcture line is exactly why I have never bothered with it. The WV line started off really strong (ironicly with this very set being discussed) and basically lost it's way ever since the WV Market came out 2 years ago. What I think most AFOLs want to express here is that rehashing sets that serious collectors and fans alike enjoy is not a practice we wish to see continued by TLG. We hope they are reading this and take notice!

Yeah it showed up about an hour after my post. Received the email about it around 11 pm this evening. Mine is ordered and paid, can't wait! Still have the Simpsons store to finish first though.

Yeah thinking the same thing. The starter pack should be abundently available I am guessing so no worries there. It's all the rest that will sell out.

    10249 Winter Toy Shop

I thought it was rather suspicious when we saw the release of the Creator set 'Changing Seasons'. That also contains a winter variation. Suppose they thought that would suffice this year... NOT! TLG is missing out on my money this year when it comes to buying a new WV-set. Hope it fails so they won't try to pull this on us loyal fans again!

You're right, I forgot the fun packs of wave 4 and 5. So that means the completionist investment of roughly 1000 usd/euro for all of the Dimensions sets is spread over 9 months. Probably series 2 will release in september 2016 (providing it is a success). So there's a year to recover from the dent in your bank account :-)

So today.s the 18th of August and it's not up yet on the S@H? Am I being impatient or has the VIP release date changed?

    LEGO Dimensions Discussion

This is not quite accurate. SERIES 1 will consist of 3 waves releasing in September, November and January. The total price of all 3 WAVES together will lokely be around the figure you have calculated. But at least - on a slight positive note - you get to spread tour thousand dollars over a period of 4 months. I base this on the lego Dimensions Wiki, presume it is correct?

I too am confident that it will be good value for money and have pre-ordered all the level and team packs as well as some fun packs. It combines my love for lego, video games and some cool licences into one experience! That premise is good enough for me, conventional wisdom dictating one should wait for the reviews. I suspect it will deliver amd otherwise at least I have a front row seat for one of the greatest modern failiures in the toys and entertainment business ;-) I own all three consoles, will likely buy it on the xbone for the simple fact that my Girls' Disney Infinity is using up a USB port on the ps4. On a side note, to whomever is interested, it must be stated that the Wii U's Lego City Undercover is an exceptional game. It is a true classic, the best Tt LEGO game and very much underrated. If Dimensions is only half as good it will already be fantastic.

what was your first lego set?

As a kid I was into classic space and city trains. i think my first set may have been the 497 classic space ship. i was about 5 years old and I still today have it on display. My first set out of my dark ages was the Winter Village Toy Shop. Actually, I bought it together with my wife when we were visiting Legoland with our own 2 girls. She was the driving force although I was already craving after the huge Death Star set. It did not take me long to break the bank and get that set as well. And it has never recoverd since ;-)
